I'm going to add the aluminum angle iron to my setup but keep the rest of the build the way it was at the beginning. I don't do the hardcore camping that you do but I've spent several nights in the back and that platform addition has made all the difference. I do show it off if the opportunity avails itself!
Great build! You inspired me, and I'm currently in the process of making my own. Regarding the wings, what size bolt did you use to remount the tiedowns? Thank you!
@@GrizzlyPath the bolt sizes are M6, but the length…you mentioned at 1:33 in the video “you ran a long bolt…” could you tell me how you found that measurement? Also for the wing areas. Thanks!
If you have calipers or even a pencil or something to stick through your platform to the threaded hole you can measure. I’m sorry I don’t think I have the measurements and I looked but I can’t confirm which bolts I used. Pretty sure the ones behind the back seats were 100mm, and the ones in the wings were maybe 80mm.
About to start this build over the weekend. Curious on how you went about cutting the winged section. Do you have measurements and how large of a sheet of plywood did you start with?
I started with a standard 4x8 sheet and cut it from that. I can’t remember the measurements, but I basically just trimmed cardboard to check fitment and then traced that onto the plywood. Cut it out with a jigsaw. Should go pretty smooth- just be aware it won’t be as easy to install/remove because the wings require you to turn the plywood sideways slightly to get it through the hatch. Have fun!
I should, but at the moment I don’t have any! In general though if you’re willing to build it then doing the measuring isn’t too much more work though. I believe in you!
What are the measurements of the “legs you used for the leveling height? 2.5”? And then you ad the 1/2” ply to it for a total 3”? I’m asking because I have the exact same truck with the exact same “problem”

Love the idea behind the D rings. I am always impressed at your woodworking ideas. Looks awesome man!
Thanks Zak! Can never have too many d-rings!

Bah I don’t anything hardcore! But the angle iron does clean the look up nicely!
Love your setup Bro!
Nice job!
Thank you!
How did you secure it to the factory D rings? Thanks so much!
I removed the 4 factory D-rings and ran bolts through the platform into the threaded mounting holes so it’s fully secure.
@@GrizzlyPath You did not need to do any changes to the vehicle metal frame right? just extended it to come all the way up right?
Exactly!
SUPER 👍👍👍👍👍👍💯💯💯🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩👏👏👏

Gosh, I think it’s like m6 or m8? I can’t remember off the top of my head! Pretty easy to remove and check when you’re building.

You should start selling these
Would you consider selling plans for the lazy folks like me

2-1/2” sounds right, plus 1/2” for the wood and 1/8” for my fabric. I would highly recommend you measure yourself though to verify!
