Matt, Matt, Matt. Load lips are good. Load lips stop things rolling out when opening the boot, they also help hold things in place when closing the boot, they are usually there because boot is deep which increases the size of the boot, which is one of the positive things you were saying the car had... It doesn’t make sense what you’re saying unless it’s a split tailgate with a huge lip when up or a very long lip when down.
I have this one as a company car and absolutely love it, it loaded and has everything you’d need for a long distance drive, very comfy, huge space, great connectivity and quite good with the 2 liter 190ps engine (and up). Complain for me is noise at high speed (especially with winter tires) and lower image than the competition (in case is something you are interested in).
@@laarez2339 Definately on the soft side, tends to lean on sharper bends, but immensely comfy for the long drives. I think you can get it with adaptive suspension too.

I absolutely love Skoda! I am in India and the Superb here is rather premium with beige or brown leatherette upholstery, and it has a host of features which even an Audi A4 or a BMW 3-series does not provide. like they say, it is 'Simply Clever' !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You should test the higher equipment level of skoda superb with 272hp engine and absolutely real exhausts. That particularly car from the video ,was poor equipped, and it’s miss a lot of features. For me “Adaptive suspension “ is the best feature in that Skoda. More stable and confident on “sport”,and on another hand ,very soft and cloudy on “comfort” Also the 2.0TSI 272ps. engine after MY2018 is the same like Audi S3 and VW Golf “R” The same engine code “DNU” with the only difference in the software. This is a very important info for the potential buyer. Cheers! :)
The louder engine noise is probably due to less insulation for the engine compartment! I guess money has to be saved somewhere to make up for the difference to the passat!
Superb owner here: Had the 2018/19 model for over 2 years now. Plus compared it to the new one. A few points: 1. insulation bad. At 150km/h+ it gets REALLY loud, unbearable at 234 km/h. So it’s not great on German Autobahns. 2. The boot is a weapon of mass luggage storage. You just can not get it full. 3. It’s a bit too wind conscious. If your bombing down the autobahn gusts of wind make it a bit unstable. 4. Had constant problems with the driver side window. Been to the repair shop multiple times. Still dies every 10-15tkm. 5. Coming from a Skoda Octavia RS Diesel to a superb Sportline: the quality of the interior is inferior. The Octavia was tighter, everywhere and at everything.... The car infotainment is sluggish. And you have to pay an annual fee for remote control features :(
@@jordanpilcher5528 You idiot, he's clearly in the uk the rest of the time and even on the motorway shots filmed by the RS6 ! There's only one shot where is't the other way arround so no, he did not go to europe to get the bleeding car
Ive got the 2.0ltr sportline petrol estate coming from an Audi A5 the only thing is missing in my opinion are the extended leg supports for under your knees. Great car love it
The saloon/hatch (Skoda call it the limousine) has been way less fun since they ditched combination hatchback and saloon boot lid (The wires would fail after a few years where they went through the saloon hinge if you used it a lot though). The idea was so good BMW paid Skoda so they could use it in some one of their moneypits. One feature of the Skodas is that the length of the car is about the same regardless of the body type, so the hatchback has a very similar boot size up to the waistline of the car to the estate, so this review covers that body type very well too.
@@peglor I dont know what you are talking about with the wires in the boot lid failing but I can confirm that the trunk space in the sedan version of the Skoda is pretty much exactly the same as in the estate. Its only missing a few centimeters if additional room at the very top but you never use that space in the estate unless you transport something really big, which is just as possible in the sedan version. We had a 2015 Skoda Superb L&K Sedan for almost four years and had no issues with any wires in the boot failing which is why I'm saying I dont know what that is about. The trunk space is impressively massive though, when you stand at the rear of the car and reach in you cannot touch the back of the rear seats without getting inside the trunk.
If I had a quid for every time Matt said “It’s not as good as the i-Drive system you get in a BMW”, I’d be able to buy one... ...probably second-hand but still.
Everybody seems to love the Superb and while it has a lot of positives there are some negatives, I'll share my experience. I bought a 2019 Superb Estate Sportline with just over 40k miles. It cost around 18k, more with interest factored into the agreement, about 22k. The positives about this car are well known and don't need listing here (space, value etc. etc.) the negatives I experienced, probably just bad luck but still: - Every pothole, bump in the road or slightly steep speed bump was a problem, the car crashes into every one sending a loud bang sound into the car and jerking passengers. I've driven the same roads in the same style with a Focus Estate and it just handles everything way better. - It's very bouncy, contrary to the above if you go slowly over bumps the car continues to bounce a couple more times, I think becase it's just a very heavy car, don't have the same issues with other cars. - 3 out of 4 door locks broke within the 12 months I had the car, but this means that I had to spend days driving around with doors automatically locking and unlocking because the "intelligent" system takes over, the same lock broke twice so had the issue twice. - Infotainment system kept misbehaving, volume would turn down but not back up until a full off/on was performed. Other issues with android auto where the screen went a haze of colours instead of displaying the content, not the phone or the cables. Happened almost daily. - The tyres on the sportline version are 19" and very expensive (this is important if you buy it as an affordable family car). - Niggly bits are the car was very rattly, it looks premium from the outside or sitting in it but actually day to day driving every piece of plastic or trim had little rattles, I had to take sections off and stuff with tissue paper to fix it, the dealership fixed another, it wasn't a premium drive. - Terrible in the snow, tyres all had tread but i think due to it being the automatic varient i couldn't even get up slight inclines in snowy conditions, every other car could do it without skidding, again, this could be due to the weight, but it was a miserable experience last winter. Personally I think my issues come down to the fact that I had a Sportline trim and an SE-L or similar would actually be the better choice. It was a great car but in the 12 months I owned it I went back to the dealer about 8 different times with faults, and spent all my time driving just avoiding the smallest bumps in the road. Downgraded to a Focus Estate and while it isn't as nice or as roomy the drive is infinitely better. If you disagree with anything i've said that's fine, i'm just sharing my experience of this car that seems to get more praise than it's worth, especially when nearly 20k can buy you a massive array of better quality cars maybe slightly older or slightly more mileage.
The DSG gearbox in the Skoda is not jerky at all, it’s the exact same gearbox in the Passat and that isn’t a jerky either. It’s absolutely slices through the gears without any hesitation whatsoever. Fantastic cars for the money
Impressive car, great bang for the buck. The seats look very comfortable and remind of sports car seats. Dashboard is well thought out. Lot of space and discreet (boring) exterior design. 190hp diesel with AWD would be my choice. Neighbors wont be jealous either. Czechs used to have many great car manufacturers and great that VAG has been able revitalize Skoda.
it's a brilliant car. i have the estate and use it for towing my race car to tracks apart from everyday use. it has huge trunk space and the front seats are reclinable so you can sleep in case of need. fairly quick, not even bad in turns on good tires, drove it on track even. clearly it cannot be perfect; it's huge and consumes a lot of gasoline but well. it's superb
That 'specialist', eh, autopilot worth buying though. It isn't just software that distinguishes the basic autopilot in Škoda, it's also hardware. And it gives a LOT compared to basic abilities. The advanced autopilot features a front view camera that resides on the front window. This camera provides for instant all-time monitoring of traffic and allows the car to detect that the front car has begun to move when you're at the traffic lights. I own a Superb MK3 280 hp with a basic autopilot. Effectively this works as follows. The basic autopilot only detects moving objects, because it uses sonar (acoustic measurements). It does detect when a front traffic slows down or when it speeds up. But it *does not" detect that a car in front of your began to move when you are standing at the traffic lights. It means that while in autopilot mode you have to detect this on your own, and in order to move while standing on the red light when it changes to green you have to press gas pedal. Otherwise, the car won't move, and you'll be continuing to stand still. With that specialist autopilot though you don't have to press gas. While at the traffic lights, the car will automatically detect that the front began to move forward, and your Škoda will automatically move forward without you having to press gas pedal. That is clever! You only have to pull that autopilot lever once when you start the car, and you're done. After that the car will not only slow down and speed up in the moving traffic, which is good on a highway, but it also will automatically start at the traffic lights, which is very handy in the city. I really do miss that advanced autopilot in my Superb, and adding it would require retrofitting a new front window with attached camera, and then programming car's ECUs. How to tell a Škoda Superb has an advanced autopilot? The car with that specialist autopilot will have a triangular-shaped notch in the front window, right under the mirror glass. If looking at the front windows from the outside of the car you only see a round-shaped hole, that's a standard autopilot with a sonar incorporated in the front grill. For someone interested, that Škoda is a bit of a disappointment to me. Having driven BMW E84 in various flavors for the last decade, I can't buy in how Škoda behaves on the road. It feels and drives like a large barge. Yep, this saves you from those punches that you get in BMW when you face a pothole on the road, but for that privilege you pay with that waggly behavior that nearly makes you sick.

I much prefer an actual gear knob instead of a little switch. The little switches and buttons for changing gear is a pain in the rear. Much easier to change gear without looking through the feedback and stroke of the knob.. :P but yeah gear stick is better.
Had a Superb Estate before. Driving across France, Roofbox on top, bikes on the back.... motorway speeds.... Noise in the cabin was deafening!! Sold it. Bought a different German estate. (My Skoda said made in Germany on the bulkhead). The replacement car is much quieter. Skoda were great but they have become more expensive, but the cost cutting is still there.

False floors are great though but I see what you mean
This car makes so much sense.
Comfortable, safe and insanely practical.
Suspension? How would you rate that?
@@laarez2339 Definately on the soft side, tends to lean on sharper bends, but immensely comfy for the long drives. I think you can get it with adaptive suspension too.
@@MVTSVK thx m8, how does it behave on “cross ribs”? (Driving through tram or rail crossing), and what about potholes? Does it manage or badly hit the chassis?
Myself has an octavia compay car from 2022, but boi oh boi… I think that suspension tuned intentionally such a piece of crp :D
@@laarez2339 Pot holes, rails etc. takes it relatively well, you don’t get that solid Audi-ish feeling of course. I drive generally slow, so no major complains. No repairs so far too, 35k km.
What "lower image" means?

Picked up my SEL estate two weeks ago, loving it, fantastic car
Just handed our Superb estate back after 4 years, miss it already, great car would certainly get another one.
I bought this car in this colour in late 2019 as it was bigger than the A6, and fully loaded the A6 would have cost £50k, I got the Skoda fully loaded on car wow for £26k. No way is the A6 twice as good! Also i have never ever seen another Skoda in this trim or colour since I have bought mine and I do a lot of miles!!
Soon im going to buy this car from my dad and its looks awesome 😁, there is so many features that my dad didnt ever use... It got almost 2 years but driven only 8000kms its almost totally new
I absolutely love Skoda! I am in India and the Superb here is rather premium with beige or brown leatherette upholstery, and it has a host of features which even an Audi A4 or a BMW 3-series does not provide. like they say, it is 'Simply Clever' !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great quality materials, sizing and design. Estate of the year

You should test the higher equipment level of skoda superb with 272hp engine and absolutely real exhausts. That particularly car from the video ,was poor equipped, and it’s miss a lot of features. For me “Adaptive suspension “ is the best feature in that Skoda.
More stable and confident on “sport”,and on another hand ,very soft and cloudy on “comfort”
Also the 2.0TSI 272ps. engine after MY2018 is the same like Audi S3 and VW Golf “R”
The same engine code “DNU” with the only difference in the software. This is a very important info for the potential buyer.
Cheers! :)

@Teamgeist and?
@Teamgeist yea but it's kinda cute seeing it on a Skoda
The louder engine noise is probably due to less insulation for the engine compartment! I guess money has to be saved somewhere to make up for the difference to the passat!
Superb owner here:
Had the 2018/19 model for over 2 years now. Plus compared it to the new one. A few points:
1. insulation bad.

You always review the estate version of the Superb and never the sedan one, you should review that one day
The saloon/hatch (Skoda call it the limousine) has been way less fun since they ditched combination hatchback and saloon boot lid (The wires would fail after a few years where they went through the saloon hinge if you used it a lot though).
Skoda>VW when it comes to looks and interior!
It beeps because the start stop system is on and it's purpose is to prevent you leaving the car while the engine is (not) on. No need to swear.
If I had a quid for every time Matt said “It’s not as good as the i-Drive system you get in a BMW”, I’d be able to buy one...

Everybody seems to love the Superb and while it has a lot of positives there are some negatives, I'll share my experience. I bought a 2019 Superb Estate Sportline with just over 40k miles. It cost around 18k, more with interest factored into the agreement, about 22k. The positives about this car are well known and don't need listing here (space, value etc. etc.) the negatives I experienced, probably just bad luck but still:
- Every pothole, bump in the road or slightly steep speed bump was a problem, the car crashes into every one sending a loud bang sound into the car and jerking passengers.
Hey Matt, the 272HP 2.0 TSI has real exhaust Pipes.
The car looks really great for its price thats like premium quality like bmw or audi for half the price
Close to premium quality. Indeed. But it's not half the price any more.
it's a brilliant car. i have the estate and use it for towing my race car to tracks apart from everyday use. it has huge trunk space and the front seats are reclinable so you can sleep in case of need. fairly quick, not even bad in turns on good tires, drove it on track even. clearly it cannot be perfect; it's huge and consumes a lot of gasoline but well. it's superb
I drive a Passat estate and have rented a Superb while in Europe. Felt right at home in the Skoda. Both great cars
Skoda is nailing it lately 👍🏻
Matt, you kill me - love your sense of humour, your videos are great.
5:33 - everyone when Matt compares every single car to BMW

Yep, this saves you from those punches that you get in BMW when you face a pothole on the road, but for that privilege you pay with that waggly behavior that nearly makes you sick.
my family have skodas for as long as im alive (12 years) when i was born we still had the 2001 skoda superb limuzine, and 1 year ago we got a 2016 skoda superb estate. so i love skodas, and they are my fav car brand
