Featuring the classic Foreigner line-up of Jones, Gramm, McDonald, Greenwood, Gagliardi and Elliott, this show captures the essence of a group who would go on to become one of the best-selling bands of all time.
On April 27 1978, after their self-titled debut album had spent a year in the US Top 20, rock’s conquering heroes played a sold-out show at London’s legendary music venue, the Rainbow Theatre.
Opening with 'Long, Long Way From Home', the band’s legion of fans were treated to a magnificent display of musicianship and performance, including local hit singles, 'Feels Like The First Time' and 'Cold As Ice', as well as an exclusive preview of two tracks from the upcoming ‘Double Vision’ album.
Forty years on, this definitive performance by the original band has been restored from the original film reels, remixed and remastered for this release.

For those who forgot how F'ing great Lou Gramm was in His prime .. In the top 10 rock Vocalists of all time !! R.I.P. Ed Gagliardi on Bass ...
Kelly Hansen could never touch this.
@@waltersimmons946 he still does pretty good
@@concertfanatic3664 Hes not the first to replace Gramm, Im a Johnny Edwards fan (1991 UNUSUAL HEAT). Johnny , Mark Free (from King Kobra) and Kelly Hansen were the main 3 in the running to replace Lou, and the band chose Johnny Edwards, who came into the band in 1990 , while Lou was still a powerhouse singer who was in Shadow King (1991) . Hansen couldn't compete or got the job, if Lou could sing like he did before the brain tumor and surgery, he still can't touch Lou, Hansens similar to Steven Tyler , Gramm was similar to Robert Plant.
@@waltersimmons946 I just went to the foreigner concert yesterday. Kelly Hansen is pretty damn good man. He sounds great. He may not be the original but he sounds so good in person. You don’t gotta bag on him, he’s got great talent
@@jordynpayne8488 Oh, Im not bagging on him, Im just telling the truth. And Lou was in his prime (25 yrs old) when Foreigner took off and was riding high, Hansen was 44 yrs old when he became the 3rd singer, Hansen is now 60yrs old and since he joined the band from the start ,the keys of the songs are lower than when Lou cowrote and sang the tunes and the tempo of the songs are slower also , than Lous prime live performances. (Easy differences to notice) This reveals part of their aging and showing the youth is long gone and has long left this tribute version of Foreigner but I never said Hansen was a bad singer. I only said he cant touch Lou plus I like Johnny Edwards better (Unusual Heat 1991) anyway, he was chosen over Kelly Hansen in 1990, when Lou left the first time. And on the live performances Edwards vocally sounded way closer to Lou than Hansen and Johnny wasn't trying to imitate Lou. So if it seems Im against Lou being replaced, no, not true. It just not the same Foreigner, that brought the fire and their last major radio hit was in 1988 remember "I dont want to live without you"? It charted at #5. A ballad Lou hated charted well on mainstream Billboard. They were reduced to Classic rock when Lou returned in "92. And Grunge/Gangsta rap took over so Mr.Moonlight up to Hansens own Foreigner recordings had not been major hits , won't get played or carried into the mainstream radio because once the musicians turn 40, its lights out. Hansen really sounded better in Hurricane his old band ,.in his prime
Underrated voice,... foreigner belongs in the hall of fame
whö cares... "nöt one gr8? band evär?? ?
Yes
@UCIJBpAjziSY88AzMPVAAkkg fuck off this comment. Loser
Hof is a disgrace.
Underrated? Foreigner is one of the world's best-selling bands of all time with worldwide sales of more than 80 million records, including 37.5 million in the US. Sold-out arenas, millions of adoring fans. Sounds like a pretty good rating to me
Who cares about awards? Record sales were huge, arenas packed. Lou Gramm & Foreigner added a lot to the 70s and we all appreciated it.
Lou Gramm reaches down, down inside when he sings.. He puts his Whole body into that vocal! So Good
His vocals are so crisp. His range and rasp on command are so good. His vocals are as unique as Perry and Mercury for sure. Finally getting in the RRHOF.
Lou Gramm is the voice of foreigner he has so much passion in his voice this one of my favorite rock band.
Lou Graham's voice was simply amazing in his prime. He is right up there with Steven Tyler, Freddie Mercury, et al... Pick your legendary hard rock or metal singer - Cornell, Plant, Rogers, Daltry, Zander, Dickinson, Halford, Hagar. Graham holds his own with any of them. Legend!
You forget the best, STEVE WALSH!!!!!!!!
Ah. Indeed he has a brilliant voice! While we're at it, let's add in Steve Perry, Dennis De Young, Tommy Shaw, Dio, Bobby Kimball, Ian Gillan, Glen Hughes... so many greats from that era.
Yea i dont think so champ.
He doesnt match up to any of the names you listed. Not one.
@@Voxtender you must be deaf.
Kelly Hansen is a superb vocalist however nothing beats Lou’s vocals. He made Foreigner what this band is today. Never forget about Lou Gramm. Great vocalist, I wish he was able to sing the way he did over 40 years ago
So, no one has a word to say about the keyboard solo in the end? To play at that level while obviously tripping balls is highly impressive!
carl bryant I repeated this solo maybe 7 times , cool as fuck
Lmao
He play like he is poseset :D
Al Greenwood
Lou Gramm, the only dude I’ve ever seen chewing gum while belting out some incredible vocals.
Not only was he chewing it he was monching that stick of gum, surprised he didn't bite his tongue 🤘
I have to check that he is chewing his gum in here.
I’d be afraid I choked on it. Choked on a mint once. Taught me never to sing with anything in my mouth.
Umm, have you ever heard of Dave Grohl?
@@timsullivan67 Of course, I’ve just never seen chew gum at the same time as singing live.
I love Lou, he’s one of the greatest vocalist ever. Wow, I was about 16 when this came out and I had to get it immediately , I’m taking about cold as ice, I remember crusin the town and backroads to foreigner, brings back great memories. Seems Ike no time I was sitting in my bedroom at home writing on this album or planning to sneak out. Na, this does bring back the 80’s tho. On this night in 1984 I was probably doing just that. Huge fan of lou😊❤🎧🎤🎧🎤🎧🎤🎧🎤🎧🎤🎧🎤nervous wreck just praying not to get caught sneaking out
Lou Gramm has the best voice and give so much of himself in every syllable!
Unbelievable that 40 years have flown by since this was recorded! Mind blower.
true :)
but ...HEHEHEHEHEHEHEHE...sorry , gedankenbläser = mind blowing is´nt exist in german language .
das wort "blow" irritiert uns ein wenig :-D
Seen Foreigner in "81" Fucking Awesome 👌 👏 👍 😍 💖 😎
The Keyboard Solo at the end is All That!
The real, original Foreigner that sounds way better than today's replacements !!!!!
One of the finest voices in rock and roll!
So true. Power, range and amazing emotion and inflection.
According to Ian Anderson, the best voice!
His voice,, the man can sing.
What’s the rock n roll hall of fame without the legendary Foreigner ? “ Something’s missing, and it just can’t wait ”
Amazing, so fantastic lou gramm 💥💫💢🤞
Always super when a band can sound this good live.
Bands don't sound this good live anymore without backing tracks and 13 people on stage. Times are different and people don't give their lives towards their art anymore and let's face it.....Young folks don't have backbone anymore. If you try to push them in that direction, they cry like a baby.Anything good takes incredibly hard work with blood sweat and tears. No substitute and no matter how advanced we get, they're never will be.
Stephen Dreher you should listen to the version with Kelly Hansen doing lead vocals, sounds even Better
@@mooseknuckle9657 So you just imagine that all live bands aren't good any more? Wow, what have you been listening to? Maybe you're thinking of Taylor Swift or Katy Perry, but it's moronic and makes me angry when people discount todays music. Do you have any idea how many people are making incredible music nowadays? LOOK for it, you'll find amazing live bands.
@@joeboonmusic4004 yeah no.
@@anton2417 If you don't bother to look, no wonder you're so ignorant.
Yes, one of the most underrated bands and Singer, Lou and the boys never get the recognition they deserve!
One of the most talented and dynamic singers in the history of. Rock n toll 😎🎤🎧🎷🎹
That amazing voice and most entertaining frontman. Loved the tambourine back bend…and, I always wondered how he kept that gum in his mouth. Love you, Lou! ❤
He's at such a calbur of stellar singing.
I remember this piano riff back in the late 70's early 80's. Cold as 🧊 this is a Great vocalist
Rest easy, Ian McDonald. You were an amazing musician and left your stamp on everything you were involved in.
One of my favorite groups of the 70's, Lou Gramm was awesome and Cold as Ice was my girl !!
I saw Foreigner twice in the late 1970s. What a great band and show!
Headknocker from this show, so cool. Ripping!!
The Double Vision Tour...I was fortunate enough to have seen it and it was fabulous !!! :)
The passion and love he has for his songs when he sings them 🔥🔥🤩
All time vocalist. I’ve played with tons of guys and they’d sell their soul to have this character, range and naturalness as a LV. Its just very unusual. Even among good singers, i think they’d all say he’s got serious pipes. Steve Perry, Steven Tyler, Freddie Mercury, Plant - voices you can’t train into… you might get close, but they are so natural with all the stuff
All of the tracks from this concert are golden!
Golden as FU$# !!!!!! 😍😍😍😍😍
Hi there! How I like this human being for being so handsome and kind! Thanks a lot, I'm with this voice over 28 years and I thank him for everything to be sounded in me, especially in ballads! Thanks a lot for sharing this!
Back when music was actually music....
Lou Gramm, you're the best.
Very irritating band.
Absolutely! todays so called bands and singers can only look on in awe at what we had in the 70's and 80's!
@@lazycalm41 Nowadays the music is trivialized. I can not hear these bands today.
And the band was skinny.
One of the best bands and greatest live performances of all time to this day
One of my favorite 70s-80s bands. Classic rock. This is the real deal. My favorite song of theirs is 'I Don't Wanna Live Without You.' I'm glad that the current band called Foreigner is calling it quits.
Those vocals! This is how it's done. Put the work in and do it live.
❤ la media canción.
What a voice
Had the privilege to see 3 different Tours from 1977-1982 All 3 were awesome
AMAZING AUDIO for an old concert
Wow,,,40 years where did they go?? Still awesome to hear it live with Lou!
Ian McDonald passed away from cancer a couple of months ago in NYC at age 75, following the late Ed Gagliardi; Dennis Elliott became a famous sculptor. Mick Jones still President of Foreigner. Lou on his own, probably.
Al Greenwood just blowing us all away on keyboards. Plus the combined talent of the rest of the band makes this one of the very best live performances of a song. Foreigner is the soundtrack to my life.
Still love this band.
Masterpiece !
His vocals are *chefs kiss* I’ll never get tired of hearing his voice
So powerful and passionate! Lou Gramm forever! 💞
One of the greatest rock vocalists ever. No question
No tattoos, no earrings. Just fantastic rock n rock music. Released in 1978. The same year I graduated from High School in Smyrna, Georgia.
No cell phones. No personal computers.
Only a time curfew when in was supposed to be home😂😂😂😂
Lou wore a small earring in his left ear.😊❤
I’m glad Elizabeth Zharoff (from The Charismatic Voice) brought me here after she watched it
the full crew, when they were outstandingly magnificent,GRAMM AND JONES TOGETHER with this lineup were unstoppable ,jones was playing around with doing two different venues of music as music was changing ,and he had the greatest human voice alive that could fill any and all genres of music, lou is an operatic singer who went rock,he is a genius talent, the world says so,other musicians has his music in their libraries,FOREIGNER has front stage every time, there are others, genius is rampant now
Freaking amazing singer!
Rock Giants!!!
Unbelievable that 40 years have flown by since this was recorded! Mind blower.
And sounds fantastic! yes??
, coole Mucke und eine fantastische Kultband.👨🎤🎙💞🎙👩🎤🥁🎸🎚🎶💋😍🤗🔝
I have that shirt ! Warehouse…. New Pl
Orleans ! There’s a company remaking them and selling them ! There’s 2 styles of to choose from ! Good stuff !
Foreigner, the original lineup is still one of my favorite bands of all time. I wore my Double Vision concert shirt until it fell apart. I remember riding my bike to a nearby plaza to buy their first album and stop by the pizza shop for a slice. The plaza is no longer there, although those are some great memories in my youth.
Without lou there is no foreigner just listen to the vocal lines of fool for you .
Brilliant band 🫡
lou is way up there...one of the greatest writer of all time...rock on
He sounded fucking AMAZING. And all while chewing gum.. 💯👏👍
Haha I think he was tripping

This frikn blew my mind! Wow Foreigner.
a la altura de cantantes como Freddie mercury, tan histórico como el a nivel de canto en mi opinión. Deberían valorarlo más
Probably my favorite Foreigner song...Cold As Ice.
I've stumbled into so many people that are that way I can't help but like it . Cold as ice .
Músicão! É muito louco assistir esses vídeos dos anos 70 em qualidade tão boa.
Foreigner na sua fase hard rock é excelente. A banda acabou rotulada pelas baladas (que são ótimas).
Superb quality!
BRAVO...FOREVER FOREIGNER !!!!!
Masterpiece !
Freaking amazing singer!
that's true
They always amaze me!
Just look at Lou Gramm chewing gum and still he hits those high notes!
They are all so excellent!
April 8 2024 Best song ever?
Magnifique !

Never gets old.
Truth .
Wow... first time hearing this rendition. 110%
Love the tone of that Rickenbacker Bass.
GOAT
Espetacular 💜
❤ lo mejor!!!
Lou the voice😍😍😍✌🙏🎤
Omg! Amazing
One of his best performances. Lou Gramm was a legend like very, very few others... unfortunately it's a bit of a shame that he comes across as a bit flashy here. But he was a very profound person
Perfect ! Thx !!
whatt a voice.
However good Foreigner were, there was no guarantee they were going to be successful. Punk, new wave, disco, the fact that Spooky Tooth and King Crimson were seen as "old wave"... When the band was an immediate smash hit, I was surprised but happy. One of the best bands in rock history.
Best singer Lou Gramm ❤
