@@onlyplants I live in thailand and learning from you. Plants here in thailand are grown only in coconut husk and rice husk . But they have definatelly way of liquid fertilizer..
Thank you, Sean! It was very pleasing to know that I am not alone struggling with slow growing syngoniums. I can only speculate why would they do it. I suspect that those are grown from the tissue culture. So I got the top cuttings of the same varieties from private collectors, and these are growing much better.
Yes - That Dischidia is sooo slow LOL I think I may already have grand kids before I see it long and so bushy..Feels kinda good to know its not me but the species..Saw the video you did with Leafing Around and it just made my day!
I loveSansaveria, my mother has an original mother plant that is about 25 years old. She planted offshoots from that plant into her garden in Florida , they’ve grown and have taken over like weeds, lol. Mom and I had to pull many out of the ground to control the spread.
I have a couple of ZZ plants, a normal and a raven. They are both the same size and were purchased a couple weeks apart. I repotted them into a quick-draining, sandy soil (they were in coconut coir when I bought them). The normal ZZ is looks the same, but the raven has 8 growth points all coming up at the same time. It's crazy, but exciting!
Interesting stuff about your ZZs! They all look very nice. I just got a sad ZZ raven who had one good growth point, but now it's putting out four at the same time! So far it's only been just one stem growing out, but I didn't know they grew one stem at a time. I always learn something new in your videos!
1:45 based on IFI CLAIMS it is patented as Dischidia nummularia ‘Ideaminubu’ from 2013 till 2033, now this sp. has closest characteristic between nummularia and supha08.. in short this varieties still observed in many environtment possblities to describe the phenotype-genotype..
I repot my Dad’s regular ZZ in an airy but damp potting mix and place them in direct sunlight for about 6 months ago. They were originally under the shade of giant mango tree and there weren’t any growth so I decided to move them steadily to brighter spot until they can withstand full sun. They received irregular watering schedule (sometimes weekly, sometimes once every 3 days, also there was one time where I water them almost daily 😅 basically I water them when I think it looks dry) and also got rained daily during the wet season. I feed them once with slow release fertilizer and Hormax solution a couple of times during these 6 months. They started as 4 big shoots and now they’re a full 35cm pot plant. There’s almost no space left in the pot for them to push out new shoot now!
Regular ZZ di rumahku cepet banget kok tumbuhnya. Kayaknya setiap kali ditengok pasti ada calon daun baru. Tapi emang proses unfurlingnya itu makan waktu sih. Aku taruh di pinggir teras lantai dua, south facing, bright indirect light tiap hari, direct sun sekitar siang beberapa jam gitu. Siram seingetnya 😂 walaupun kadang siram keseringan juga, tapi untungnya ga busuk. Hampir ga pernah dikasih pupuk Medianya ya cuma tanah kompos, sekam, cocopeat.
I'm very curious about the Stephania because I see many people having them as one of those most hyped plants at home. Please do make one video about it!!
Thank you Sean, I m glad to hear about the stefania , mine, was growing , then I dropped it :(, stop growing and now is the bulb looks a bit wrinkle, not sure if mine is even alive :(, still in a pot and waiting for a miracle ;)
My zz is slow growing but it has burst of new Babies at one time. Usually in the winter, not sure why. I would think if it gets bright light it will grow fast and full but I have it in low light
I began with plant journey with succulents and I always thought they grew quickly so I was surprised to see them on the list but it makes sense!! Now i'm just wondering about your choice fast growing plants!
my understanding was that, dischidia 'Pangolin Kisses'/'Dragon Jade' ( nummularia 'ideaminubu') is a form rather than a hybrid, a random mutation discovered in a greenhouse
My raven zz is growing shockingly quickly! It's putting out so many new shoots, but my Zenzi and regular zz grow so slowly. So it may depend on the plant too!
Well, to be honest, all my plants grow slow compared to you xD I always talk with one friend about how good you are at growing plants, we envy you so much!
Hope you can save your Stephanis Erecta. It is very popular and inexpensive in my country. Actually I can send a few to you. Just let me know. My Variegated ZZ plant is super slow growing. 😭
I just got the Dragon Jade today and looking for information on internet. I wish to keep him with me alive as long as possible as he is the last one in the shop! 🥺
Can't agree more with the ZZ Propagate lots of them and Idk if they want to live or not, just a bulb with lot of roots with starting leaf and little or no sprout at all, lol
They are saying "be patient humans" :-) I've propagated ZZ cuttings - it's been 8 months now and they have developed the bulbs but no shoots. Waiting game continues :-)
For some reason hearing about people’s cat-plant problems always put a smile on my face. These small soft creatures terrorising people’s homes. Adorable and funny
Hi Sean! My Dragon Jade has been giving me yellow tips at the growth points. Do you know what that might mean? It's in a very chunky mix and gets medium indirect light
good 1! I'm newbie plant mama so when they grow slowly ... I often wonder omg what's happening ... did I do something wrong... so they will cause me to stress / panic and overdrive.... not for me I think! :(
@@onlyplants Yes they are definitely spores. But you cannot harvest those because ferns are Pteridophytes and they(spores) need water for their fertilization. They are not seeds. We cannot just harvest and store them. Don't do anything they will propagate on their own. I hope that helps. Happy planting. Love you ❤️
Ok Sean, I don't doubt your experience and expertise with houseplants but I couldn't disagree more with you about ZZ plants. In my experience, when they get good light and adequate water, they will grow like crazy. I gave my office neighbor a 6 inch pot about a month ago and he put it in on a high shelf in a room without windows. There are currently 5 tiny new shoots sprouting out. My understanding is low light tolerant plants tend to be fast growers when they get medium to bright indirect light.
Hello, I have some of these grown in direct sunlight too and they are quite slowww. But I do hear stories of peoples plants growing quickly so maybe I havent figured out the care yet. Or maybe its got to do with luck or the DNA or the plant in hand?
@@onlyplants Make your own luck ;-) For a zz plant in direct sun I would suggest combining your aroid potting mix with a terra cotta pot and water at least once a week or whenever it dries out. Sounds crazy, but cacti in direct summer sun can take multiple waterings per week according to an expert. I suspect the limiting factor for growth of your plant is water.
@@onlyplants From my own ZZ I found that they spontaneously go dormant up to 4 months long. You can water, fertilize, whatever - nothing is going on. Wow, that's unusual plant,
lovely,and interesting.
Thank you.

Rumour says one particular Nummularia has been since the Aztecs and has grown 3 shoots since then!
😅😅

Wrinkle but hard/firm bulb may be sign of underwatering. Squeeze it gently. If its mushy and soft it could be rotten/overwatered
Thank you, I will do that. Seems underwater for sure, no rotten, thank you for the tip :)

Thank you ☺️
I think they are spores not scale on the blue oil fern. They are in such regular pattern, it cant be scale ☺️

Ooo I have a video in that a few weeks ago do check that out. 😀

Interesinggg
Good like full
It definitely look like spores on the fern. The little dots are too uniformed to be scales.
In Canada my hoya hindu rope, green has grown a foot and a half. I have flowers about to bloom...♡
My raven zz is growing shockingly quickly! It's putting out so many new shoots, but my Zenzi and regular zz grow so slowly. So it may depend on the plant too!
Maybe they need to be more established...

Sean, in another channel Mypetitegarden she places her hoya in terrariums to make them grow faster.
Ooo interesting... maybe the humidity...

Lol, that's why, at least it's your loving cat who's munching on it, mine is our neighbors kitties
Hi Sean! My Dragon Jade has been giving me yellow tips at the growth points. Do you know what that might mean? It's in a very chunky mix and gets medium indirect light
That means it is overwatered and possibly not enough light too. See if you can increase light and back off with watering a bit
@@onlyplants thanks! I’ll try moving it to a sunnier spot and backing off watering
I got my first microsorum thailandicum, those are spores.
I always get worried when I don't see new growth on my plants for awhile, but as long as their not yellowing or browning then it's okay.
I realize it is quite off topic but do anyone know of a good site to watch newly released series online ?
@Kendall Matthias I dunno I'd suggest Flixportal. you can find it through google :) -adriel
@Adriel Tucker thanks, I signed up and it seems like they got a lot of movies there :D Appreciate it !!
@Kendall Matthias No problem :D
good 1! I'm newbie plant mama so when they grow slowly ... I often wonder omg what's happening ... did I do something wrong... so they will cause me to stress / panic and overdrive.... not for me I think! :(

Yes those are 100% definately spores
I think it’s spores. That caudex plant does go dormant.
