- Today we are checking out a Super Mario World hack by Mr. MS, called "Play to Win". This hack, without a doubt, is the most aesthetically pleasing Mario game I've played and on top of that, IT'S REALLY FUN TOO!
Check out this hack here: www.smwcentral.net/?p=section...

Wow, DGR's playing a fanmade mario game designed to be FUN instead of miserable! Crazy stuff
Are those allowed!?
15:03 this might possibly be the coolest Mario level I've ever seen. Just something about it. How creative.
It’s similar to Celeste farewell
I love this. Most of the times custom SM levels are just a bunch of difficult tricks to pull in a row, put together for sake of creating something hard to beat. This is the opposite, a genuinely nice and funny run. It doesn't have a 100% SMW feel to it but it's similar enough that it could almost pass as a sequel, the level design is top notch (although I feel like there are too many powerups) and they managed to create something new without resorting to cheap tricks and without misusing the physics. Great stuff.
(Absolutely blown away by aesthetics!) *rushes through every level*
This game truly is art. I hope even Nintendo themselves approves of this game!
The sprites in this game are so good, they make all other sprites look like 7up!
First
HAHAHAHAHA! BECAUSE 7UP IS A DRINK AND YOU CAN GET 7 LIVES IN MARIO! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!
@@nfglegos 🤣
Thanks for this one DGR! This is a great looking hack and it looks really fun to play!
Chrono Trigger sewer music in the sewer level!?
And friggin' Zozo in the ghost house?!?
Yep. This is fantastic.
this was an amazing video dave, and the super mario oddyssey music was good too
The first DGR video I see after a few days. I see they managed to convince Dave to wear both the hot dog and the wrestling outfit. Nice 😂
Love how Chris made a point of NOT cutting out all those silly deaths, lol!
I love that it looks like they’re using a lot of sprites from super princess peach. I always loved the aesthetic of that game being somewhere between SMW and Yoshis Island.
Sadly when I first played this it was an untitled hack and it also had no saves so you really had to farm lives :C
I still enjoyed it, but finishing with a looping bonus room was pretty confusing! I did appreciate the graphics...
Eventually I came back to play the updated version but I don't think I managed to finish it...
Nice to see a full playthrough of this!
9:27 Super Ghouls And Ghosts first level BG! That's fine though - this looks like a great hack. Another DGR playthrough to make my week. ^_^
I love the Paper Mario music! Especially at the beginning!
Thank you Dave, Amanda, and Chris!
As much as it's fun to watch Dave struggle through troll levels, it is also a just a beautiful thing to watch him play and enjoy a really good rom hack!
I love that Dave is now playing adventure Rom Hacks. I rarely see big youtubers do these types of hacks, I really only see Kaizo. This side of the SMW Spectrum is underrated. Another really good hacks, are called the VLDC series. They are really really good hacks.
Adventure ROM-hacks are fun to play from time to time, but a bit boring to watch. This one really looks beautiful though
@steffensimon2949 I can understand that, I can see how people would say, but would'nt that also go for kaizo ones too, I love kaizo hacks. They are a good challenge to take one
How does a person go about playing these rom-hacks? Do i have to get my switch hacked? 🙃
@JXMESY-88 This is not on switch I forgot how you do it, but you need to ask the experts about that
@EraX52 rr right ok, cheers mate 👍
7:08 lol took the Chargin' Chuck with him.
Ghost house with ff3 (6) music. ❤
I hear Megaman crystal man stage theme. 19:05
DGR entered the alternate timeline where the SNES CD came out and he's playing Super Mario World 2 CD xD
@15:15 The song is from the Bonk game for the snes in the space level for any whom that cares
thanks! i was hoping someone in the comments identified it.
i feel like i recognize it, but if i did, it had to be from a friend sharing it with me briefly in the mid-00s.
honestly i'd be pretty surprised if i did recognize it from that, but i also haven't heard of bonk since then either and i still recognize the name 😄
Game: "BONUS GAME"
Dave: "Is this bonus?"
Video games consoles are also musical instruments. Composers can make some amazing original or remixed music. On it. You need to be a musician and understand code. What a combo
I remember this hack. It's ducking art.
Song in the space dolphin level is Twilight Space from Super Bonk
"Crazy old Maurice. He's always good for a laugh."
19:23 is a Mariofied version of Crystal Man from Mega Man 5
21:03 Mouser fight is Saga Frontier battle music.
45:20 is Breath of Fire Agua Temple dungeon music.
41:30 Fugiens Navis is likely Portuguese for Fire Ships. 21:03
29:55 The song did not originate from Kirby's Adventure, but this remix did. It originated from the GBA remake, Kirby's Nightmare in Dreamland. It's based on the same song in Kirby's Adventure though.
This man was COOKING with this music
I was freaking out when Pandora Palace from Deltarune started playing
Same!!
It's nice to see a traditional hack.
Bonus stage sounds like Chex Quest...
Some elements of this made me wonder if it's playable on original hardware.
23:57 maybe with the special power up that you can get from Yoshi's house
That song from the Dolphin Space always reminds me of Saint Seyia's theme (It's from Super Bonk)
This is what Mario would look like or he got the Sonic Mania treatment.
Ohhhhh! I have to play it to win?! That makes sense.
42:53 You mean "Fry Guy" 😂
In addition to Underground Sewer, I was pleased to hear the lesser known "Battle 2" from Chrono Trigger (unused in the game, only heard on the soundtrack) - in the boss battle at 10:48. Also, the music segment starting at 28:54 *sure* sounds like "Burn! Bobonga!" from Chrono Trigger. Plus, a nice choice of Secret of Mana music for the wintery overworld.
Oh, and at 10:27 - "How are you intended to do that part?" With a jump. One regular jump. Over the thwomp. :-P
Very cool game overall. And very accessible.
I dunno, the title of "Most Beautiful Mario Fangame" might still go to Super Mario 63 Redux in my book.
That bee guy’s just a crazy old man 🤓
Love ur outift!
It's beautiful...
Unless he's never played them, I'm surprised & disappointed Dave didn't recognize the OSTs from Chrono Trigger & FF6.
I don't often get the opportunity to catch a livestream, so now I'm wondering what caused Dave to wear both the hotdog suit and the singlet.
Veery cool hack world!
This hack gives me so many ideas for my own except I don't know a thing about coding and have no desire to learn
These hacks are awesome!
I do hope that the hack creator can dump all of the sprites on TSR, cause these are some just amazingly beautiful works that I want to be seen in future hacks by people
If anyone wanted to know Fugiens Navis means Fleeing The Ship
Megaman 5 - Crystal Man was the song from the stage at 18:25 ish
23:28 i get a Ganon from Zelda vibe of it
The song playing in "Ghosts (We're All)" is a BGM from Final Fantasy 6, which plays when your party arrives in Zozo. You're welcome.
Also - never ask an Ouija board anything about Zozo. IT ENDS BADLY.
8:05 Music: Sword of Mana GBA Devius's palace (Chain of Fate)
That was awesome!
Everybody walk the dinosaur
Puffed sleeves
Sorry I had to stop and comment this: Why is the sky theme the Training Mode theme from Knuckles Chaotix? My heart skipped a beat when I heard that. The only reason I know it is because I searched for it to use in my Chaotix animation, but nobody else should know what that is because I think three people would ever recognize something from the soundtrack of Knuckles Chaotix. Cept me because I’m… that much of a Sonic fan apparently. Anyways, that’s my current comment.
23:50 Ganon?
Slade didnt retire... I just saw him streaming a few days ago.
Dave doesn't know he can spin-jump Boos? Has he ever played Super Mario World?
To be fair, it's probably because he spends more time playing Mario Maker than anything else - and you can't in those games (even in the SMW style), so he's not used to it.
@@Rocky2418 That's what I mean, he should balance the table between old games and new games, not play just the new games.
i love rom hacks
Is he wearing the hot dog suit and the DGR singlet? ...Cursed.
45:24 lol
The drawing in the background of the pokey pencil level is a ballerina pig
I wonder if Dave is a Steelers fan.
26:31 this is a theme from deltarune!!
😭OMG I lost my mind with happiness when I saw my favorite mario maker hot dog, playing a mario hack with music from Chrono Trigger!🥲 Also fun fact, DGR is the same height as Crono 🫡
to-ad
also, what song plays during the cloud section?
this looks like something made in a old program called Mario Bros. X
2:27 what the heck??? Music from Chrono Trigger
The drawing is Gannon...?
Did anybody manage to identify the music from the space dolphin level?
Bro forgot how to beat wart
MM6 is the best NES megaman game
Final Fantasy VI is also acceptable if you’re a European or an Australian, Dave.
23:30 Isn't the the big bug from Mario Paint?
37:07 Anyone know the name or have a link to this remix?
ay, DGR! im making a super mario maker level, and i want you to beat it! :>
Couldn't you have said it was a hack in the title?
Wtf is Dave wearing. What did Twitch do to him?
Dave play my troll level its ID is DTH-RT8-3PF. It’s never been cleared and I have forgotten the answer.
Here is playlist link to all the music for each level and overworld
ruclips.net/p/PLFBCBEdrXs4Mh9-Wkv7yvQXNhLHBe-GWf&si=3wvMwzfjHY2LEqbs
Nice lol
Hi
In the Jungle overworld area, the song that you're bopping out to (where you complain about somebody feeling nothing) is from the Super Adventure Island soundtrack. It is a cool background song, but I feel most of the music of that game was better suited for different environments compared to where they actually used the songs. It's a weird soundtrack.
Also, that first level with water in the desert world (called something like "Finally Water") has a song from Sparkster for the SNES. I think it was a desert stage for that game as well.
🤔
I don't get it? Why is the art a big deal? Isn't it just SMW?
Hey, you! Yes, you. Stop scrolling for a second and take a moment to say THANK YOU to Dave, Amanda, Chris and all the DGR team, for making our days brighter and more enjoyable!

And if you really mean it, like the video instead of this comment. :-D
Bro fr made a Comment to sound like a TV commercial
And it was Good
AHHH IM EARLY
DGR DO NOT USE WORD SICK LIKE THAT DUMBA**
Hey Dave? In the SNES era only, our FF3 was Japan's FF6, and our FF2 was Japan's FF4.
Pay attention: FF1, FF2, FF3, FF4, FF5, FF6.
I think I’m first😊
@Galaxarine 👍
