    Not an issue or anything but to get more natural looking darks, it’s better to mix your primary color with its compliment instead of adding black. In this case it works out alright because you’re adding black to a deep blue. But when darkening lighter colors like yellow or flesh tones, adding the compliment prevents it from looking dirty in the shadowed areas

    Good video but a couple questions why did you not prime it? I feel like that would cause issues later on and you didn't pin the parts together ca glue is fine but I dont think I'd rely soly on it especially with there being no support under the legs

    • @dragnridr05
      @dragnridr05 2 года назад +2

      No need for pinning. The model is keyed for that reason. The body can be hollowed out with drain holes in the keys so it can be lighter weight. Super glue does just fine holding the model together unless you plan on man handling it like a 2 year old.

    • @3DPrintedProps
      @3DPrintedProps  2 года назад

      IU was out of prime and just wanted to see what would happen. Not smart, but I really wanted to paint it. The glue is totally fine for such a small figure. If it was heavy or something I would have used epoxy. :)

    • @enochdarkk7871

      If you want the best results then prime.
      Black for darker colors.
      White for lighter colors.
      Grey for a mid-ground.
      Alternatively you can use just black paint for darker colors.
      You can also mix Gesso with black and you get a solid grey primer, works well for me.

    I have just one question. Why would you use lighter colors for highlight and darker for shadows? It`s a 3D object. Light actually hits it and creates highlights and shadows like in real life (because it`s real life, not a 2D model). Nice work thou, I was just wondering.

    • @3DPrintedProps

    • @dragnridr05
      @dragnridr05 2 года назад

      Unlike full scale stuff, lights and shadows play differently on smaller scaled items. Plus you are painting a 3d picture of something. Highlights and shadows can add detail that would otherwise be lost in the light and shadows that are NOT to scale with it.

    Do you not primer everytime you paint a figure? I’ve only been painting resin for 6 months so sorry for the noob question!

      I found the answer in the comments, seems
      You just ran out of primer (:

    Did you sand the entire print?

      Mostly, but for something this fine you have to be careful, so I didn't go to crazy on the face.

    does it matter what paint u use? i got acrylic paint but it doesnt really lay color on the grey resin, it just looks very low opacity :/ even tried thinenr doesnt seem to add any color lol

    • @3DPrintedProps
      @3DPrintedProps  2 года назад

      You should go over a primer, I was just out. Better quality paints will also go on thicker and therefore have more opacity. Don't water them down, they will be less opaque and more like a wash.

      Even after primer, do NOT go heavy handed with the colors. Light layers. You can always add, but never take away paint.

    What kind of grit sand paper did you use to smooth some parts on the model? Do you usually wash the prints before priming and painting it? I’m thinking of getting some resin models from some of my favorite artists and want the models to look it’s best. Also is this a 3.2 inch model or something bigger? Sorry for loads of questions.
