The thing I've always loved about George is how despite his massive stardom and success, he obviously cares very much about family and staying true to his roots.
I was born the year after Boy George and we went to the same secondary school - Eltham Green. He was the year above me but I dont remember him - but maybe played truant a lot. I know he hated school but I loved it. He might remember me as the artistic 14 year old with a moustache :). I lived not far from him and those sets brought back memories of my childhood. The wallpaper was vile, TVs small and adults smoked all the time. He has led a chequered life but I admire him for his personality and peseverance.
When George said he wanted to be loved it resonated so much. I think that’s all any of us who were known as “weird” or “different” have ever longed for. ❤❤❤ I love him so much … so he has accomplished being loved and millions of people have loved and continue to love him, too.
That first paragraph of your comment, about those of us who were known (and, in my case, bullied) for being weird or different carries such a profound meaning. Thank you for posting those words.
I respect George so much for doing this. I’m a child of the 70’s and grew up in Hackney, East London. I could relate so much to a lot of what George has gone through. Having a very moody angry father. My parents were from Jamaica. The very loud wall paper, brown furniture, and record player Hi fidelity gram. Records made me fascinated with music. Thank you George for just being you. I love George’s giggle and colourful hats. Mum had a large singer sewing machine and would make some of my clothes.
i love boy george It must be very emotional for him to be there A talented and unique artist adorably sincere and honest with his fans always Blessings to him🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
Boy George is TV Gold! He has the courage to be himself and be cheerful. I completely relate to the triggers he experienced when returning to his Irish childhood home. People were only doing their best under difficult circumstances. Go George!
❤ l love how he so honest just himself doesn't try to be someone else. Its like what you see is what you get. Love him. God bless him love to have a cup of coffee with him and just chat with him ❤
I love his mother sure strong lady ♥ not had an easy life, her and George together sure a strong bond between them.I lost my mother 12 years ago and miss her so much she liked George.
This was touching and made me cry. An interesting experience to look Back and BE in the ACTUAL space we grew up in ( I have yet to do this, pictures alone are enough of a trigger) I definitely relate to your dysfunctional family dynamics😞
His mum's book "Cry Salty Tears" is a great read. What a strong woman who suffered under his dad's tyranny. Her love for George is palpable throughout.
I Love it when George says.. 'alright Kev', and Kev goes ' alright bruv'... It's not often you see where George comes from. Class... What an amazin guy....
A minha Mãe morreu faz 4 anos....deixei a casa e entrei numa depressão profunda.
I would hate to go back to my childhood home. I would be a total mess. Its taken me 45-50 years to find inner contentment and peace. It would take an absolute fortune to get me near the place . I feel for you Sir.
Wow We had the same old record player, sewing machine and land line phone. Farrah Fawcett etc Thanks 4 telling your story, happy and sad and mostly honest!
I inherited my mothers younger sister’s record player when I was a kid. It looked very much like the one George left carrying. Sadly I no longer have the original record player but I managed to find a similar one a few years ago. I still have all the vinyl that came with my aunts one though! I absolutely lived for music - it was my saviour then and it remains so to this day. Such a powerful trigger to old memories.
I love this man, so sharp and entertaining. Our office went on a coach trip to Belgium some years ago a d George kept us singing to Karma Chameleon all the way to Brussels. Thanks for the music George, a great favourite of mine.
Nice to see his family and his relationship them. It’s not always easy going back home, sometimes the memories can hurt, but can also help heal. Going back home for me personally isn’t anything that I ever want to do. I have been back many times because it was demanded, but now it’s been sold and I never need to return. I remember a sort of panic and anxiety as I drove into town. I’m very happy never to have to go back to that town or that house.
Thanks so much for the channel. I remember first seeing him on Top of the Pops with my family as a kid and my parents saying is it a man or a woman. I think Culture Club and a few other groups planted the seeds for my lifelong love of Reggae music. It’s not until years later that he’s getting the recognition he deserves. 🏳️🌈🪷🕉
Thanks for sharing somthing so personal, been Irish and brought up in very small terrace house with big family in the 90s, i can relate also to much of the family politics and dramas❤ you look great too George ❤
Makes me grateful to have happy memories of great parents that got along. At 12, I whined to go with my big brothers to see Cream, only I got to go. My big brother became a musician who is successful also.
George should definitely do more of this sort of stuff his personality is fascinating. I remember feeling an outsider as a youngster but for different reasons to George I came from a broken home and just my Mum and no brothers or sisters, only kid in my school from dysfunctional family and was pretty so got bullied at school as I dressed in a way to feel older to protect myself and look for a father figure. Different situation but very similar feelings of feeling an outsider.
Just watching this a good few years after the original programme aired. My house in London is not that far from the second house next to the watertower. I didn't realise he lived there.
You have a good Soul,. I dressed like you for Halloween party 🥳 and everyone said that I was your double. I have a picture of it. I was listening to your music 🎶 🎵 and being proud. Culture Club Made me dance. Love is the key 🔑 💕
I love your voice and how you are so down to earth, my mum god bless her would be 101 now I’m 75 but loved listening to you and Madonna me liked you, Elton John , and Queen lol all you gays such lovely lad xxxx
Brings back a lot of memory’s my brother had a record player and used to play records and we have to say who was the singer our family was very similar always a drama a lot of us in the family mothers having to put up with everything been one of the younger ones guess i loved been from big family
It’s amazing to me how some of these artists can take less than a handful of popular songs and make a decade’s career outta it. That’s the real talent! He definitely comes to mind. Cyndi Lauper comes to mind. Joan Jett,Billy Idol,Flock of Seagulls many many others 3 to 5 well known songs they’ve been playing and eating off of for decades. Great marketing
Ronnie Wood Helped Rod write "Every Picture Tells a Story" I was shocked I didnt know Ronnie was a Real song-Writing Legend along with all his other Legendary Talent He plays an Instrument where sits-down & strums it I dont know if that is called steal-Guitar & His ART-Gallery is Amazing & his Guitar-playing is Legendary Melinda
Kevin I’d see sometimes on Herbert road & we used the same Optitions 🤓 (Payne & Hunter) we’d all stay in there for a chat with Ann the receptionist ❤❤❤
The thing I've always loved about George is how despite his massive stardom and success, he obviously cares very much about family and staying true to his roots.
Yes, the scenes with his brother, Richard, he is very happy just to be with him. . .

Love George ❤️ love for his mother is obvious x
Georges brother getting close to tears saying how he worried about their mother choked me up. It's the most helpless feeling ever...
Like the way George gave footnote to his difficult childhood. His strong mum and loves form siblings made him an interesting and humble person.
His voice, even his speaking voice, is beautiful
