Great video!! I have a question 🙋🏽♂️. I’m using the Akai force and made midi track to send midi to my Akai Mpc Live2 to play the plug-in. Can I do the program changes like this?
As I don’t have any MPC’s anymore, I’m not sure how that will work…if the plugins on the Live can read CC’s, then you can do this. But having thought about it, they’re the same as Force (HYPE), and I don’t think they do…
@@nicethings do you think if you make a midi track with your midi information(chords, bass line, etc.) and have it sent to the program change clips, would this make a smoother transition between the changes? 🧔🏽♂️🤔
@@nicethings I went back to working on both devices alone and not together. They both have the same stuff for the most part. The program changes are hella slow and I wish Akai would improve this because I like the idea a lot.
Hello Tom NiceThings ! First, thanks for your videos, it's an amazing help ! I have a small question... In one of your videos, you show how to have record section just above the drum pads. I watched your videos again and again, but I don't manage to reach that on my Force... Can you help me ? (I tried to activate the arrangement in clip matrix, but it only make that my I clips have play logo button in them...) Thanks in advance !
Cheers, keep that to arranger matrix on, it’s really helpful. To answer your question: LAUNCH + NOTE = Launch Clips at the top, Keys & Drums on the bottom 4 rows.
Thanks, I just run everything manually thru Ableton; MIDI IN to my MOTU M4, then audio out back to the Force ins. I realised after uploading the video that I switched off monitoring on my Motu, but otherwise I record everything via clips. Like I said, some Komplete stuff doesn’t use Program Changes e.g. Kontakt don’t.
I am not sure why you go this route though. Instead of making a clip just to have the PC; why don't you record the part you want in that clip, then in the clip options you can set the PC, MSB and LSB values for the patch you want to set. As long as your device takes midi CC commands, it should be able to switch to whatever program change you want. Maybe this is something you need to do only for internal engine plugins, not for external devices?
You can’t change PC via Track settings automatically, probably for good coding conflicts reasons. So if you choose to change patches, you’ll have to do it manually, per track. This way - you can change PC, at any time, which is far more flexible.
@@nicethings I am able to swap preset on my external synths on a track, tapping on different clips. Basically as soon as the clip start to play, the PC command is sent; when a different clip in the same track is selected, I can call PC again. This is how I am able to use one synth for different parts, alternating the patch it plays. I press the edit button plus the clip button I want to use to trigger the PC; then in the clip settings I change the MSB and LSB and the PC number, and that trigger the change as soon as the clip start to play
Thank you for all these vids you put up. Thank you for your work my man, Thank you!
sheehs! wasn't aware it could affect program changes to itb plugins

@@nicethings I can try it out. I think I might be the only person on RUclips that use their Mpc like that.
@@nicethings Could you set up particular scales or keys for each clip with the program change as well?

@@nicethings Works perfectly, thanks !
How are you set up to control the synths in contact Tom? Ableton Link or you using midi din to usb or what? Excellent vid my man, good work!!

@@nicethings so I guess you could auto-sample the Kontact synths with that set up then yes? Perhaps you could do a tutorial on that?
