Always great to watch these two guys together. The cars are facinating and the Newport footage and history make this a winning production. Looking forward to many more episodes.
This is a FANTASTIC SHOW. Can’t wait for the next episode. I’ve never been to Rhode Island and hope to get there next summer after COVID is behind us.
We hope.
Except for Newport theres not much to see
@@theone2be33 said nobody ever
Great video, gents. Keep up the good work 👌
Soooooo why didn't you drive the little fiat?😁
Osborne acts the same in person. I saw him at a car show once. He's was warm and friendly yet laid back.
I say he would be a great guy to have a drink with!
Knowing him, it would be a glass of wine.
@@nielgregory108 Very true...
These guys are hilarious together... I love this intro...
I love these guys. Jay is such an easy-going, salt-of-the-earth kind of guy and Don is a dapper, worldly gentleman. They have such a fantastic rapport and both retain an incredible memory of automobile history.
sorry to be so offtopic but does any of you know a way to get back into an instagram account..?
I was stupid lost the login password. I appreciate any help you can offer me!
@Axl Nixon Instablaster :)
@Alessandro Coleman I really appreciate your reply. I found the site thru google and Im in the hacking process atm.
Seems to take a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
@Alessandro Coleman It worked and I finally got access to my account again. Im so happy:D
Thanks so much you saved my account :D
@Axl Nixon No problem =)
45 seconds in you can see that Mr Osborne has style!
He can sing, too.
Five seconds
"Stylage"
Love the Felix and Oscar “Odd Couple” intro.
It has been so long since I saw that show I completely missed it here. Yet it did look awfully familiar to me.
25 years ago in London at the Royal Haymarket Theatre I saw them Tony Randall and Jack Klugman wonderful..
LOL it didnt even dawn on me and I LOVED that show.
You two guys are THE BEST!!! More, more, MORE!!!
“Fish tends to smell worse than pizza.” LOL
I really enjoyed this episode. Combining Newport history with the history of automobiles is a great concept. I look forward to more.
A proper pizza has anchovies and Limburger cheese ! so how can that be possible ?
He replied 'Depends on the toppings". 😅
A flawless production, though I thought Jay's iPhone pandemic additions were pretty damn good.
I appreciated the occasional thumb over the lens
@@spacepope-1 I like the pandemic videos as well, I suspect Jay prefers having a cameraman (camera person).
jay looks good here. he worked hard, used his money wisely, and now he is enjoying his life and his cars. well done!
He's still working hard :)
@@bob-wo3ir but he does not have to. big difference.
@@bob-wo3ir but he does not have to. big difference.
..and now he really seems to be doing what he enjoys.
i admire his work ethic. he is 70 years old now. the previous tonight show hosts went home and you rarely saw them again.
@@packrcch Lucky for us he does do random appears!
I think he could use a haircut
Great camera work. I really love the closeups of all that shiny brass on the Fiat. All the cars had fantastic workmanship and the filmmakers really captured the beautiful period details.
This is exactly what a car show should be, not manufactured drama and people angrily throwing tools across a shop, but folks who know what they're talking about, who understand the history and the societal factors behind the models being what and how they are. Jay and Donald have great chemistry and I'll gladly watch them driving around, having a good time and a great conversation.
Or guys named Rutledge trying to convince us he's cool.
Life-long Rhode Islander-big fan of both you guys-hope you both stay forever! Both are a perfect compliment to Newport! Peace guys!
Thank you for the support. Come visit the museum sometime!
These 2 guys should be on television in a remake of the Odd Couple.
Different styles of brilliance and great looks!
How did I not know about this? Love Jay, love cars, and love Jay & Donald together talking about cars!
Thank you Jay - "if it doesn't feel like the original car, why did you do it?"
I'm only 34 and I love this keep it coming guys jay and oz perfect combination no matter if it's jay show or his they're on
And I'm 41... nobody cares dude
What does your age matter??? Wierd.
I’m 234 years old and I love cars
This is a great format. A combination of the cars and their environments. I love seeing Jay's garage too though.
yes
Wish they'd build modern cars looking this cool!
Great detailed description of the cars I hope the opening thought isn't missed. Jay eating pizza. A total paradox
That is not really Jay Leno, couldn't be, he was not wearing a denim shirt.
This was his cousin East coast Jay
That was his upscale Newport wardrobe.
If you've never been there, the coastline of Rhode Island is truly breathtaking.
As long as you don't try to find parking you are all set.
I’m completely with Jay on his resto-mod statements. I used to work in the old car parts business. I used to say; “if you want a new car, go buy one”. I love the old-is-new-again look that is so popular with hot rods these days. Even if the car isn’t all original ‘32, I just lose interest when I look inside and find digital gauges.
Two if my favorite car guys in my favorite place - Newport!!
Thanks for doing this - keep it up!!!
My wife and I visited Newport, RI a few years ago over the Thanksgiving weekend and just loved the place. It was fun touring the mansions that were dressed up for Christmas. For lunch and dinner on different days, we ate at the bar in the Brick Alley Pub & Restaurant and made friends with about 7 or 8 very welcoming people. One couple had a cabin up in Maine next to a couple that we knew from our home town of Fairbanks, Alaska.
10k subscribers but 91k views? come on people. click that subscribe button. I would crudely say this is East Coast Jay Leno Garage.
What a duo! I could watch these two all day and Don Osborne is one of this world greatest characters. Love the whole ethos of this show. The cars are fantastic. The houses, like the cars, are from a different age. I’m a Brit and never visited America but if I ever did, this is the part of the country I’d love to see.
Such a fun video! The guys, cars and Seaweed were awesome and so very well produced. Look forward to the next episode!
I can see these two getting into a car and automatically transporting them to a scene from the year it was made. This would be a fantastic show that would have both humor and drama. These time machine episodes would be educational and entertaining and draw in a huge audience. Jay always talks about the great auto engineers of the past and imagine if they went back in time and were able to talk to them or at least watch them as they went through their trials and tribulations. I know that everyone that watches these two would be avid fans of this show. Well guys, how about it?
What a wonderful combination, Jay and his self effacing humor and knowledge along with the class and equal knowledge of Mr. Osborne. I trust that this is the start of a fabulous channel. Thank you had best regards to all.
you want to be the gardener at the mansion, spend more time there and a lot less expenses. also the salt spray will stay in the air and travel a mile or more inland when it storms. great for corrosion.
Don and Jay,
What a combo!!!
And your love of cars is inspiring! I salute all your achievements!👍👍
I know that opening was just supposed to be funny and entertaining, but I bet that's not far from how it really is when they travel. 🤣💙
This was fantastic! The great repartee between Donald and Jay, a beautiful house, three intriguing automobiles, and and wonderful drive down Bellevue Ave and around Ocean Drive. We even got a glimpse of Jay’s house in the background. Keep the episodes coming.
This is informative and informal. I enjoy learning something new everyday and this doesn't disappoint . I adore all things automotive and enjoy architecture so it's a win win . The topping on the cake is Donald and Jay who gently pull each others legs each trying to outdo the other but don't care who wins . Lovely ! Thankyou both .
Felix and Oscar go for a drive! What a hoot. Thanks for lightening, and enlightening, during this trying year. Love it!!!
Great video can’t wait for the next episode
We all know loves his pizza from monte carlo's ( sausage, real thin! A medium and a large!)
Glad Jay’s back in New England. His new house is truly beautiful, too m
Love that 39 I agree keep it as original as possible.
Heard about on Spike's podcast. Subscribed.
I love how the back seat of the Chevy master deluxe is a 3/4 seat.
Great job guy's I'm looking forward to more episodes. I agree with Jay about the Chevy if you modify an old car you need to keep it's soul intact. I also like Donald's comment about getting Jay to bring some of his cars here I'd love to see few of them at the Audrain.
why does he keep pressing and lifting the gas like that... you cant just keep constant speed with the gas pedal?
I enjoyed Newport as a duty station...The Naval War College was a pie assignment in the late 70's.
Thank you guys, I just learned some more history about where I live, Poughkeepsie, NY that Fiat Mfg Plant was here, I think the building still is around & in needing to be repaired state though...
Maskless fearless these 2 men have ended the covid pandemic, I salute you both. There you go folks, you got it all in black and white
I love the dinner sean ! absolutely perfect.
That was awesome! You guys are great! You are having lots of fun.
It would be fun to just hang out with these two! I have always liked Jay and his passion for unique, and ordinary cars. A Real car guy!
What a great way to bring a smile to the masses in 2020. Thank you gentlemen!
Love it when j and Donald get together and do a episode they both have a great knowledge,, food is definitely donald, s thing, very healthy.
I want to see Jays house
I believe they are at Jays house in the second episode
Owsome cars, two of my favorite gentleman talking about great cars, thank you very much for charing.
It leaves me to know people who know so much about antique cars & mansions!....plus explaining sea air!...GRAND!
I have always had classic cars and love them. I got a complaint that none of cars even have a passenger air bag. So I fixed that! Got a small brown paper lunch bag. Folded the top over and stapled it shut and and put a ribbon on it. Wrote with a sharpie " Passenger Air Bag" and set it on the seat. It got crumpled up and thrown at me. Some people have no sense of humor. I thought it was kind of funny. Go figure. Love you videos guys!!
The '39 Chevy appears to have problems with the transmission settings. It sounds as though it's surging because it's hunting for suitable gear.
Mr. Osborne's new to me, but he seems to be a contemporary version of L.J.K. Setwright; a class act.
Excellent episode as usual, I am a Rhode Islander who lives on the water, and yeah..the maintenance never ends but it's worth it to live here. I've been stuarding my 70 Camaro for 33yrs now.
Donald’s swim suit has a tie!
Osborne's salmon looked like the life was cooked out of it, Jay's pizza looked good.
The weirdest part for me was, wait a minute, I've been there. I shattered my ankle there in 2001.
the little woody looks like it could hold 23-24 clowns :)
So many of those homes look familiar to me..I was stationed at Newport from 1970-1974 where my ship was..moved my family there in Middletown right along the beach..not the same today...back then the Navy was the biggest business there..went back in 1995 and was changed..all as I like to say "fafa" people and shops..shame
This was a good one
I agree 👍! These two guys make the coolest odd couple that know a lot about cars and history. Love the odd couple presentation. Both are phenomenal guys here. Thanks for sharing!!!
BP
Love that opening to the video, and the snake head horn! Great laid back feel to this that hit on multiple topics. Felt like a real conversation they would have had even without the cameras going.
Absolutely love the program!! Donald and Jay, thank you both for sharing your personal thoughts, and incredible knowledge! Just wonderful as always fellas!
Jay I'm loving the chemistry between you and Donald Osborne. You guys are great together.
I completely identify with what you said about the resto mods, the tilt steering wheel and digital gauges, etc. But you have to look inside to see the steering wheel. My pet peeve is the outside on some of these resto mods; the big rims and the skinny tires? Really?? What next, spinners on DeSoto?
I love the "Garage". Keep up the great videos.
One last thing. You may be familiar with these guys in Alberta, Canada Eh; Scott Newstead and "Cold War Motors" on RUclips. Scott and his pals are saving old cars from the crusher; this is God's work. They started the "will it run" thing.
Cold War Motors is great because their budget is practically zero. Scott buys cars for the scrap value. He gets them rolling, many times makes them run! Next to Leno's Garage, Cold War Motors has the best car videos on the internet, IMO. These are real car guys...
Scott is presently rebuilding a car from the frame up, a rusty 1960 Plymouth Fury with the wings and a mile of trim; too cool. He is a body man with real talent. Scott spliced two rusty cars together to save an icon of the winged cars era, the late 50's early 60s. He does this work on a very limited budget.
You are likely familiar with CWM. You ought to have Scott and his Plymouth on the "Garage". It's good energy from the Great White North! Boost CWM too. Just an idea.
Leno eats pizza like an escaped convict. Donald is the Felix Unger of this Odd Couple. Great fun to watch and Oh So veddy interesting.......
Jay and Don make a great team. I wouldn't want to take that Fiat up to sixty though, with that rear passenger side axel or wheel weeble wobbling.
Studabaker also had a model called "President"
Thanks, I just relocated from WARSAW Indiana, to HELema Valley,MT.. STUDEBAKERS SPECIAL SPOT! Actually a few studies hers( & power Wagons etc,)...
Rambler had the Ambassador.
This car looks so sad and tired in the road shots...lol...I'm dying inside over here...
Poor car is like damn guys are we almost done yet...?
....I'm so tired i just wanna sit somewhere ....i been doing this for oh so long please just leave me peacefully parked in a museum.
I am older than both of your whole family let me rest dear lord let me rest.
9 liter 4cyl! That’s 2.25 liters per cylinder. Each cylinder has the size of most modern 4 cylinder motors 😳😳😳😳
Hats 🧢 off to Mr. j. Leno. And thanks for the Blackman ,articulate input👍🏾🤛🏿👀🙋🏿♂️
😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣oh my God the intro got me joyfully excited to see the video
Jay is one of very few people who call them-self a car guy who can do this type of show. Just knowing how to drive a 1900"s car is a feat in it's self, manual ignition advance , throttle, hand brakes etc.. People now under 40 who can drive a manual can't drive a "3 on the tree" shifter . Yet Jay has such vast knowledge of all cars he can drive anything .
I am genuinely surprised to learn that Jay doesn't ship a Packard to Newport for the summer-whites-and-straw-boater season. He would not actually _have_ to mount a surfboard rack ...
I would never buy a house like that...you would never finish cleaning windows.
Also and maybe just as important, I "got no" money.
Highly enjoyable episode , thanks
I love the Hood/Bonnet ornament on that 1904 Fiat.(Figure riding a Snail as opposed to something like the Spirit of Extacy).
Funny Jay didn't ride the little FIAT Woody!!
I was actually looking forward to hearing what he thought about it!!!
I haven't seen Osborne since Leno's car show I loved that show! Yeah Jay keep on doing your thing you always always make me laugh out loud! Love Jay Leno!
Another well done video, gentlemen! All three of those cars have such style. They are all splendid choices of their respective eras. I'm so pleased that they have been preserved and equally pleased that you have featured them in this episode. Thanks to you both!
Hi, One of the reasons fiat an Renault had the radiator at the rear of the engine was 1) you had a free hand on styling of the grill area, But 2) was it was easy to heat the passenger cab and monitor radiator temperature.
We get extremely cold winters hear in Europe..... And trust me a cab that heats up fast and is nice n toasty is a big selling point....It was great for window defrost too. But not so good in hot summers, but it was quite common for us European's to use 2 wheels in the summer, Vespa or Triumph.
Great show, Thanks
Mr Osbourne, you make Jay seem a little shabby and provincial. I don’t think he really appreciates Newport.
I laugh out loud every time I see Jay flip that pizza box lid open and crush the flower. And the look on Donald’s face haha.
The Woody doesn't have a headliner..it's very much a beautiful thing instead...wood use at it's best.
Being on the West coast and never been to the East coast I hand to Find Jay's new neck of the woods with Google Earth. Found his mansion and scouted his new neighbors. Very green. Looks like a great place to live.
Each piston of that Fiat's motor has TWICE the displacement of the entire motor in my Geo Metro. ........
And then they show a Fiat with a smaller motor than my car has.
Great show! I like the 2 different views and personalities. Newport is a great place for old cars, they fit right in! I'm glad to call it my home a d I am looking forward to more Concours and Cars & Coffee! 👍
I'd like to know which coach builder made the wood body for the Chevy. And where does Donald Osborn shop? He needs to tell Leno.
When Osbourne and Leno are at the table eating in the intro and Oz just looks at the camera dead on and sighs heavily. Now that guy needs to be an actor. It's perfect. I laugh every time. What a great hook. They absolutely worked that out.
Oh man I hope you two make a lot more of these episodes. Thank you so much
Next episode is on December 27th!
Those headlights on that gorgeous Fiat look like a sleepy basset hound.
Polishing that brightwork looks like an all day job. But what a beauty.
Pisses me off to watch people with so much money I can't barely pay my bills everyone that is a total scumbag seems to always get things their way good people finish last and good people finish first last if you was to watch my life like a movie that's the conclusion you will come up with every time I get on the subway and when people come by asking for a dollar I give I don't talk ill about my fellow man if I have money and someone wants to borrow I gave and I never get it back you would think someone so nice wouldn't have a hard time raise my son was a great father never put my hands on him compared to my father he will have no reason to be bad to me but now he completely hates me because of my political views life can be so unfair sometimes I keep thinking about the story of Job and that's the reason why I don't get mad at God but I am so sick and tired of living I get tired of people having more than what they need like when they died they think they're going to take it with them really it doesn't belong to him just using it while you're here and when you die it all be sold because they're not going to think about how much you care about automobiles they'll come for the money like vultures and everybody's going to want there cut because people today are so different but maybe I got to count my blessings I'm not in Africa starving and paper and a pencil and I can still do my art and I have a garbage pan that I can pick from and I know I will never starve in America be surprised the food I find in the garbage but I would love to go to his garbage I could imagine you must eat real good me I'm going to appreciate what I do have and I would never cursed God because there's always someone worse than me but me Living in America the richest country in the world and every now and then I find something that I can sell I make a few bucks and I go to my friends and he lets me show what I do miss sister Public Library I used to use the computer there but the corona situation all I want is to sell a couple of paintings I'm not asking for nothing I just want to sell a painting
Big verses little car if you like volkswagens my friend Richard Hausmann has a collection. That will blow your mind on my Facebook
The odd couple of car guys , this is the best . Donald Osborne is the guy, Leno is , Leno. HaHa !
