- Greetings everyone! In this video, I take you through the gear I am using for the Mr. Big US tour around the States. The video was shot on stage at The Plaza Live in Orlando, Florida with my drum tech Nate Wlazelek behind the camera.
I am very pleased to be able to bring my own gear on this tour. Many times when you travel to play music you have to use backline gear (meaning rented gear) and even though the specs may be the same as what you normally play, it is not your own gear that you have curated and gotten used to. On the Mr Big US run of shows I get to use my very own drums and cymbals and it is fantastic! My tools of the trade are doing the job and then some night after night. All of the gear is very high quality, from amazing companies, and I encourage you to check all of it out. Especially if you are looking to add to your setup.
My drums are DW Collectors Maple/Mahogany
My drum hardware and pedals are from DW
My cymbals are Sabian
My drumheads are Evans
My drumsticks are Promark NDV signature
Percussion from LP
My drum throne is from Porter & Davies
My vocal mic is from Telefunken
My drum dampeners are from Snareweight
Drum rug from Drum N Base

Hi Nick! I was at the Nashville Ryman show a couple of nights ago, and I can confirm--you sounded A-MA-ZING on those drums! The whole band seemed to be having such a great time playing together. A great vibe and energy was radiating from that stage! I really hope and pray there might be more touring after the new record is released! 🤞🙏

As a longtime Sabian and Evans player, it's awesome to see you're choosing these for your recent touring setups!! I'll have to get one of the 18" AA Raw Bell crashes, the Stratus stack and the Zen China in the future. That DW kit is magnificent, and I've also started using your signature Promark sticks. Awesome setup!!

Hey Nick I have a question. If you were to buy a micro kit from sweetwater, which one would you get? I'm looking at the sonor bop 18" kit for gigging in small venues. We play mostly 70s 80 some 90s rock and country. Love you stuff man! I value your opinion very much. Thank you so much!

You can’t go wrong with Sonor gear. Is it the AQ2 you’re looking at? Those are fantastic. There are others for sure. Gretsch makes very nice small drums. Happy shopping!!!

why in USA you use one tom less?
I am really more comfortable that way. Sometimes it is fun to have the 2nd rack tom but I think I like the single rack tom best.

Do those dampers fit a s-hoop rim?
I’ve never tried but I bet they would. They hold on tight and work well on die cast hoops so I bet they would be good on S hoops as well. Give em a try!

Felt beaters on pedals? Not so punchy for double bass parts.
He's not really a metal drummer. Gives you a nice feather. Let's you play with more dynamic.
Now, did that shell pack come with a match and snare you had to buy that separately😂
