10:45 - that can is Tamiya Gloss Clear TS-13, not flat clear. Sorry for the slip up. 😑
Also after watching this I realise I sound a bit more down than usual, I just recently found out my job is ending in a couple of months so that probably affected me more than I realised. Hopefully I'll have better news next time!
I know how that goes. I'm seriously thinking of making a job change and moving to some other city. I love the area I live in currently (I live in California's wine country), But I'm not happy with my job and it's gotten very expensive to live here. I'm hoping I can find a job making the same as I do here, but with a cheaper cost of living.
Anyway, for as large as this kit is, it sure has lots of very small parts! I'm enjoying watching the build!
Cheers! Yeah I know that feeling, hope you find something better!
I hope all goes well to your advantage. Getting laid off is tge scariest thing imaginable. I currently work at a resraurant and I fear our days are numbered here with less and lesd people coming in daily. Hope you find a great job, best of wishes
ModelChili Scale Models Stay frosty fella, something will appear on the horizon 👍I'm hoping this project gets you some more commission work and tamiya etc. sponsorship
Norwindian Thanks, I really appreciate feedback like that! Lets me know I'm on the right track. :) And yeah would be nice to do this full time, maybe some day!
I’ve just started my own Millennium Falcon Bandai kit. Found your channel. Love the videos. Definitely worth a subscribe. Thanks for the inspiration and build through. I know it’s an old build now but still inspiring.
I just discovered your channel and can't stop watching. Thanks for sharing your talent with us
Thanks for watching. :)
Perfect base colour! I'll defo use this and give you due credit . Thanks for sharing sir!
Cheers mate!
Been waiting for the next installment of this set! There is something cathartic about the SNAP sound in your videos
Thanks :)
Great video, thanks
Loved the cat cameo! Enjoying all these videos. Thanks!
Cheers!
Im thankfull for Your video and the time You spend to show us how it can be done. Building the PG myselves - and will follow You here and on Instagram as well.
Cheers! I'm thankful for all my viewers too. 😁
Loving the build. I’d love to get this model and build it.
Thanks!
Love it!!
Cheers!
I need to say when I first saw the cost of this kit I was put off. But as I watched your videos I have come to see that it may be well worth the price. Wonderful details and If I'm understand right it has the light package included. As any one who have lit a model know lighting a kit can add a good chunk of change to the finished model. As well as the effort needed to figure out how to do the lighting in the first place.
Teh Falcon is coming along well. Bandai makes some very good fitting models. I hope you get the job thing worked out soon. Regards, Solomon
Thanks Solomon. :)
Absolutely amazing. Thank goodness I came across your channel. If I could, I would subscribe infinitely. Great video and great channel. Keep it up!😃
Haha thank you. ^_^
These kits amaze me. The level of detail is awesome. The panel lines are nice, crisp, deep and all the raised detail is perfect as well. Meanwhile I pay all this money on aircraft models and armor models and they can’t make a panel line that is cut properly around the whole aircraft etc.. I have to go over every model I buy rescribing, sanding, or modifying to fit properly. Granted they have gotten a lot better of the years but still not to Bandai quality. Thanks for the great video. May have to get the 1/72 or least the 1/144 falcon now.
They really are a treat, and I know what you mean. When I go back to armour it feels like going back a few decades in terms of mold technology, which is true in some cases!
I'm modeling vicariously through you. I haven't the money or the space to do modeling these days. Some day I'll be able to again, until then.... thank you. It just dawned on me that this is snap together! I don't know if I am amazed or disappointed haha
The engineering on the Bandai kits is incredible. Even though they are snap fit, they look better than other kits that aren't.
Thanks! Yep all the Bandai kits are push/snap together.
And most of them are a joy to build.
For sure. :)
I wish they did a interior for this kit, the detail would have been amazing.
Yay new episode! May I request more cat cameos? :D
You certainly may!
the satisfying click
I'm not sure which car/truck transmission that was but it's amazing that it survived to be installed on the Millennium Falcon. Great video, thanks for the video series. Cheers.
Yeah it's cool to see stuff like that. Thanks for watching!
Every part of my model building senses is screaming "Where's the the glue!?" XD I know these kits are designed with snap fit in mind but it must be so hard to resist just dabbing some on in places.
I only use it where a part is loose or feels fragile. It's actually quite liberating not having to use glue, when I go back to traditional kits it feels like a step backwards lol.
All those thin styrene rods would worry me if I were putting it together, since I have a habit of losing or breaking small, flimsy parts but I have to say that they make a world of difference when it comes to the overall appearance; a lot of previous kits from other companies simply had them molded on as a solid piece of the hull, so instead of rods/pipes they just wound up looking more like ridges with slightly rounded tops. There's so much impressive detail that I'm *really* looking forward to seeing it all assembled and weathered.
Thanks :)
Good work mate, more videos of the cat please
Thanks! Ha I'll try.
Just started watching you build this. WOW that is some nice details. Great work and tips!
(I’m going to have to get one of these ASAP)
Question.
What air brush are you using? I need something better suited to larger surfaces like this. I only recently got an airbrush setup, and the brush I got with it (a neo) is just not right for larger things because you end up with overspray messing up your surfaces. At least that’s what it seems like to me... (this one seems to be meant for very fine details)
Thank you! I'll be doing a video on my setup and tools soon. :)
did you prime anything as you didn't mention you did
I have a question. I was spraying the sections of a tie fighter that contain the solar panel (using tamiya TS line spray can) in sub par lighting conditions and sprayed so much that I lost some of those fine details. Is there a way to fix this or have I just stuffed up a model? Arrgg
Yeah that can be a tricky one. Tamiya spray paints are pretty rock solid once they're on. But if you found a way that's awesome! I usually end up sanding it back with a fine grit, but that might've been a bit destructive for the TIE panels. And remember, always spray in thin layers! ;)
Luckily the paint hadn't set. Layers, yes. Got to excited... ;)
I can't stop watching your creations.... Fabulous, hypnotic...
I'm just starting out in modelism, my falcon is waiting for my courage in his box. I train following your advice on Easy kits....
I have two questions among others: I don't understand the use of white grey and white aged at 10:06... you make a mix of them? Do you use the Tamiya primer spray? If so, fine grey or grey (L) ?
thank you in advance
Thanks! Yes the base colour coat was a mix of 10 parts White Grey to 1 part Aged White. I use Tamiya Surface Primer Grey - sometimes Fine, sometimes just normal, I don't usually notice much difference.
Thank you for your quick response
Jesus Christ! I'm amazed you didn't have to snap the eyes on the little figures too.
I thought those recessed maintenance bays were supposed to be light grey. At least that’s what they recommend on the Deagostini model.
Hard to tell on the studio model since they're so filthy. There's definitely some sections the same colour as the hull.
That car undercarriage is from a 1957 Chevy Bel Air.
I use lacquers exclusively. I think that the toxicity and fire hazard are acceptable trade-offs for the insanely fast dry times.
Sorry to hear about your job.
Ah cool, thanks. 😁
I saw two panther mantlets, an engine oil pan, a german tank radiaotor fan and the rear deck of a matilda tank lol
Ah yes the Matilda deck is unmistakable.
Is that why you call yourself ModelChili? 'cus you grow Chilis?
Bingo!
What are the quality of these snap together models? It doesn't feel right for me not to use glue, this looks like a huge Kinder Surprise toy. It the pieces fit super snug, I guess I can live with it, but it seems "cheap" to do it that way, in other words, might as well go with Lego again, lol.
They're the highest quality model kits I've ever seen. Similar to something like Meng or Tamiya but much sharper detail and no flash anywhere.
ModelChili Scale Models Cool, good to know because yes, that detail is amazing
