Who else agrees with me that Rich should have his own signature PRS guitar?

a hero of mine! I'll never forget having front row for Yes/Kansas in 2000 and yelling at Rich at stage left. He looked over, gave a big smile and waved! Kansas blew us away that night as they always do te umpteen times i've seen them. You Rule Rich!

Fantastic! Besides Steve it’s RICH that has and always will define the core sound of Kansas; he adds that “thing” that there are no words for. It’s a gift from God that Rich so eloquently and consistently displays. Thanks for posting; I really enjoyed it!

Rich Williams, is the single deadliest rhythm guitar player in the world. Check out the syncopated patterns, he comes up with, for all those great Kansas albums. His soloing. Is chock full of soul. Rich is also the king of the whistler note. I learned all about the ultra harmonic, from his mighty wall of meat position in the greatest band ever. Kansas. My favorite guitarist, and the nicest man, to have on your team. Rich Williams.

Rich is a great guitarist. The more I hear him, the more I am impressed.
Hearing his guitar work out front, as this video illustrates, makes me respect his playing even more.
He is a pro's pro. A great musical mind.

That is a very interesting video.....
Never forget the night his rack glitched .... The whole Kansas sound was gone for about a minute ....
He went behind his rack touched a wire and boom... He was off and running again...
Great video you have made here!
    Dave .

This is amazing Brian! I don't know how I've missed this for so long! Really cool to get the Meatwall perspective, almost an iso of the guitar! Really highlights his precision and crispness of playing. Kind of cool to hear exactly what he's playing without it being lost in the overall sound!

What a huge wall of sound Rich Williams creates! I love this focus on his guitar sound, thanks Brian Boyce for this awesome video! One of the greatest living guitarists, for sure

Saw him with original lineup for the Audio-Visions tour. Had I waited one tour to see them would have missed that original lineup from their first album. Saw the Vinyl Confessions tour after that also and this lineup many years later. Rich and Phil are the only original members left.

I remember seeing them out in long island New york about 10 years ago and Rich's rack failed. It ended up being his wire to his guitar and when he stopped playing all of this thick kansas sound just left.
That night I saw and heard how much this man's sound is so important to Kansas.
Plus he is such a super nice guy.
    Great video Brian !

I saw them at a concert in new york years ago and Riches rack just shut down... The whole bottom of the music just dropped out .... He walked behind it did something and boom he was back and running..
He is a big key to the Kansas sound.

Yngvie? No. Eddie? No. Vai? No. RW doesn't have to be any of them. He is his own man and musician, elemental, yet monumental. Those who take the time to listen know what he has masterfully created as a signature style and sound. No matter who has come and gone from Kansas, the foundation remains solid and strong. Rich's endurance speaks for itself. Replace him? With who? He has carved a niche un-fillable by anyone else.

That guitar sound is as enduring, iconic and instantly recognizable as Brian May. I can't think of anyone else for whom that can be said. It looks like he's playing PRS now but I'm not sure. Didn't he play a Les Paul in the 70's? If anyone reading this knows, please respond. Thx in advance!

Some other instantly-recognizable guitar tones for you to check out that immediately come to mind: Robert Fripp, Richard Thompson, Bill Frisell, Allan Holdsworth, Steve Howe.
