I met Rich in a bar in Wichita after a day show. Rich talked with my friend and me for about 30 minutes. He is cool and answered all of our Kansas questions.

If Rich wrote a book, I guarantee it would be one of the most hilarious memoirs ever!

Hoping you have the man that wrote the hits of this great band on soon. Kerry Livgren!

Just catching this, Rich should write a book. The stories here were great appetizers.

Great video. I love when you interview someone & get their unfiltered take on ex band members. Have been a huge Kansas fan since the beginning. Well I should say the original band. Seen them a couple times just a beast live.

Rich played in a band called Plain Jane from the KC area, pre Kansas days. I saw PJ many many times after his time.

You should ask Rich about opening for The Doors at The Warehouse in New Orleans. it was Jim Morrison's final appearance and it was the night he showed up late, drunk, and out of control. He took the mic stand and drove a hole in the wooden stage floor. The Doors ended the show early, Jim went back to his hotel room on St Charles Av and went back home the next day.

John Densmore wrote that he saw Jim's spirit leave his body during that show " And I knew he was finished" he recounted.Jim was dead six months later. Very sad story. Thanks for pointing out Kansas' involvement in that night.

I think Kansas has done something special for years. With new players in the band, they aren't just playing songs from 40 years ago. They are putting out new music that their new members can call theirs and not someone else's music. Their last 2 albums are very good! But i miss Steve Walsh.

If there is a friendlier band than Kansas, I have never heard of them. The only one of them I could say may have been a jerk was Steve Walsh, but the rest of the guys are so "Topeka Nice"! Nice to their fans, nice to fellow bands they perform with, and nice to their road crew. And bands from Queen to Def Leppard return the favor (I would say the only exception may have been Steve Tyler once in 1975, but he didn't know them very well)

Walsh - moody ? , yeah I could believe that.

Yeah, lol Moody is an understatement, some of his comments on Queen weren't so nice at all considering Queen praised Kansas as being above and beyond talented.
