I'm actually kinda surprised you've never been backpacking before this, it's totally up your alley! You guys are so much fun to watch, always appreciate the humor 😅❤ Happy 6 yr anniversary!!
Loved the video. You guys i will definitely keep an eye for your content. Be careful yall will end up getting the wanderlust. Best luck and safe trails ahead
Just fyi the permethrin you treated your clothes with at the beginning of the vid is meant to be sprayed on clothing and hung to dry completely before wearing. That type of insect repellent is not meant to make contact with your skin. It will also last a couple washes before you have to reapply.
You are tough! My family would fall over if we tried backpacking. I think the one Mark has can hold Rosalie 😂. I need Mark also for my Zombie Apocalypse team. Your camping meals are way better than my Boy Scout days. Happy Anniversary! You need an amazon link with your back packing review.
Thanks so much!! Mark has always been pretty tough… I’m trying to “toughin’ up” lol 😆 because I really do love being outdoors! Camping is fun, but I love the backcountry where you’re not surrounded with other campers.
I have been backpacking since I was a small child with my Dad. Now that my kids are old enough I get to share the same experience. Always make the trip fun so you can actually enjoy it.
Cool! 👍🏼 I’ve been backing now for years here in the Eastern Sierra Mountains to the Utah desert and Grand Canyon! Keep doing what you’re doing! Love the video!
Loved the video, we haven't been able to get up that way, but want to! Some other trails would be the Wilderness Trail at Meramec state park, the Big Piney Trail in the patty creek Wilderness and the Kaintuck Hollow, they have multiple trails that all lead into a big circle of trails and every trail is different!!! Happy Hiking!!!
The weird "dancy" thing with the light is because you were using an LED headlamp, which actually flickers really fast, faster than the eye notices, and it doesn't match the frame rate of the camera. Great video!
Oh that makes sense! I guess playing with frame rate on the camera settings might help with that… I’ll have to play around with that next time. Thanks so much.
I like the Peak Refuel Biscuits & Gravy. But it needs some black pepper and maybe a bit of salt. The Sawyer Squeeze is my favorite water filter. If you roll the bag, like a tube of toothpaste, the water will come out faster. I'm not a fan of the bags Sawyer ships though. I usually replace them with a bag from CNOC Outdoors or Evernew. The CNOC bags are MUCH easier to fill if you have to get water from a lake or pond because it has the big opening on the back end.
I’ve heard that about the CNOC bags vs. the bags Sawyer comes with. We knew this trail had little “waterfall” options along the creek for a water source so the Sawyer bags would work fine for those, but have heard it’s difficult to fill those in water that doesn’t have gravity being applied to it… thanks for the recommendation! Definitely have a few places we already want to upgrade for this year’s trips.

I really enjoyed it, so I do think we’ll be doing this more! Thanks so much!!
I love this so much. "Not sponsored just stupid" LOL.. that Mark side eye.
Lol 😂 we just try to keep it normal around here.

Thanks so much for watching! The urge to disappear into nature sounds more and more appealing all the time. 🌿🥾 take care!
You guys are so adventurous! I love watching these videos :)
Thanks, Katie!! I definitely want to do this again in 2025.

Thank you! That was Mark’s research 🧐 lol I’ll let him know for next time.
Yeah this whole video is a gumby factory but you'll eventually learn lol
Hawn's a great place for a first backpacking trip! You guys did great! Loved the video.

I miss the days of my youth of hiking in the swamps of Georgia and the mountains of Alaska.
That sounds amazing. 💕🥾 We’re getting a late start at this in our 40s, but plan to keep going as long as our bodies will let us!
Backpack First time made a good youtube video
From Michigan. Love backpacking but deep in snow just now.
I love hiking in the snow with the right gear though! ❄️🥾 I bet it’s beautiful in Michigan.
Did you just spray Sawyer Permethrin on your pants while wearing them???
Yes… 🫠 and we got that feedback in another comment so we know what to do next time! 😆
