- Had a blast with the Norcal OTH cycling club in the Bay Area at Skeggs point aka El Corte De Madera Creek Preserve near San Mateo, CA.
Video shot using:

*Water displacement erosion control mounds. If you call them jumps the MidPen rangers will surely have them removed. lol.
LOL. So true!
It'll be my first time riding it today; taking the same loop. Oh and Harold's a beeeeeeast for passin you like that. lol
Savant, definitely Methuselah was the best trail of the video, really fun to watch man...thanks for sharing!
My favorite trail indeed. Just wish it was a longer!
great trails, great vid, just shows, your never too old and you don't need the best bike to enjoy this kind of stuff. :-)
A wise man once said "you only need a bike to be a biker"
@MTB Savant
Other than Methusaleh DH, is there any other jump spots or drops in skeggs point? You don't have to tell me the names, I'm just curious if there are any secret spots for jumps in Skeggs
New to the scene and never ridden Skeggs. Do you have a strava link for this ride or route guide? thanks!
Where do I sign up?
That place looks rad. All have to come ride it some time.
It's definitely a fun place to ride.
My stomping grounds and all my favorite trails. How did the single speed guy do on the climb out? What’s the requirements for the OTH club? 😉
Harold is a beast. You just need to be stoked to ride! Just send a request to join here - facebook.com/groups/964296626914550/
Nice trail..What’s the best time to ride there?
Great video as always, another trail added to the list of must do.
For the back facing camera, is it just helmet mount?
Effie Lever yup helmet mounted GoPro hero 6. Glad you enjoyed the video!
MTB Savant I thought it's the 6, looked more stable than I expected from helmet cam
Good times - would love to join you guys next time!
For sure dude!
ping me at: andreu@ax3studio.com
Just the oddest group of riders lol! Which makes for a fun day out in the woods
Yup, very much enjoyed the diversity of the group
I'm super jealous of your extended riding season. We're dealing with freeze/thaw conditions here in Chicago these days. :(
Yeah we're incredibly fortunate!
This is one of the main reasons I moved to the Bay Area 7 years ago. Waterfall Glen just wasn’t cutting it as “mountain biking” 😉
Can you give a link where we can learn more about the OTH cycling club please?

That fall came as a surprise. Happens so easily when the trail is wet.
Indeed!
Terrain and riding there is great! The only negative is that it's downhill first and climb out of the ditch latter type of ride. I do prefer first to earn my descent rather that pay for it later.
Well, you can't have everything...
Yeah the extended climbs do hurt!
Hey man you think a 120mm travel xc bike can survive Skeggs particularly Manzanita? I did it today on an Ibis Ripmo AF no problem except for some steep climbs (probably just me tho bc I was gassed)
Yes no problem
MTB Savant what’s your go to route at Skeggs. I did way too much climbing today than I wanted bc I didn’t really plan well. Am hoping to have a better experience next time. I was climbing trails like Methuselah, north leaf, etc
Is the OTH club still active? I looked online and it didn't seem like it.
Yes they're active for sure
Trail looked like it would be a blast! I could fit in well with the OTH crew, lol. Had my first taste of DH trail riding this past weekend in Pisgah. Could have used your useless eagle cassette on the climbs and a lot more experience on the descents. haha
Hahah. Getting smoked by a single speeder was certainly enlightening.
Yeah, i was riding with a guy who rides single speeds, even though he was rocking an eagle cassette this weekend, his chain was in the middle of his cassette while i'm mashing my shift lever praying for another gear to appear. The super low cadence was smoking my quads! haha
Savant, thanks for the shout-out to NorCal OTH crew on your video. I’m one of 4 OG founders and I actually enjoyed watching this video- it’s actually entertaining. you mentioned Harold and Lousay.BTW, we met Harold at Downieville on the shuttle and I though he was crazy riding his single speed so I encouraged him to ride with us for safety Dude is a beast and more. Who was your POC with OTH?.
Right on man. POC was my buddy Ken who's friends with Lozda.
Hi there! Does the NorCal OTH have a way to connect outside of Facebook? Possibly a Google/yahoo group or meetup? I’d like to connect with other local riders. I’m in the Northbay. I came across this video because I plan to check out ECdM this Tuesday; bonus if I make contact w OTH for future rides. Thanks.
hah! i know that bike and this dude !! Silver trek remedy 9. with fox 36 fork. i bought it from him..
Over the hill? What were the ages?..cuz nobody looked OTH to me. Damn, I must be like 90.
LOL, not sure exactly but I'd say the group is mostly in their 40's and 50's? Don't quote me on that.
Manny Fonseca ..no shit eh?😄😄
Some strange bikes! There's no way we'd be up for a fixie on all that distance with no water, but fair play to the lad. Looks like it works for him!
Tell me about it. Beast mode!
Great trail. Looks awesome! Lmao @ Thanks a lot eagle!!!!
Thanks man. Definitey fun.
Good stuff. Just emptied my MTB stuff out of my car.
Bummer, time to ski?
MTB Savant opening day is the Friday after Thanksgiving.
LOL I climb everything you went down
I understand why so many people in CA have dropper posts, but why is it that everyone in Bay Area Mountain Biking group seem to buy bikes w/ 6 inches+ of travel on these trails? This looks like easy work for 4 inches of travel!
We also live in a country where people commute to work in their "off road" vehicles. Go figure.
Look up trails in Pacifica the crack, Mile, XXX, boycott Or UCSC Mailbox, Z's Airborne, Jugs, Sweetness, Loamy just to mention a few.. Also also a lot use their bike for Northstar bike park. Maybe this will answer your question..
Because sometimes its about riding the bike you like, not the best bike for the terrain, crazy right?
oth, over the handlebars
I like that name too
OTH? the oldest guy looks to be around 40.. I ride with guys in the late 50's and 60's..I'm 55 , the guys in their 60's ride 20+ miles like it was nothing..I'm talking east coast chunk..Not that smoooth cali riding..lol
Btw ..Love your channel
Jason I watch some of these videos from the other coast and it is so different from how gnarly the east coast is. Only smooth trails on the east coast are fire roads
I found this out recently. Wholly cow was it gnarly. Gopro effect can NOT be over stated. lol
I'm OTH crew, Luis and Harold, the dude in front of James and single speed dude, is probably the youngest. Most of us are in our 40's.
Nice vid James. We know who is the one that's constantly late. No need to mention his name. Just ask who's late and everyone will tell you one name 😂. He is extremely a nice guy though.
Better late than never!
When do you meet for the next Skeggs outing? I've never been. And I'm 46. I'm definitely over the hill.
Skeggs...it was all fun and games until you have to climb back up to your car...SMH...lol
Gotta pay to play!
40 is the new 13
lol, i keep telling myself that each day
Hi
Hi!
