I have written many album reviews simply on their demo's alone and I find it easier to do so simply because I can really hear each artist play without the later add-ons to many albums that get released and most bands know their demo can either make them or break them (most anyways), so they always put their best into them. No it's chesty, its not impossible, if you listen to studio version of big guns, he did it again, a pure chesty note! It's rare, but it's not impossible...
you take an tape-player connect the output to an audio-input of your computer. then need recording software and configure the input as the recording source. press record on the software, play on the tape recorder and wait until the song is over. done.

His vocal chords are just abducted well, which is a quality of voice training. While I can't sing nearly as awesome as him, I can hit a A5, and while it's kind of hard, certainly possible for the majority of men.
