  • Hello! At the end of last year I made a video about what modules and things to consider if you’re interested in building a modular techno system. Today we go over a patch I like to use on my eurorack system for techno oriented performances. We’ll have a detailed look at the percussive and melodic parts. As well as how I control this setup with the Arturia Beatstep Pro and AtoVproject 16n Rework.
    Timetable:
    00:00 - Intro
    01:32 - Percussion
    07:46 - Melodic Voices
    12:33 - Workflow

    Inspiring stuff- thank you! I’ve just found that running a kick through the Make Noise Mimeophon and a Wasp filter is brilliant for that techno rumble, so with one-third of a techno piece in the bag the tips here are invaluable for building the whole piece.

    Great and intelligent setup. Do you send eurorack levels into the Mackie mixer used in this video, or do you reduce them to line level first?

    • @MonotrailTechTalk
      @MonotrailTechTalk  2 года назад

      Thanks! And straight into the Mackie, but via a VCA or attenuator for safety. Here's a video I did on recording the modular if you're interested! ruclips.net/video/gHLhaEmPtGk/видео.html

  • @DoffThyFace
    @DoffThyFace 3 года назад +1

    When you run your voices into the mixer, are you passing them through anything first to step down from euro level to line level?

    • @MonotrailTechTalk
      @MonotrailTechTalk  3 года назад +1

      Hey! The last step is the Linix VCA. I use the attenuators on that to set the level for the melodic and drum voices, generally going to about half the maximum level before going to the mixer. Cheers!

  • @chatolars
    @chatolars 3 года назад

    Brilliant , just discovering your channel...very interesting setup with the outboard mixer(have a very similar Mackie myself lying somewhere) but does it work well with modular levels or are toy using an antenuattor before hitting the mixer?

    • @MonotrailTechTalk
      @MonotrailTechTalk  3 года назад +1

      Thanks, glad to hear you like it! I mostly use the setup described in the video, with the Intellijel Linix VCA as the last step before the mixer. The VCA works as an attenuator there, so I can adjust the volume a bit to more regular mixer friendly levels :)

    • @MonotrailTechTalk
      @MonotrailTechTalk  3 года назад +1

      Thanks! And I don't. But I'm Dutch, and my YT acount is dutch, it automatically translates Berlin to the Dutch way, Berlijn. I can't change that it seems, and I was hoping it would just show the name of the city in the language the vieuwer would be using his YT. But it doesn't. So it's a bit annoing the way YT works. Might just stop using the location, as more people have mentioned it.

      Hello Keith! Thank you! And quite some people have asked me for this, and as I make all these videos for free, and making downloadable .pdf costs me extra time I decided to meet the requests in the middle ;) Im working on them right now, soon a lot of old, and all upcomming videos will have downloadable .pdf available for $4 patrons. This way I hope to create a more sustainable situation for me to keep making them, and it will be possible for people to donate a minimum of one month and dowload all the pdf files. Hope that's a fair deal! All the best!

    • @MonotrailTechTalk
      @MonotrailTechTalk  3 года назад +1

      For price its great! I think it sounds good and the feedback is fairly easy to control around the higher settings. I have some trouble connencting it to the PC for additional settings, wich is a bit of a bummer, but have to put some more efford in it. Through USB you can set things like wow and flutter you can't set on the pedal itself.
