I was a witness to this! The energy and rawness gave me hope and desire to cross my Bridge! I can still feel it today when I hear their music. Thanks lads!!

@@LeonardReyes88 He he he... In Manila NU107 and BM 105 had this in heavy rotation. In Cebu, this was a staple by the legendary Y101. When my band Rain Eternal played in UP High School Cebu in 93, this was covered by a Cebuano band. I was not sure if it was 40 but i think it was them. 40 sounded so tight playing this song. It was Bisoy who was fronting the band already. The Bridge was so popular because it was part of the much loved Philippine new wave compilation "The Best of New Music 1 to 3". This was on the the 3rd album of the series. Correct me if I am wrong, but I think legendary bands James and Soup Dragons were included in the album.
@@dannymcmince nor am I Irish. Loved Aslan, Something Happens, The Stunning, Cry Before Dawn, The Adventures and more....I know you're now thinking well how the hell did I not know CWN.
@@ThorntonValiant Good on you..some great Irish bands back in the day...I toured with Aslan and Cry Before Dawn when I played with my band Ego Minefield late 80s.

Frank Kearns didnt get to the interview for the U2 job. Think a family member had died that day. He went to Mount Temple on the Malahide Road (same school as U2) and lived down the road from me. I actually have a few 12 inch versions from the band themselves..... great song.
You are now is the strangest and the possible circumstances, I don't understand it but I know that it feels so good...feels good And there's one thing that I do know when I sing this song for you, I cross the bridge to other side...
The 80's saw so many brilliant Irish bands emerge. The problem was that the record companies wanted 'The Next U2',and the bands were dropped if they didn't sound like them.
aaaah and the second album never came out...such a tragedy. They do have an official web site these days and i bought some music a few years ago from it.
this band was real and raw. The way early U2 was. They had that X factor that is so rare. I think who he is talking about is the Alpha and the Omega. Jesus Christ! That even if he does fail, the truth goes on and always will remain.
Bit random : but does anyone know where to find "Going to Nepal" (i think) by Blink (the Irish band). Had it on cassette years ago and impossible to find online cos' of Blink 182.
I am happy to confirm that CACTUS WORLD NEWS have reunited and are special guests of Simple Minds @ INEC - Gleneagle Hotel, Kilarney, Co. Kerry on Saturday 30 July. On-line tickets available @ ticketmaster.co.uk More news soon! Pete
hi bimosec. pinoy din ako and huge CWN fan. we used to play the band's songs during our gigs in club dredd and mayrics sets. our band's name is ampalaya juice. what's your band's name nga pala.great video by the way.

i remember at the time people were saying that aslan should've been signed by U2's label instead of cactus world news, well this song kicks the arse of anything that shitty little pub band did.
I used to sign on on the same day with the specky ponce - said good morning to him and he looked through me. I wondered what they were like - now I know - vile
That album still stands up pretty good all these years later.
Still remember this - in 2024

I want this song for my funeral. Boy, this will definitely a good song to sing when I cross that bridge to paradise...
This was so popular in the Philippines in the late 80s!
West Pac?
Vietnam too actually!

Catus World News ! What Energy ! Brilliant Band ! Super Superb Guitar Playing ! Thank You For Sharing This Fantastic Video Of The Band.
Loved this single back then. Studying for an exam at the time but watched self aid all day.
Ripper band I absolutely loved them. When I tire of the repetition that is music today I listen to Cactus...legend
Thats sad!
Great to see this. They were an amazing band; Eoin was a poet and Frank was such a great guitar player- what a beautiful sound he made!
Amazing to see this again ..from Boston
great band from my youth!!! thank you bro.
great band great song
Can't believe I've only just discovered CWN. I used to listened to loads of Irish bands in the late 80s but these guys passed me by.
What?

Just saw myself and my pal in the crowd we were there off our heads right up the front that day!
Great music, still.

Its nice to see Gunner Graham from It aint half hot mum.

How did that gig go for the guys

If that's true, then your uncle's the shit!
Mix could be better but still great stuff - good to see they can cut it live.

do you a link for an mp3 of this, ive looking for this song for a long time now.
I have a copy
Who was the bass player? I think they had a few!
Kind of sounds like the alarm
Saw them as support act Manchester Apollo I think they were supporting the cult back in the eighties 🎸
The bridge. Worlds apart and years later were better songs than anything u2 ever made

Hope your not gonna die soon dude but a good choice
The singer looks like a priest, should of had guitarist on vocals!
The singer sounds like Robert Smith
i remember 'em too. a crap wannabe stadium rock band without the stadium. another terrible u2 clone on the terrible u2 clone production line.
