- This video is about how to install PostgreSQL database, doing the initial setup of the PostgreSQL
and then also explains how to uninstall PostgreSQL database on macOS Big Sur.
This video also covers how to install pgAdmin and how to uninstall pgAdmin from macOS Big Sur.
In this video, I cover PostgreSQL installation using the Interactive installer by EDB and also by Postgres.app
Also cover the uninstallation of PostgreSQL database using both the Interactive installer by EDB and also by Postgres.app
We go step by step from scratch to complete installation, setup and uninstallation of PostgreSQL.
We also create a sample database and table using pgAdmin and then insert data to this table in pgAdmin.
We look at the error's caused in Postgres 13.1 version when trying to install through the Interactive installer by EDB method.
This video covers the following:
1) Install PostgreSQL using the Interactive installer by EDB method.
2) Setup pgAdmin which is installed as part of the EDB installer.
3) Create sample database and table to test pgAdmin.
4) Uninstall PostgreSQL using the uninstaller package provided by the EDB installer.

7) Install pgAdmin.

I am trying to uninstall my postgresql but I think while moving the folder, I lost the postgresql uninstaller. Now when I trying to delete the bin and data directories, its given me an error that these files are in use in some program.
Kindly help me to uninstall it completely.
So apparently the error has something to do with te processor of the mac, if you open the finder and search for the app, in the option Get Info you just activate the "run with rosetta", it will eliminate the error opening PgAdmin.
its not working
After installing and opening I cannot see any database when I click on the server. How to fix it?
This video just gave me real peace since my mac kept failing to open PostgreSQL after upgrading to Big Sur. I finally open it and it works fine.

I just started learning SQL Today ( from a non tech finance background ). Started with your SQL Playlist. This is the second video. Having too much difficulty understanding . All the commands etc , only someone who already knows SQL can understand. What command,how did you arrive at . No explanation of the whole PGADMIN app. Straight deepdive into complex SQL Commands which went above my head. Too hard to understand. Is there extended version of SQL basic explanation video ?

Followed the process to uninstall but can still see the user: PostgreSQL at the login. So it's not a complete uninstallation. I deleted it by going to Mac Settings>users. Not sure if this is enough.

Yes generally any database uninstallation involves some steps to delete files manually.. I believe I covered all of these steps in the video..
You can also refer to the uninstallation instruction given by PostgreSQL (link in description)

FIND IT 😅 : I created the postgres Superuser : CREATE USER postgres SUPERUSER; then : CREATE DATABASE postgres WITH OWNER postgres; With command \du you can see all users. I quit my terminal and come back with : psql -U postgres VOILA 🥳

When i try to run its showing “stay or leave on the page” . Not able to execute my query. Please answer this ASAP.

I believe you want your pg admin layout to be as it was in the beginning right?
If so go to File -> Reset Layout
This should do it..
Also after the reset you can click File -> Lock layout -> prevent Docking to avoid such issues in future..

I am on Apple Silicon M1 and I get the following error.
A non-fatal error occur whilst creating menu shortcuts.
problem running post-install step. installation may not complete correctly the database cluster.
I tried installing different versions of Postgre but getting the same error.

Which type of installation have you chosen?
Is it the interactive installer by EDB or Postgres.app or Homebrew?
I think EDB might give some issues sometime for some version and generally the Postgres.app sure work fine.
Can you try Postgres.app
@@techTFQ I tried EDB first, it failed. Then I tried postgres.app, it succeded. But after installing pgadmin 4, the server doesn't show up
Have you initialized the server as mentioned in the website?
@@techTFQ yes, as you showed on the video. Server was initialized correctly. I can see 3 server names including postgres
Ok, I had faced something like this long back and I remember I just uninstalled Postgres and PgAdmin and then re installed it again and it worked fine..

I think the error is due to incorrect password.. password should be the same which you entered during installation..

I think you installed using the EDB method but I’ve seen some issue in it faced by some other people as well so can you uninstall this and then try to re-install using the Postgres.app method .. I think this will work

Sir why enter current date in value insertion?
It's an oversight on his part. If you want to insert a real date, use this format: 'YYYY-MM-DD' insread of current_date.
