    I don’t care what the operator thinks, this dad did great! He was understandably scared, but he still managed to help his wife deliver the baby safely.

    The operator said she’s never had children and it clearly shows. I think if she did, she wouldn’t have been so judgy. Even ignoring that, it’s understandable that people would panic and even freak out over seemingly insignificant things in the midst of a crisis. She’s an operator, she should know how to handle panicking callers better.

    "She's going to tear herself, she has not had an episiotomy..." If she did tear, she was better of than if she'd had the routine episiotomy that was part of 80s and 90s births. I was born then. I didn't weigh more than five pounds and they KNEW I'd be small, still they cut my mother because it's easier for them to repair than a possible tear.

    • @red4643
      @red4643 6 лет назад +1

      Mc Hobbit I had an episiotomy in 2015 and it saved me from having a much worse tear. I healed within two weeks where the cut was but the little bit of tearing that did occur took almost the full six weeks to heal. They can be a great thing. And yes my daughter was a bigger baby.

    • @arlapieper7
      @arlapieper7 5 лет назад +1

      Episiotomies are horrible, involuntary surgery they forced on women and probably led to my bladder prolapse after four babies/four episiotomies.....not necessary....

    • @marikiemarie7622
      @marikiemarie7622 4 года назад +1

      @@arlapieper7 omg!! That's not true at all. Bladder had nothing to do with the outer rim of the vagina!!!! A tear is almost un repairable ...a small snip is stichable !!! And it dont matter how big or small the baby is. Sometimes its not necessary for a big baby. My second son was 10lbs at birth..no cut. My 3rd son was only 6lbs..had to be cut... not even with my first son and he was almost 9lbs. And they are most definitely neccessary if the woman needs it... how many years of OBGYN did you take lady???

      Maybe they couldn't afford more than one or thought they'd never need it. If you didn't talk on the phone alot it made sense in the 1980s. I was a teenager in the 1980s and lots of people only had a single phone in the kitchen or living room. Lots of people only had one tv set and one car in those days as well

  • @Bethelhorses
    @Bethelhorses 8 лет назад +12

    Why the hell do you sit on the toilet to have a baby.... when you've had two others you should damn well know where to be and what to do.

    • @laurenarmstrong6349
      @laurenarmstrong6349 7 лет назад +2

      Bethel Mini Horses I agree, even if you can't get to a hospital get to a freaking bed

    • @marcusflor-vickers
      @marcusflor-vickers 7 лет назад +2

      Bethel Mini Horses But the others mite be born in a hospital

    • @mchobbit2951
      @mchobbit2951 6 лет назад +4

      Even if they were born at the hospital, you'd know that if the baby emerges while you're on the toilet, the baby will fall in the toilet. You don't have to have a baby to know that. However, a bed isn't that great to give birth on. We are just forced to in hospitals because it's easy for them. Besides that, this is not a hospital bed or a bed prepared for homebirth. Give birth on your regular bedding and mattress and you can throw everything out. The tub or bathroom floor would have been a good place to do this.

      Didn't want to stain anything

    • @avalasialove
      @avalasialove 5 месяцев назад

      Because sitting up can be a more comfortable labor position for some mothers. The semi-sitting position commonly seen in hospitals is encouraged more out of convenience for the healthcare providers than the mother’s wellbeing and comfort. Instead of moving her, the operator could’ve told the dad to put the lid down and have his wife sit on top of the lid.

    Dear Dispatcher, not all daddies have delivered babies. Another thing...people have had babies long before dispatchers answered phones. Be a pro, settle down, and be a little less condescending. He's not medical.

    He didn’t have a phone in the bedroom?

    • @scottw6704
      @scottw6704 9 месяцев назад

      You could not mute landline phones, and they were designed to ring so loudly that you could hear them all the way across the house. It was common to keep the phone in the highest-traffic area in the house, far away from places you wanted peace and quiet (the bedrooms) Imagine having that sound right by your head in the middle of the night!

      Of course not, but he did not say, I know exactly what childbirth feels like. He said, I came as close as a man can get. And if you had never witnessed or been involved in childbirth before, that experience would be very scary and nerve-racking whether you are a man or a woman.
