finally someone has the decency to put us out of our misery in trying to guess what is going on with these parts by including an overhead shot throughout the cover attempt. excellent execution and sound, thanks for sharing. larry simply doesn't get enough credit for his taste and ability to contribute unique parts while maintaining palatable pop/rock sensibilities. he was 22 yrs old when he wrote this drum part. he was 21 when he recorded the sunday bloody sunday part. i'm pretty sure he was only 19 when he came up with the drums for gloria. nuts. he even manages to subtley throw something like 'one' for an interesting loop while lulling most listeners into thinking it is a straight fwd conventional 4/4 pattern. his accents on the chorus of 'beautiful day', to this moment, has been repeatedly cannibalized by every tom, dick, kings of leon and killers. larry will never be confused for bonham or ginger baker, but he has been a special rock drummer.
wow ! What a great and constructive comment ! I have same opinion than you, Larry is a great drummer, but very underated ... He is not very technic, but he has a sense of feeling and making unique drum part very exceptionnal ... Till the 90's area of U2, you can recognize his drumplay easely cause each song were unique.... He also has the way of using each element of a drum as no one did before.. He was one of the first who use a left floor tom (as in pride, for example..) If you love him, I also have another channel where I only play U2 songs, and where you can also find song with only drum parts : ruclips.net/channel/UCZQX_kfQW14GhwTPo9XusMQ
I think it's a solid attempt apart from that, those snare accents leading into the chorus are the all important part, it's one of the great snare rolls in rock n roll, otherwise it just sounds like a straight roll, the musicality is in those accents, still a good cover though.

Those snare 16ths right before the choruses need some accents, on something like: 1, & of 2, and, & of 3 [ >1&&

Good shit man! The floor tom hit sounds great and like the original
Thanks :)
Just a little reverb and it's done ... lol .. I will share the drumkit preset for TD-25 soon
Solid groove, good kit setting too. Thanks for checking out my cover of this tune.
Nice cover! :)
Thanks :) ... The fills are not really in place so ... LOL ... But the pleasure is here !
Mal. Larry utiliza también el tom 2 aéreo en esta canción, aparte del floor tom.
