You nailed the Sunday Bloody Sunday snare sound.
Also you should definitely do a video about Jeff Porcaro if you haven't yet.

My neighbour is a great-grandmother, she's also the drummer in a U2 cover band. She's thinking about quitting and joining a Slayer cover band instead because the U2 thing is putting her to sleep.

Love Larry and U2. To me, Larry is to U2 what Ringo is to The Beatles. While they primarily play for the song, they manage to create unique and interesting parts that are all their own!

Okay here me out, but I think a Third Eye Blind drum sound video would be amazing. Brad Hargreaves is mad underrated as a drummer (See - "Wounded" or "Losing A Whole Year") and the first 3 TEB records have INCREDIBLE rock drum sounds that are so integral to the sound of that band, records, and the time.

Just coming from the Alex Van Halen video where I commented that his drum sound was probably my favourite rock drum sound… which made me think about Larry’s drum sound and I felt like you guys had already done it, but wasn’t sure. Great to rewatch it.
I heard Christmas (Baby, Please Come Home) today and the kick and snare are so powerful in that song. The man’s got a heavy foot.

Fantastic! Do Matt Halpern next!! He's known for using Pearl Drums as well as Meinl Cymbals, and here's a suggestion based on his current setup:
Pearl Reference drums or Similar (P5 - Djent Is Not A Genre):
    - 22x16 kick
    - 13x9 rack tom
    - 16x16 and 18x16 floor toms
    - 6x14 Matt Halpern Signature Brass Snare Drum
Remo Emperor Coated on top, Remo Ambassador Clear as resos on toms
Remo Powerstroke 4 on Bass Drum
Remo Emperor X/Ambassador Hazy on Snare Drum
Cymbals: Zildjian (L-R based on P3: Select Difficulty)
    - 20" Oriental Crash of Doom
    - 18" A Thin Crash or similar
    - 15" New Beat Hi-Hats
    - 8" A Custom Splash
    - 22" K Constantinople Medium Thin Ride Over-hammered
    - K Custom Special Dry Stack (17" Trash Crash over 18" Trash China)
    - 19" K Custom Dark Crash or similar
    - 21" A Ultra Hammered China
Some things to note is that Matt's engineer, Adam Nolly Getgood tries to use close mics on every part of the kit, including splashes, stack and so on.
They have mentioned the use of sample reinforcement and trying their best to avoid it in order to produce the most natural sounding drum sound for what they do, since Matt plays a lot of ghost note based grooves. For the kick drum, at least for P4, they put a tent over the bass drum with a blanket to focus the sound of the kick and avoid bleed from the rest of the mics.

One of the aspects about Larry Mullen's playing that I think its mostly ovelooked it his use of the tambourine, he uses it in so many song but never feels overused, just the right amount.

Alex Van Halen combined decades of kits through the DLR years the suggested drum set configuration era from Fair Warning to a different kind of truth. All though he’s a Ludwig/ Paiste endorse for decades for the basic set for drums Ludwig vista lite and for classic photos the right bass drum would 26x14 and left would be a 24x14.
Snare would be Ludwig superphonic 14x6.5
    Tom’s 12x8, 13x9
    Floor Tom’s 16x16 ,18x18
Now onto the accessories that aren’t Ludwig,
Concert Toms 8 and 10 inches set above the 12x8 Tom
Steve Weiss 12 and 14 roto toms set about the floor Tom’s
Tama low pitch 4 octobans set left of the hi hat for a combination of the decades kit.
Timbales 12 and 13 set below the octobans right beside the hi hat.
    Onto Paiste cymbals
Paiste and Alex had a box set which I don’t know if it’s available anymore and second hand would cost a lot.
    The set includes
15 2002 master sound hi hats
    19 2002 Crash
    20 2002 Crash
    20 2002 Medium Crash
    22 2002 Crash
24 2002 Al Signature Big Ride
    20 2002 China Type
Here’s a transcription with Zildjian cymbals if you can’t get your hands on it.
15 A Custom Mastersound bottom with A 15 K sweet hi hat top
    18 A Custom Crash
    19 A Medium thin Crash
    20 K Sweet Crash Ride
    20 K Sweet Crash
    24 A medium Ride
    21 A ultra hammered China
    20 A custom crash

@@wyrlismike It's funny that you say that, because if there's something that Larry has, it's a very good tempo, given that they use backing tracks from the Unforgettable Fire tour. In any case, I am clear that Larry is not a conventional drummer, but that is what differentiates him from the rest, drum lines like "A sort of home coming" are from another planet.
