One nice trick regarding Ordeal #3, if you go halfway between 2 of the triangles, right at the outer edge of the purple ring (max melee), you will not get hit by the triangle on either side of you. This means that since ordeal 3 is always 2 triangles that are either next to eachother or separated by 1, you can simply go to the triangle that is in the middle of the center V, and then go halfway to either side of it, tanks/melee can still hit the boss from here, ranged/healers can move further out just to be safe, and you'll always dodge both triangles without even needing to look at the rotation. For Ordeal 4 there's also a neat trick where if you quickly find which fuse is going to be straight, go opposite of it, then follow the arrows of the purple ring as far as you can go without crossing to the unsafe side of the straight fuse. So using the example in the video, you see that the north fuse is going to stay straight, so you go south, then since the purple ring is rotating clockwise, you also go clockwise while staying on the south half of the arena.
Hector, I just want to thank you again for these easy to follow, clearly illustrated guides. You've made getting into the savage scene so much easier for me.
I recently found your guides during my p5-8s progs and i love them. 10/10 animations and explanation. So i am even more happy to give you my exp with this fight. For Flamespire Brand the whole party can resolve their debuffs inside the middle safesquare, with the stack being exactly in the middle of the safesquare and the flare markers taking the corners of the safe square (either NW NE SE SW or N E S W depending in the flamerake spinningwheel). We used colorpairs for the positions so for example MT/R1 taking either the "A" or "1" corner spot and the otherone just walks middle to resolve the stack. So for example MT/R1: Y You check your debuffs, the spinningwheel starts, you adjust between your two colorpair markers like "A" "1". You see how the spinningwheel ends up and shoots. You adjust either to "A" or "1" to dodge it and then, if you have the flare marker, just walk slightly forward so you are safe from the 2nd cross hit but inside the safesquare in middle. And the otherone walks all the way to the middle to do the stack. Afterwards everyone goes back to their inital spread location and your are done. It reduces the movement for everyone and you can hit the boss all the time. I hope this may help a few people or maybe some will give it a try^^.
These guides are so much easier to follow than the ones that show the actual fight just because I can’t handle the flashing lights and such, so thanks for making these
We start this trial today and I want to say again that I love your guides because those pictures help so much taking the time to visualize and understand everything!
For Ordeal 4, position inside the curve of the white line that has its curve following the arrows. IE in this video example, the white curved line on the left , and you’ll always be safe.
For purgation 3, you can still be in the middle of the two cones. It will be tighter but you dont technically have to go to the side for those looking for a shortcut. I would also recommend noting the difference between Inferno (raidwide) at the beginning and Inferno (raidwide + clock spread) that happens once after flamespire brand and near the end after LC when the boss is transformed. Other than that, fantastic guide! Hope it helps everyone still trying to clear :)
Something Hector didn't discuss before beginning; after assigning groups and clock positions, make sure to go to "Sytem Configuration" and turn up "BGM", because the track is fire.
For Purgation 4 just make out the straight line and then look for the "zigzag line" on the purple ring that will NOT rotate onto that straight line. That's your safe pizza slice.
Oh btw one trick about sweeping immolation you can do is: If its the spread mechanic after clock position have the tanks stay in the bad side and use the immunity. you simply can ignore the netire mechanic that way as a tank and give more space to the rest of the party. Again only works on the Spread part. for stack still stack up :D
Thanks for the guide! I'm sad the rotating pieces style mechanics are present in almost every extreme this expansion. I really struggle with picturing where things will end up and it takes me more time to process it. I hope next expac they dont use it as much. Zodiark, endsinger, and now this one lol.
Please subscribe to this guy, he works hard to get this done and for all the help he has given the ff14 community he should have way more then 24k subs.
As always, your guides are top tier I've been struggling with this fight. Have a few clears under my belt but I was not grasping flamespire or immolation. After watching this I feel way more confident for my next try. 😌
Funny enough you can skip or almost skip the LC mechanic. Did it yesterday right away blind with a party and we cleared. It was so much fun doing the trial!
For #5 there is a super Braindead way. The direction the boss is facing becomes the new north. The south side (about half a pizza slice) of the northeast line is always safe.
I might be wrong or crazy but I think that during Limit Cut, the tethers are always pointing first at 7 and 8. I say this because we did it PF, and we scrambled like ants to understand it at first but we never saw them tether to anyone besides 7 and 8.
Hey Hector, perhaps one small thing to include in future videos that I have found myself doing in my annotations of your videos; in circumstances where there is no downtime that affects 2 minute buff windows, could you possibly add a note for when those 2 minute burst windows line up?
@@JoSan3specifically cleared as SMN instead of DRG. But warning to other SMNs, when entering Ifrit for the first time, do your Dash first, the Bind stops you from Dashing and it can futz the rotation.
This doesn't seem too bad. Ordeals are definitely the hardest part, and I imagine they won't be too bad after a few tries. Thank you for the guide, as always!
It's definitely easier to farm than EX4. For Ordeals, the only time I need to focus on the arrows is the first one. Every other Ordeals has a specific spot where you can cheese the entire mechanic.
You can also just use heavy mitigation and have flares also go in, but stay as far out from the stack as possible by postioning to the edge towards their clock position. So that no melee uptime is lost.
Correct me if im wrong, but i think purgation 6 on your video is inaccurate for the triangle/rectangle placement. Because from other videos and from the braindead strat, the safespot for that particular pattern 17:15 is supposed to be above the northeast triangle line but since the triangle/rectangle is like that, hence different.. it becomes unsafe. I think it's supposed to be the triangles at cardinals and the rectangles at intercardinals, but again cmiiw..
proud of myself for clearing this fight before any guides, but hearing how this works and hearing what my group thought was happening makes us feel so dumb lmao
My heart immediately sunk when i saw it was a 21 min video. This looks crazier than a savage! I think I’ll have to save this one for later till it gets echofied. 😢. Great guide as usual Hector!
Don't worry, I just talk too much! There's only a handful of difficult mechanics scattered around a lot of much easier stuff, so definitely worth giving a try!
I just ask my co tank to invuln the sweeping immolation (SPREAD) so that they have more space.. Just incase people are on the wrong spot.. DF's and PF's always struggle on this part....
How much mitigation do you need to just ignore the first Ordeal? The vuln stack will fall off before any major damage and the second Ordeal is super easy to dodge.
The monk in my static pointed this out, as this boss is very irritating with how often it turns. Definitely a good suggestion and worth doing if you can convince your tank!
What my group did when progging it blind was to have the blue numbers stack on the blue marker and red numbers stack on red marker to make it easier, and then take the attack on 1 for odds and 2 for even. super easy to remember but we only used those 4 markers, no clock position ones as they aren't really needed.
Would love if these guides quickly showed the mechanic in-game after your explanation, joonbob style. If you made two version, one with added gameplay footage, I'd watch both a couple times. (As a slow person lol)
One thing i'm curious about in this fight is actually raidbuff windows. Did your group hold raidbuffs or use it on cooldown. It's such a weird timing because they always come up during mechs or the add phase
We held buffs for after adds, but beyond that will depend a lot on kill time, which can vary massively from group to group. All mechanics other than adds are almost entirely full uptime so probably no need to hold buffs.
Are you sure about that? I’ve had double red on every single pull over several hours of doing the fight. Unless I had a bugged instance, it can only ever be double red.
Dude, that Inferno raidwide is barely a tickle for those that have cleared the savage raid tier and have 629/630 ilvl. I think it should have at least had a bleed on it. Purgation isn't bad. Flamerake has the worst snapshots I've ever seen. Why do they keep giving us repeated mechanics?
Man i really like and aprecciate your guides but can we stop using the clock spreads with healers S/W or S/E and get em back to W/E. Every range player in the corner far away from the healers will thank you. Seen way to many deaths from healers not moving in to AOE heal or ranged players not moving in to catch them and yes, you could blame either for not doing so, but spreading e/w on heal simplifies that. And there is no reason in this fight to not do.
Yeah this makes 0 sense. The clock spot for h2 has them run across the entire arena for sweeping immolation, lol. Then why put h1 so far away and not the safe spot next to it so they can help heal the group? I appreciate the work he puts in but PF is a mindless mass and these guides typically set a standard, even if its a negative one. I would like to see him make short videos that correct these inefficiencies, especially since PF will autopilot his guide that makes it so much more difficult on the healers.
The reason for a healer S is to allow full melee uptime with oppo immolation. Having healers E/W would lead to a tank having to lose uptime. Totally fair if you prefer fixed immolation, but I find the 'go opposite' strat simplifies the most likely mechanic to cause a wipe. If doing fixed, then E/W healers is preferable, though you're still likely to see deaths from damage if your healers aren't moving mid to hit all 8 with heals, especially after flamerake and the following inferno.
Why does flood ray always get called limit cut? Limit cut is cleave-dash-cleave-dash. Flood ray is vomit-vomit-vomit-vomit. I know it matters not, and I'm being too picky, lol 😝
how can this be something bad? on the contrary, it's good that in PF everyone does approximately the same strategy. so at least every time you don't have to adapt to a new team that came up with its own method
One nice trick regarding Ordeal #3, if you go halfway between 2 of the triangles, right at the outer edge of the purple ring (max melee), you will not get hit by the triangle on either side of you.

Fairly sure the limit cut tethers will always target 7 and 8, it's either that or our group was just insanely lucky with that somehow
bit confused for the 2nd sweeping immolation u got the first time? or is the 1st one always random and the 2nd one always a stack?
The first is random (in or out, stack or spread). The second is guaranteed opposite of what you got the first time.
