Thank you Thank you! You just saved me from spending an hour trying to remove the existing sanding disc. I removed 2 in the past manually and they were a nightmare.

Thanks a lot. Grizzly videos are indeed very helpful. I hope your owners' manuals are better than the ones I have received with most of my equipment that does not come from Grizzly. Not to mention some of the assembly instructions that come with new equipment. Looking forward to researching Grizzly in the near future.

Thanks a lot, I didn't think about the "adhere 1/2 at a time" idea I probably would've ruined my first replacement and all attempts after that. Thumbs up

Good video ... I have just two suggestions to make.
Firstly, mineral spirits is next to useless as a solvent for the left-on and possibly hardened adhesive. What you want to do is wipe the metal with a rag soaked in cellulose thinners, which will soften and remove the adhesive in double-quick time. After that, the metal should be wiped with isopropanol ( denatured alcohol) prior to installing the new disc.
Secondly, once the disc is on I like to use a J-roller to ensure adhesion all over prior to sanding anything.

Why does disc dresser stick not usually get mentioned. It is absolutely essential for extending the life of the sandpaper. And it’s dirt cheap.

I bought your 15” disc sander and base about 8 years ago. Overall, it’s great. But I do have a problem. Your “15” PSA discs do not stick to the platen. I clean off the platen with lacquer thinner to remove any left over adhesive. However, my new Grizzly 15” discs will not stay on the platen. Which sucks.

I wish grizzly would make sander without disc sander ,hate to fuss with glue and would cut the cost of sander a lot

I am a young shop teacher and am attempting to repair an older model, and am curious what that square peg is called on the disc sander that holds the metal disc plate is called? Without it the armature spins freely, and the disc does not move/ it slips. Do you know of what it is and where to order one? Thank you!

Hello Carson, thanks for watching and for teaching the next generation of woodworkers! Based upon what you're describing, I would say that you're speaking to a "key". A key is often found on motor shafts connecting things like the pulley, or in the case of a larger disc sander, the sanding disc itself. This is not always the case, however, as some models may feature reverse threaded designs, or even simple Allen key locking bolts on a flat spot on the motor spindle. That said, it sounds like a "key" is the missing link for you here, and the right size can be found on Grizzly.com's part store or from other vendors such as www.mcmaster.com . Just be sure to know each dimension for the keyway, and you're good to go.
