Good to see you wearing proper gear for welding I burned the hell out of my arms welding under a trailer from the hot sparks falling on my arms I'm polka dotted with scars on my arms had to get the job done first and last time I do that again!
Yeah that's a man, but have you seen all the comments of people complaining about it? Talking about "good job now go buy proper safety gear" bunch of sissies if you ask me. I'm not gonna spend 5 minutes putting on all my gear to run a 1inch bead. A friend of mine is always bitching at me about wearing gloves, and I always tell him the same thing, I'm like there called MAN HANDS go get you a pair.
Sek! thanks men.. i watched a ton of diverent beltgrinder vids.. i already made a frame using your V cutting technique.. i'm now creating the tracking and tension part..my original motor is not strong enough.. so i'm going to buy a angle grinder and use that for the power..[i saw this vid a few weeks ago.. i lost it but just now found you back again!] i'll post a video and send you a link when i'm ready.. thanks again for this build!!
Great job, real nice design..One thing to think about.Cut a 3/16 deep groove in the wood roller. This will also help the belt from wandering.Keep up the great work Whats next.,,?
Only thing missing now is a water drip so you can cool knife blades while you're sharpening them. I'm sure you and your trusty welder could work that one out. Otherwise it's a wonderful machine. Well done!
You're a very talented person. Thank you for sharing your project. One thing I noticed. It looks like you are welding galvanized square tube. I always grind back the galvanized part before welding. Some of those welds may be questionable.
Тоесть чтобы сварить три железяки для собственного пользования, просто необходимо быть сварщиком? Ну тогда я универсал, а вот деньги мне платят только за дальнобой.

great machine if you have a small tub or bucket under the sparks from grinding you can quench the workpiece and it will catch most of the sparkes and rubbish
While it shows a good result,........it's extremely difficult to weld things square. But it shows many ways to keep the cost down. People pay 1000 times too much fur these thing's.,......like its an industry standard or something.
I mean if you use a welder a decent amount ... you should be fine.. practice and anyone can weld straight , just don't think your going to weld something square the first time you pick up a welder.
If you want to make your piece square use tack welds to set your piece to your desired angle. If you check your angle after each tack, once you get 4 points tacked it shouldn't move. Plus if your angle isn't right you can cut the tack weld easily and reset for the angle you want.
Great video Iv built my forge Iv got a R×R track anvil and Iv fabricated everything I need to do blade smithing. Iv been using a hand belt sander. Finally somebody mentions the galvanized piping. You shouldn't be welding or forging anything that contains galvanized material it gives off poisonous gases that will kill you!!! Other than that great job I look forward to seeing more from you.
i was recently welding on a yard trailer i built out of bed rails and closet shelves. i used zinc plated bolts for the axles and ground the zinc coating off. thought it might mess with the welding so i removed it. mild steel does not agree with alloys very much.
Good work. Just an advice: remove the painting and coating BEFORE YOU WELD. Oh, and for the general public, when you´re drilling or sanding, once the material starts to smoke, you´re doing something wrong.

That's the most powerful motor I've seen on a DIY belt sander/grinder.
He makes do with what he has.
Well, looks can be deceiving. I have one 3 phase motor, maybe bigger than this, has only 800W. Can be pushed safely up to 2kW, but...😅
Love how this guy works in shorts and sandals. No worries here with hot work.
