Every fifth korean had ps and most of them had blepharoplasty, but I think this every fifth korean is young . So those 80% who didn't are old ,poor,or younger then 14 years. So sad.
I am ⅓ Chinese and have Chinese eyelids. Sometimes I think it would be lovely to have a crease or less fatty/puffy upper eyelids but wouldn't waste money on having surgery. I know one guy who did and now he looks freaky with wide eyes. Oh hell no.
For my genetic origins (Scandinavian) a monolid is a rare and really beautiful trait. Kind of pixie-ish, like Bjork. Just keep this in mind if you want to get this done for cosmetic reasons. Grass is always greener on the other side. I've always thought this look was more beautiful and youthful seeming than a deep crease. I learned from a kdrama that this is a fairly common wish for Asian people? Maybe not the best source. But I really don't understand why that would be. I think it's just that what is rare is considered desirable, so a double lid might seem cuter in Asian populations, since its rarer in that group.

I inquired with a surgeon about bilateral lower lid blepharoplasty. She told me does not make the incision below the eye, she cuts a lateral incision on the outer corner of the eye. Have you heard of this approach?

German heritage here ✌🏻all my family members have downturned eyes with excess skin. Everyone gets this surgery in my family around age 40-60 because gravity is a bitch and makes the eyelids heavy. Partially cosmetic, mostly for vision. Also I'm 21 and my eyelids get so oily! (Ew I know) because of the folds I have. It's very frustrating and any eyeshadow I want to try just doesn't looks good. I can't use Monolid techniques or non monolid techniques because I'm in between. Plus every damn photo where I'm smiling I look like my eyes are shut. I'd love to get this surgery.
Vision + oil sounds like great excuses to get it. But tbh, since it's doesn't sound like some eurocentric beauty standard concern, get it even if it's vain. Just make sure you choose a good surgeon ofc, wish you the best. ❤️
I have been told by doctors in the past that I may need this surgery. I am mostly Caucasian (European, Jewish, Middle East) but kids in school used to think I was part East Asian. Nope, it's genetics as if affected my grandmother's vision.
I thought I was the only person facing this problem
If you are mentioning monolid eyes as a problem, know that it isn't. It's beautiful.
@@nayanavinod19 some people have problems with there eyes due to this. Not just their appearance. My mom has it too. It makes it harder for her to see and it makes her think she's sleepy even though it's just because of her eyelids covering her eyeballs.
@@jesse_0607 oh I'm sorry, I didn't know that. What I meant is the aesthetic part and people doing surgeries for that which isn't necessary at all. We all are beautiful. It's just a judgemental society and unachievable beauty standards which change over time like crazy. ❤️❤️❤️

"To 'repair' the lower eyelid"🤔. Hearing such a remark from an ophthalmology academy while explaining cosmetic surgery is disappointing.
Some people need corrections due to actual medical conditions...especially the upper blepharoplasty.
@@lindatakesitback8945 that’s what I thought!
It’s not only for cosmetic purposes I believe, a lot of people actually do this due to medical conditions

Well when people with this type of eyelid get older the skin of their upper eyelid will start to sag which can obstruct vision so it is needed for them

@@user-jz5vw2lj9c that's not what I said. I wanted to know if it included India.
There are a lot of variants within Asia. It's not all just "Asian".
The people with the monolids are mostly the Chinese, Korean and Japanese. If you only counts those 3 countries then it's way more than 50%
May I ask why people think monolids are beautiful? I grew up with nearly everyone around me has monolids. We think monolids make eyes look smaller and make people look like they haven't have enough sleep, while double eye make eyes look bigger and more "woke up". So I am really curious.
@@user-jz5vw2lj9c I find it incredibly hard to believe that they are referring to all Asians. I think these links are INCORRECTLY using Asian as a term of East Asians.
@n e z u k o no, monolids are beautiful. In fact, they were the beauty standard in many East Asian countries, until the Americans hijacked our culture and inserted their own beauty standards as global.

Which country is best for treatment of blepharoplasty?
My mom got this not for vanity but because as she aged (she was like 70 already) the skin over her eyes became droopy and it was affecting her vision. It had great results for her health and appearance too. Now, there's other people who don't need this and do it anyway, and they end up looking like if they were sick because too much fat and skin is removed and their eyes get sunk in the bone orbits. They look like if they were starving. Did you listen? *UGLIER* than before.
I'm 62 and the same thing is happening to me. I'm so scared to get it fixed because of all the horror stories I've heard!
Agree, because of this trends in SK everybody thinks ps is just for visuals, not for medical reasons, now people who don't need the ps do it and look so fake, like dolls or more uglier, when I first saw chinese (actress or model,I don't remember) with blepharoplasty(she did for visual) ,I was shocked, because she was pretty before and didn't need it. Also I don't understand how they can so easy go and do ps,that's so stressful,my mum when got the implant for her tooth was crying a lot and in the SK little kids do blepharoplasty, like what their parents think when allow them do it...
How much does it takes to completely to get normal eyelids after surgery. I mean will their me trace of surgery in eyelids
Well, well, well! Look who fell asleep first at the sleepover!
I never thought I would ever see people get this heated over eye surgery but here we are.
How safe is this surgery? Is there risk of damage to the eye?
If I were you, I would talk to your doctor about referring you to an ocular plastic surgeon, who specializes in surgery with the eyes. Just to be on the safe side.
There's always risks.
Your iris won’t be damaged. But there are normal possible complications that COULD always occur
Little to no risk of damage to the eyeball. If there was it'd be because the doctor was an idiot because they're not operating on the actual eye..
does anyone else love the narrator's voice??
I have natural fat and lines under my eyes since I was baby. I'm only 26 and it makes me appear older and tired. I tried to use creams and serums for dark circles and bags to see if that would help but I'm not surprised it wasn't very effective.
Does that make a big difference

People just prefer the look of double eyelids so people with monolid eyes get surgery to make them look more attractive.
@@fridge_clips01 is double eyelid really more beautiful than mono lid? I have mono lids and I struggle to accept this fact everyday =(

it's not gonna go as smooth as this video people ... think about the scar which wont go away, and some people might not be able to close their eyes. Do your own research and try to research in Asian languages.
There's no scar if you have a good doctor you know.. and there's no way you'd be unable to close your eyes unless they removed some tendon. This surgery isn't only for cosmetic reasons some people have actual problems with their eyelids
