I’m not of Caribbean descent so I’m a bit ignorant to some of these techniques and the reasons why. Thank you for sharing your wonderful father cooking skills with us. Now I have to try and find a local Caribbean market to find those seasonings or order them online somewhere. Oh and my dad always teases me about my “fresh” rice. Black people in southern US uses the term the same way as West Indians👍🏿
I've noticed that blacks from the southern USA, and Caribbean blacks make similar dishes. It makes me wonder what has been hidden from us. The Charibes (Caribs) were a tribe of native blacks, who supposedly resided exclusively in the Caribbean. I am wondering if they lived as far as the Southern USA. Additionally, the Tainos, another tribe of natives blacks in Jamaica and exclusive to Jamaica, are being told that they are Maroons from Africa. Then why are there Maroons all over the Caribbean? The Martin's knew the lands better thsn the Africans they brought in as slaves. How could these so called Africans got to know the land well enough to form a separate group and successfully rebel against the British? Research your own history and don't ask your enemy to tell your story.
@@namienamie2167 A lot to explain, and this comment was years ago, but the majority of the Tainos, Kalinagos "Caribs", were wiped out (genocide) at the beginning of slavery hence why we didn't retain a lot of their culture. The Jamaican culture is really a mixed culture where the majority of what we retain is from enslaved Africans, and it's not fully African culture because they were forced to make changes, etc. Southern USA had many enslaved blacks also, the slave trade was dominant in the Southern USA, hence why the dishes may be similar. It could also be because most immigrants from the Caribbean tend to reside in the Southern states, due to things such as the similar temperature...
As someone watching from the U.K. I can respectfully state that your dad is absolutely correct. He said the chicken should be ready in 3/4 of an hour. That is also correct. I think that Canadians and Americans from the USA speak American English, where as a person of your fathers generation tends to still speak English. Jamaica is now heavily influenced by the USA - so everything is now Americanised. Great show. The chicken looks great. However in the U.K. we kinda prepared it slightly different. The rice looks delicious. A+ for both the dish and presentation. Thanks you & Peace 🙏😏

Their commentary had me smiling and laughing the entire time, I love their relationship. And when the food was finished and I saw that chicken wing, I had the same reaction as Miss Daughter. She’s so fortunate that she gets to taste it from the source. 🤤💕

I just loved their interacting. I got memories from when my father was alive, he always cook his delicious meals and have me around asking questions while he cooked. It was a beautiful great momentum. This video brought me memories with my dad, having me testing his food while he cooked , laughing, joking, and having my father around. Girl, who ever said something is just jealous. God bless your dady, God bless your family. God bless you.
He's very shy. If she didn't talk while he's cooking, I wouldn't know everything he's doing. I love their relationship. They balance each other very well! I've watched videos where the cook hardly talked at all and it was very boring. She's learning a lot of things just like many of us are and the questions she asks while he's cooking helps me understand everything he's doing. Love their relationship!
One of the best Dad's ever!! The quality time with his daughter in the kitchen, priceless. The food looks appealing, next time a lil less salt though. Beautiful!
She need to let her daddy shine more he IS the one doing the cooking. I would like to see more of his personality and hear more of his voice because I just love the Jamaican accent. JS
Coconut water is good for your daughter!! That’s what my mother always said. 😂 This roast chicken looks so good. I can’t wait to try Deddy’s recipe. ❤️
I watched all 42 minutes and 47 seconds of this and I appreciated every bit! Thank you for sharing this with us! I am pretty amazed at how it seems that half of these comments have nothing to do with the food or his cooking, but about the daughter who is filming and speaking. Everyone has their opinion, sure, but what is the need for the nastiness? In the whole video, the dad didn't seem irritated with her at all. They appeared to have a fun-loving relationship and showed joy over the cooking. And since I am new to Jamaican-style cooking, I appreciated her questions and commentary because there was a fair amount that "Deddy" didn't explain in the moment! That's not to insult the chef at all, it just helped to have the clarifications. Anyway, so many seemed to have negative opinions, so that was mine. 🌞 Thanks for this fantastic video, will come back for more!
Yeah, a lot of people can tend to be very brutal with their commentary when it comes to something that they already know. I’m glad you enjoyed it! I did as well.
I really enjoy your deddy's cooking. I have learned to cook real Jamaican dishes for my family. And they are enjoying every meal. Your Mom's cake and turkey wings where a big hit at our family regular after Church Sunday dinner with my siblings and friends. Thank you so much for bringing your parents and their wonderful cooking to RUclips. God Bless 🙏❤️🙏
Your dad looks like my dad. My dad died in 2007. When I saw your dad, I just started crying. Spend as much time as you can with your dad. Tomorrow isn't promised.
I actually like how long this was..ever since i was a little girl, i loved to be in the kitchen, watching, learning and helping..my mother was an excellent cook who explored all things food, she was two time small business owner of take out restaurants amongst another business she had shares in with my dad..My step "deddy" was from Kingston, she learned all the infamously renowned dishes and so i did too learn many. I enjoyed watching him too. He made some of the most amazing natural juices.."healing properties" make ya feel irre!😁 Ginger juice! Yea mon, one of my fav's. So far i am enjoying your channel will keep bell ringing notifications..looking forward to more success from it.
She said Jamaicans especially clean their chicken. Well I'm African American, and I know we clean our chicken really good too as I'm sure every other black culture does. And not measuring your ingredients is something I notice that older African Americans do because like you said, it's all in their heads. And I'm sure that's with most older black people who know how to cook where ever they come from around the world, it's the same. But aside from all of that, her father sure can handle that knife like a pro, you just know he's a real cook.
@@kathyw.3146 Agreed. I have also been taught that the cleaning process requires using a knife to remove feathers, hair, "pimples", and feather ducts, as well as to gut it.

Beautiful meal. Made me miss my moms cooking. A lot of what your dad did reminded me of my mom, from washing the chicken to the way he seasoned his rice and even him washing the cloth and making the washing sound. I also use to try and copy making that sound. Thank you to you and your dad for the happy memories and the wonderful visual of the meal.

@@gracewilliams4238 Her dad is a very reserved laid back dude. Jamaican men take cooking seriously and don't usually talk much during the process due to usually preparing many dishes all at once. Not to mention to fully understand what's happened Ingredients and temperatures and setting the correct temperatures.
Really enjoyed watching your father, the way he looks when cooking the food. Pure enjoyment from his expression. Thanks for sharing
I just love deddy...he's such a loving and humble man. We need more men like him and fathers in this world.

Hi love the food. I did the steam fish. Have you considered putting some type of mic on Deddy so he can be heard. This would help out listeners. Thanks

What a sweet father/daughter relationship! This man is cooking some delicious looking food with seasonings I’ve never heard of! “Lord have Mercy”. I can’t wait to try his recipes! Now I need to figure out where to get these seasonings! He is gifted in the art of cooking! I wish I could taste the food through the screen!
I am all into been clean in the kitchen and he was constantly cleaning his area and I liked that. Good job. 👍
He dealt with her chat through the whole video. Bless you sir!! The food looks awesome!
Deddy should totally make his own line of seasonings to sell. I would buy them!
Yes.. Please!!😋😋
God bless your daddy he's so cute with his shyness
Yes he is 😍
Adorable!
I'm trying not to leave the video because he's adorable and she's annoying. This is kind of tough.

Their commentary had me smiling and laughing the entire time, I love their relationship. And when the food was finished and I saw that chicken wing, I had the same reaction as Miss Daughter. She’s so fortunate that she gets to taste it from the source. 🤤💕
Where do you get Favoriz to by?
He reminds me of my dad,a man of few words but his cooking is like none other. This place looks amazingly good.
Why ppl hating I bet her dad wouldn't do this if she hadn't encouraged him,So let the ppl share their lives,I enjoyed it,beautiful relationship,I wish I had my dad to cook with geez

They're mad that they had no father or positive male role model
My dad used to love to cook. I miss him so much. RIP daddy.
💜
came across your channel for your coconut rice recipe and I haven’t stopped watching since. love your bond with your dad! it reminds me of my own dad❤️ i’ve tired 3 recipes so far and they are amazing. I just gotta find flavorice 😂
A daughter's love for her father is a special special thang. I enjoy watching you two. Best cooking channel, bless
That’s what I’m thinking the horrible comments are from sour people or hurt people or people who don’t like seeing others happy
JS
Yu zeet!
Never watched this before, sounds and looks wonderful. Enjoy very much.
Looks wonderful, I think I can smell it.
Yea she's annoying!! I want to hear dad!
But he likes his daughter doing the talking, he's just happy to show us how to be hygienic and cook food with flavour.
Love your comment! I couldn't believe the negative ones I saw. Ppl are unbelievable
Yeah, a lot of people can tend to be very brutal with their commentary when it comes to something that they already know. I’m glad you enjoyed it! I did as well.
He’s so patient. I enjoyed watching and listening to you both in the kitchen.
Family!!
He made some of the most amazing natural juices.."healing properties" make ya feel irre!😁
Ginger juice! Yea mon, one of my fav's. So far i am enjoying your channel will keep bell ringing notifications..looking forward to more success from it.
I LOVE how excited you get whenever your Dad does anything! ^_^ so sweet!!
Yes wash Chicken. I don't care what Government talking about. I'm washing chicken. Then clean sink and counters with Bleach
Right!! Always wash chicken!! Never did it with vinegar tho so I’m definitely doing that going forward! New subscriber ❤️
I love the relationship with you and your dad. This is so amazing
@@kathyw.3146 Agreed. I have also been taught that the cleaning process requires using a knife to remove feathers, hair, "pimples", and feather ducts, as well as to gut it.
The government is of a different race, and then tend to be a bit more dirty. They also eat raw meat.
This was the most beautiful RUclips video I’ve ever watched. I wish I’d had more time with my Dad. I will be making this recipe just like your Dad made it! Bless your beautiful family!
What was the total cooking time for the chicken?
hi guys, so let me start by saying that i love all your videos. I am Cuban (from Cuba not Miami) lol but my wife is Jamaican so i have been showing out doing deddy's recipes.. I made the coconut rice and the chicken and the gravy and it was AMAZING, I also made your rice and peas so next will be something jerk. I just found a video about your guys making Jamaican dry run so im going to be making some. Im very interested in the seasoning that he uses and some i cant find anywhere ,not even Jamaican stores (favo Riz) . you guys are GREAT and THANK YOU for all your videos
I’m kinda jelly... I miss my father... wishing I could have made memories like this! You are exactly how I used to be with my father as a child... all the questions! I love it 🥰 Keep making more videos! He should copy right “Lord ha-mercy!!! “
I loved watching this. My grandmother was from SC and she would bust a coconut open with a hammer and give it to us fresh. It was soooo good. Brings back so many memories.🥰🥰🥰🥰

I'm a southerner and we definitely clean our food. I used to watch how my mom would clean chitterlings. She would always say you can't eat from everybody. I applaud your father Mr. Deddy in his cleanliness and cooking. God bless him. Thank you for assisting him.
Could tell you have a good relationship. Treasure these moments. Life’s too short. Enjoyed his cooking.
Dwl.. u had me laughing d whole time.. ur relationship with ur dad is absolutely golden..u saying daddy for everything..so sweet...enjoyed this.. ur dish looks delish!!!
Deddy you are smooth as silk! Thank you Miss Daughter for talking me through every move, you made this effort fun and interesting. I watched, took notes and replayed everything step-by-step as I prepared this meal including the real coconut! Yeh mon!! I did that !!!! I cleaned up as I went..jus like ya said! Only a couple mistakes ... I didn’t wait for the coconut water to boil before adding the rice😖 still delicious -a little mushy, I should have taken the Chicken out after 1 45 minutes Instead of 2 hours. Great favor thou-I can’t wait to make the next meal! Keep up the great work Deddy and daughter! 🙏 thank you
Z?
I’m glad that he’s taking the time to explaining everything as he goes along. His food is looking so delicious. That’s how I learn how to cook by watching and asking questions😉
You are blessed to have a wonderful dad and he cooks for his family God bless you and your family
Love your dad's smile.. Looks like this is bringing him so much joy.... I commend yalls hard work ethic 👏🏾 👏🏾 👏🏾 👏🏾
Blu EzLoveYoga Awww thanks so much love! He really does enjoy doing this for you guys! It’s super new to him! Thank you for watching! We appreciate you!
The Deddy stance at the end off the video is the icing on the cake💜
Im Puerto Rican raised with a mixture of West Indian family so I'm tryna combine the two cultures cuz I always want island food but all my elders have been gone with the exception of 3 (out of 14) so these videos are amazing on multiple levels - thank u for this
All I can say is, it's a good thing I heard you mention "mama" because I was about to book the next flight out and come and find him! Just kidding, but it looks Sooooo very wonderful!
Psalm 103:1 Bless the Lord O my soul and all that is within me bless His Holy name! :5-Who satisfies my mouth with good things!...
You are a very patient Dad, and an excellent cooker!❤🤗
"🤣🤣🤣🇯🇲🇨🇦"The Jamaican in us doesn't let us throw out old pots!!!" I'm living that right now. My Mum has used the same pots for over 40 years and guess who's still using them . 🙄 Even though dear Mum has passed away, I can't get myself to throw them out. Mind you those pots were top line pots she bought. As for the wash rag srcrips noise? I still can't do it either. I tried so hard when Mum taught me. Oh well 🥰👍🏾🤗Love this channel.
Speaking as a woman that lives 2 mins from her father and has no relationship at all with him the selfish me is jealous and it's sad, I absolutely LOVE y'all's bond all girls need a great dad❤️ ur truly blessed
Try to make contact with your father Ramisha. Be the bigger person and make the first move - be persistent and don't give up. God will honour your efforts my lovely sister. God bless you!

Jealous of what!
No reason to be jealous

Your father has a beautiful sweet smile and he can definitely cook! Hope you continue recording his techniques & recipes so you can pass it on and to future generations.
The dad said some thing true... practices to become perfect. I like the way he cooks.
I planned on making roasted chicken today and wasn't sure what I was gonna put with it, but then I saw your video and got inspired to make the coconut rice (which I've never done before). It was beautiful...
Thank you!

This was prepared with so much love can’t wait to try. It seems like daughter put him up to doing this video he just so laid back.
I love my Spanish food but, I’m falling in love with Jamaican food 🥘 thank you for all these good recipes 💞
Looks so delicious, Sasha and Deddy! Going to make today! I just wanted to point out that you keep mentioning that you want to limit salt due to cholesterol levels, however, sodium actually impacts blood pressure, so those with hypertension should limit intake. It is the butter that would affect cholesterol level. Otherwise, keep up the good work and would love to see how Deddy cooked those vegetables! 🥕🌶🥦🤗
Oh my goodness I’m glad I stumbled Upon on this. Daddy and daughter, what an awesome relationship It’s beautiful.
I think your banter with daddy just adds to the authenticity of the presentation of the program.
I’m in the U.K. and I keep saying to my dad about your dads resemblance to someone we know over here. Eyes, hands, movements, smile, lips, everything.
God’s grace, health and blessings to you all and mum.
This is my first watch so please forgive me if there are any sibs but big love to all the family. 🙏🏾
Absolutely awesome! Love the patience, time and love that he put in this meal
It is so sweet to see dad and daughter so close I love looking at daddy kitchen 💗
I love her narrative, keeps it lively because he is a quiet guy concentrating on his work. Never made Jamaican food but will try this for sure. Coconut rice is what got my interest.
The unseen voice is so annoying. I would prefer listening to the cook explain what he is doing.
@@gracewilliams4238 uh yeah...
What you mean especially Jamaicans
@@gracewilliams4238 Her dad is a very reserved laid back dude. Jamaican men take cooking seriously and don't usually talk much during the process due to usually preparing many dishes all at once. As you can see Jamaican cooking is a labour of love and paying attention is a necessity. Plus you woud be watching an almost silent video without her commentary. Not to mention to fully understand what's happened Ingredients and temperatures and setting the correct temperatures. The family dynamic of daughter and dad is a marketing goldmine, it speak wholesome family in a disfunctional world. No high tech soulless stainless steel looking cooking area.
I tried Deddy's method of spice rub mixed with olive oil on some chicken wings and it was a hit! Thank you for this great tip!
I love Deddy’s spirit, so kind and sweet. I'm going to try this meal, as close as I can get. Thanks 😄
I really appreciate the fact that you talked us through the whole process a lot of cooking shows doesn’t do that you showed us everything every single ingredient I liked that little brown sugar at the end thank you keep doing what your doing God bless.
Im sorry but I've had to turn off this video as I couldn't stand anymore of her incessent repetition of what her father said.
Father and daughter a fuljoy themselves while some out here a cuss if it so annoying why keep coming to the people channel and then turn around a fuss and a cuss
I really miss my dad. Next time heat the coconut before cracking. Make sure to poke wholes in the eyes and drain before
