Everything about this song is amazing…the melody, lyrics, piano intro and those guitar solos! A masterpiece.

Bowie was way ahead of his 'time'. The Ziggy/Aladinsane period is my favourite.
One of the most cynical and wistful songs ever written. Would be career defining for most artists. For Bowie, third or fourth best on that particular album. I love this song.

It was an amazing decade with such a variety of sounds from glam to funk to punk to prog to soul to rock to dub. It went all down hill after that.

This really should have so many more views from Bowie fans ! I noticed he had to change 'wanking' to 'swanking' in the lyrics, but no TV at that time would have allowed such risque lyrics. Not so very live though, recorded band, recorded vocal, and singing another lead vocal, at one stage the recorded vocal for 'we should be on by now' got in before him, and he gave a wry smile picking it up mid line. That's show biz. MIss you David Bowie.

I have been watching bootleg videos of this and other Bowies videos from this particular show for years and most with a lot of quality flaws or missing spots but was happy to see them and could live with them! ...But finally, it's so great to start seeing very high-quality original TMS videos here on "The Midnight Special" channel from Bowie's 1980 Floor Show that aired back in 1973 and I remember it like it was yesterday! ...I sure hope eventually the whole show will be shown in its entirety! ...As there was nothing else ever like it ever since as it was almost the end of his Ziggy-Aladdin persona! ...Absolutely Bowie fantastic!
Thank you Midnight Special for releasing it and the many other shows and artist you have been sharing as I have been praying for many, many, many years for this musical history day to come from you!
