The power armor in this is much closer to the book descriptions than anything in the first few ST movies
Plus the fact that the Arachnids in this OVA have long ranged weaponry.

@@drphot6050 while I agree that the human death should had have a little bit of blood, most of the kill in this OVA was either the Arachnids or the pilot inside the PA which exploded.

As a big fan of the novel and I looked up the full series it’s definitely a lot closer to it then the movie which I like but the series defiantly tries to be as close to the book as possible but decides to show the parts of it that don’t matter

Well, this anime is called an OVA/OAV or basically Original Video Animation/Original Animation Video. Anime made directly for the home video market. VHS and Beta Max were a hot innovation then. Anime too extreme (which is why they're so graphic and violent/no broadcasting censors) for tv was often made into OVA's/OAV's/or even direct to video movies. That's part of why 80's anime is often said to be "bloody/gorier/more violent" than stuff todays.

I really want to find the soundtrack from the OVA.
I was almost tempted to mewl about how this looks nothing like the movies and that some American company probably just grafted the Starship Troopers name onto some random OVA as a selling point, but then I remembered that there was a book that this anime could have followed more closely.
Surprisingly, this adaptation is one that is the most faithful to the novel.

I do lots of Wikipedia reading mostly! My favorite aspect of this entire channel is definitely finding things that are not readily available, I especially love finding something that is not available for streaming anywhere at all

Subjective.
Is it a better story? Certainly. There's much more exposition, character development and actual explanation of events, so you actually have an understanding of what's happening beyond the movie's simplistic portrayal of "humans good, bugs bad." As with any war, it's a lot more complicated than that, and the book explores that. Is the book exciting? Not really. If you're expecting something like a novelization of the movie, you'll be disappointed.
That said, I still think the movie is fun for what it is, but it's hardly a faithful adaptation of the novel.
Depends on whether you agree with the politics, because there's a LOT of politics.
The humans look great in this, but what the hell happened to the bugs?
Yeah, they really anime'd the bugs up in this one.
@@C.M.Giordanofunctionally they're the same as the book, hivemind species, use energy weapons that can carve through armour in one shot, they just look fucked up.
@@jamesliu8095 yeah, I left another comment further down about how this adaptation is much more faithful to the book, the bugs just look different.
@@C.M.Giordano very true, I've actually got a model kit of this exosuit as both were based on the Japanese translation' illustration and it included a booklet of the art, they definitely understood that they were arachnids as the bug in the art was indeed a bug, so I believe that the animation studio took some artistic liberty, likely because animating that many legs would be expensive, which is why these 'bugs' sort of glide and stand there with their mouths open, easier for large scale battles so that the animators could focus on the power armour.
The novel,ova, and the cgi tv series even the cgi film sequels to the live action ones are better than the live action versions
im sorry im late for this and getting hunted for not wanting this version....yes i know this is the same from books but i rather want the live action more bec this Alien(Bugs maybe) are OP as hell, even those so called Power Armors are USELESS and guns are SHIT
in live action you can fight back with your assault rifles even without their Marauder Armors from CGI movies, you may call those movies shit but at least it gave humanity hope for fighting chance than being blasted in your face with their puke fire balls
