You're right, absolutely NO regrets! I've graduated 3 students from our homeschool already(#1 is a Marine, married and has a 1 y.o. #2 is in her last semester of college and #3 is newly married). My kids didn't "miss out" on anything! None of them wish they had gone to public school. Being obedient to God is the most important thing! HE will lead, guide and provide.

Former public school teacher here. I’ve been homeschooling my kids for 3, going into our 4th year. I started homeschooling because I was home after cancer, and then Covid hit. My daughter is going into middle school this year. I went back and forth whether to send her to middle school with my husband, where he works. Then I hear the stories of his day…..and I’m confident I’m making the correct decision for my family. I also have a 24 year old, she went through the public school system, graduated ‘17, and she went through so much, I know God is in our story, 😊 God Bless everyone! Have a great school year!🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤

I needed to hear this today. We are about to start my daughters 7th grade year and I have had those exact feelings. I want her home I love her home but she keeps talking about wanting to go back and then when I see post of her friends moms I get those exact feelings your talked about. I know though what is happening in her school and I know homeschool is the best for her but I still get that guilt or feelings of questioning myself. Thank you for your channel and your words today because they were so fruitful and I needed them today.❤

I have been homeschooling for 16 years and have zero regrets. So far, I have graduated two of my children. My oldest is studying nursing and my secondborn will graduate from Marine bootcamp next week. Trust the process. Being consistent in teaching your children will result in reaping a harvest. I will never regret that time with them. They are thriving in the "real world".

I am a SAHM after being a teacher for 6 years, and I have a 1 year old who I'm planning on homeschooling when the time comes. Thank you so much for the reminder of why I am planning doing it. For whatever reason, with all the back to school pictures on Facebook from various people, I've been missing setting up my classroom and my students, even though staying home is absolutely the right decision for me and my family. I needed that reminder that I can feel fulfilled raising and teaching my own child just as much (if not more than) as teaching other kids.

I totally know that feeling with my 7th grade daughter. She went to “school” PK2-1st and I’m seeing all her old friends mom post similar pics. Then I think about the mean girl situations she’s had to deal with during this summer. In the end, I know having her home is the best thing for us.

    • @OneBlessedMess

Thank you so much for sharing! My daughter will be in the class of '29 too and I totally get what you're saying. There are things she won't experience from middle and high school that I remember as positive, fun things. But I keep reminding myself that she's experiencing things I never got to as a kid! And we love spending so much time together. Also, times have changed so much that the negatives outweigh the positives of public schools now IMO. It can be tricky with one kid, but she has a lot of friends (all public schooled) and is a competitive gymnast. Her life is full and very blessed!

    • @OneBlessedMess

Yes!!! I think we are programmed to remember the nostalgic, positive things, but when I really think back to that time - 😖!! And it's even worse now for kids!

My oldest is entering 7th too and I am having similar feelings. There are parts of public school that I did not like, but there were experiences I loved (being with friends, sports/activities). Thankfully we have local homeschool sport opportunities and music. She has been building relationships with other homeschool children her age. It’s a drive though, 30-45 minutes one way a couple times a week. It’s hard at times (I’m an introvert) but I love seeing her build positive relationships without all the peer pressures of public school.

Aw, the sign is so cute! Crooked or not - LOL! You really spoke so much truth on the middle/high school topic. I have an 8th grader and a 10th grader, and I feel that to the deep part of my soul. I have panic moments and doubts, but God continually confirms our family's calling. I don't know why He called us to be different, and it's hard to be different, but I trust in His plan for our family and my kids. But yeah... it can be lonely or make you feel like an outsider when you go against the norm, for sure!

I hear you on that initial thought of your child missing out. I too have a homeschooler that is in the class of 2029 and periodically I see posts similar to what you shared , and for a brief moment I start to question if we're doing the right thing. While I remember those photogenic moments as a seventh grader (that attended public school), there are SO many moments that I'm actually glad my seventh grader is not being exposed to. Thanks for sharing your honest thoughts, we're all there with you.

We are basically the same planner people! Lol. I've been using plum paper for the past 4 years as well. And this year I actually got a Monday through Sunday weekly spread with the lined boxes. We sometimes do things on the weekends and I was tired of trying to write it all in that little space for the weekend. I'm loving it so far. We are about three weeks in and it's been going okay... Still working out some kinks, but also still really happy to be homeschooling. Our local public schools started back this week and I'm so grateful I don't have to deal with all the issues I've been seeing complained about online.

Thank you so much for this video❤ Everything you said was so encouraging. I have 4 kids and we are going into our third year of homeschooling. My kids were previously at a private school and we began homeschooling due to some unforeseen changes in our state. We have all really embraced homeschooling and there are so many things we love about it, but as you said, those feelings can still creep in sometimes, particularly during those “big” moments when friends are posting photos of their kids. It is reassuring to hear that other homeschooling Moms go through these mixed emotions! Also I love your chalkboard sign you made! 😊

I agree, like many others- no regrets. I praise God for His provision in all ways- mentally, physically, financially, spiritually, His grace, His wisdom & knowledge, etc.
I usually plan the first entire half of the year- and then know what needs to get done, so if we take a break- we double down, or I know that I need to adjust the second half of the year, to stay on track. It seems to have worked so far.
God has been faithful to teach and grow me through homeschooling- as I teach my children.❤️
    Great video.❤️🙏🏻

I cannot love this video enough! ❤ My oldest went to public school from pre-k to 2nd. He'll be in 6th grade this year and when I saw the back to school pictures of some of the kids he went to school with, a feeling of sadness and guilt came over me of things he's missing out on. But it didn't take long for God to remind me that we made the best decision for our kids to homeschool them knowing what all is taught and goes on in public schools. I have such a peace with our decision and am so blessed to be able to homeschool them ❤❤

How do you balance reverse planning with encouraging your kids in their independence in homeschool? Do they just always know to go to the next lesson? And if there’s something out of the ordinary do you give them a list at the beginning of the day? I like the idea of reverse planning but my kids do like to have a list of what to do each day so that they know what to expect. But I do hate having to chance the schedule once it’s made when life happens! So I’m always weighing those. Right now I’m just planning a week at a time on Sundays for their independent work and then I plan our whole 9 week term for morning time at one time so that I always know where I’m going with that.

Thank you so much for sharing your heart on homeschooling as your kids are getting older. I had that exact same moment a few weeks ago as my oldest started his 9th grade curriculum. We had a prayer walk through a local high school with our church, and it made me a little sad that he wouldn’t be there. It was so weird because I haven’t questioned our decision in the 7 years we’ve been homeschooling until that moment. I do still feel like homeschooling is the right decision, but the Holy Spirit definitely used your words to give me that extra assurance that we are doing the right thing. ❤

Love your chalkboard! The world needs more devoted moms who stay home to raise and educate their children. Children need their parents to guide them in this life. The world can take them by storm and miss led them. I never thought I would homeschool but God has laid it on my heart since my youngest was 6 years old to homeschool, she now is 17 years old and will be graduating next year and her plan is to go into culinary school. She has a gift and talent for baking and decorating cakes and cookies. I don't think she would have discovered her passion without being homeschooled. I have 6 children and even though it has been very hard I don't regret having them home educated. I have experienced interest-led learning and my older children have blossomed in learning things that they don't teach in public schools. I let them learn things on their own because, in the real world, no one holds your hand to teach you. They have learned to teach themselves things that I could not. Homeschooling can be purposeful, rewarding, and even joyful. The public schools have ripped the joy of learning for grades and standardized test scores.
