YES to using open-and-go curriculum!! This is my 3rd year teaching. Last year, I attempted to use an LA curriculum that was realllllly heavy on piecing together tons of books, lots of online links, and lots of activities. Sometimes, our kids just want to have a smooth lesson instead of trying to be super fun. Open-and-go is what I enjoy best for teaching - takes such a load off of me as the teacher!
Good morning! I’ve been watching your channel more recently, and I’m loving all of your advice! Thanks for sharing these tips for fellow homeschool mamas! I live in MN and have a 5.5 year old, 3.5 year old, and 5 month old - we’ve homeschooled for preschool and pre-k for a couple years already but today we get to officially start kindergarten for my oldest! 🤗
I forgot to say, one of my favorite time hacks is to get up before the kids do! Ideally, I love getting up at least an hour before everyone else…but that’s not always feasible, and I’ve found that even being ‘vertical’ for 5 minutes before the kids wake can make a difference in my attitude and perspective on the day!
This helps me so much too! It’s so hard in the late fall/winter when it’s so dark out in the AM and I’m not a morning person at all, but my day goes so much better if I have my quiet time before jumping into all the things with all the people 🙂
I am going to try to make this a reality this year, too! I woke up an hour earlier over the summer and got SO much accomplished before the kids woke up! 🥰
I’m a ninth year homeschooler and agree with everything you said. I just sent your video to two of my friends that just started homeschooling this year. Thank you for sharing!
We do Friday fun days as well for specials/field trips/appointments. I can't handle reverse planning. LOL No lesson planning either...just do the next lesson. Most of our subjects are grouped as well--science/history/art/bible/geography.
I love reverse planning! I tried future planning this summer and I kept having to edit because our plans kept changing and it was driving me crazy so I went back to reverse planning.
Yes for reverse planning!! I have learned that finally works best for us too. We don’t need to keep records for my state, but I like it for myself! I have a rough estimate for the routine/flow and we will go with each new day and that works best for all of us. 😊
I try to spot clean here and there throughout the day, but I have had to make schooling my #1 priority and all heavy cleaning/laundry comes after the school day or during our lunch break! ❤️
I always love your vlogs you are very inspiring I’m staying home with my pre school grandson this year and thinking hard about just homeschooling him and his brother next year but I’m so scared lol if I can do it
Good morning, Mamas! ☕️ Thank you for joining me today! What are some of YOUR time hacks?!
Yes!! To all five of these!! You are spot on with all of these. Have I ever said how much I love your channel? There is such encouragement here. 🥰
As a 13th year homeschool veteran, I’d have to agree with your advice! It’s spot on!!
Thank you so much!! 💓

Oh my goodness, yes!!! I agree so much! ♥️
Reverse planning is my fave! I always have way more planned than we even get done and I'd be erasing anyway so it works great to do it this way!

Reverse planning is the BEST
It really is!! 🙌

Yes!!! It is such a wonderful way to keep tabs on progress through the year!
Great tips!
Just curious….when do you fit in cleaning and other home duties? Do you try to do it during school hours or after?

I do all of these as well! ❤
🥰🥰🥰

You CAN do it!!! If I can, you can! 🥰
How would you handle appointments?
I try to schedule them on our fun Fridays so we are more flexible :)
I would love to know how/what you plan for your fun days! Do you wing it or plan ahead?
I am going to try to do better to plan ahead this year, but we have mostly winged it in the past!
I am about to start our journey. I have 7, 6, 4, 1, and pregnant. Not sure how I am going to do this with toddler and baby 😳

Great advice and great attitude about all of it! Thank you for sharing your experience and wisdom in such a positive and humble manner. 🩷
