Thank you for a great tutorial. It was very helpful. I am a show type of person and had hoped to see the machine running. However, I did learn a lot from your video. I am grateful for that. I am new to this type of machine. I bought it for making fabric patches but, am enjoying the other side of it as well.
Got the Cameo for Christmas and picked up the pens the other week. I had all kinds of questions about cutting and sketching on the same paper, and you answered all of them. Thanks so much! Now to go try out my new found knowledge! ;)
Ann if you look at the bottom right hand corner of you Design Studio window you will see a circle that's filled with a rainbow of colors. Click on that circle and it will change your design studio window color. Keep clicking till you get to the color you want. On the new 3.0 version I don't think you have the same color choices but I will check.
You have helped greatly, on how to switch between the pen and cutting. Here's my challenge ; I want to create a picture with the pen, have the pen color in the picture with different colors, do you know how to do that?
LOVE the tutorial. Can you tell me how you got your frames downloaded and saved into your library? I am at a HAULT and cannot figure out how to get my downloaded frames into my Silhouette Cameo program
Love ur video ! I'm wanting to buy this so if I understand correctly the pens are for different colors and can I use any vinyl heat transfers on this machine ? Thanks
Can you tell me if you use the sketch pens to get the color of the design that you are cutting out. I guess I'm saying it right lol.. I'm trying to cut out a popcorn bucket and I used white card stock of course it all came out white. I just got my cameo on yesterday and have not yet mastered it.lol.. please help
Great video thank you so very much! But how do you "sketch" a font without it being an outline? I would like to sketch solid letters. I hope that made sense. TIA!!!
Kess216, I think I understand. You can try filling in the outline, by clicking on the sketch window button and going to fill sketch. Or, for a more handwritten look, you may want to purchase a sketch font like "LW Cursive sketch" or "Sketch Tuesday" form the Silhouette store. Make sure to look at the preview as some of the fonts with sketch after it can still produce a outline effect. Hope that helps.
Could you please tell me how you changed your screen colour to green? I have seen another RUclips video and their's is pink and i cannot work out how you have done this. I would really appreciate this thanks Ann x
hello there! great video. I was wondering though, if you ever have problems with your pens not writing? I have a few in the pack that done write.. or leave spaces on parts of what I am sketching.
Cathy, I don't know of a way to increase the image size in the library, through the Silhouette Software. However, you can try using the magnifier that can usually be found in your computer's accessories tab (mine is under accessibility/ease of use section). If you use the lens setting it will only magnify what your is pointing at. Hope this helps.
am trying to use my new pens but when I select cut it tells me there are no cut lines, theres o where it says to scetch so how do I tell it to scetch. I have a portrait
Pamela, you may need to check a couple of things. First, are you using an SVG file? If so remember that you need to turn the cut lines on after you open the images on your mat. Second, you need to select sketch pens in the cutting window section before click send to silhouette. If your using the latest version of Silhouette Studio 3.3.451, you will find both when you select the cut settings box. Hope I understood your question and that this helps.
my menu is not the same as yours I can't find the sketch pen feature. I am having all sorts of problems with my cameo and customer support stopped answering me emails. I am almost hitting a year with it not working on my mac (silhouette studio) I am now on my husbands windows and when I open the store it gives me a bunch of pop ups saying my computer is infected. I don't know what version this is I am barely using it now but only with an image I got from the Internet because the store won't nor will my library. on my mac the program won't open AT ALL. anyway I figured I try my pens since I've had them for months but nm haven't used them. but the menus aren't the same. should I just put cut ?
You find the setting for sketch pens the same place you would select the paper type. So, instead of vinyl, you would scroll until you see silhouette sketch pen..... don't forget to only turn on what you want it to sketch and "no cut" the rest..... this was a big deal for me learning in this video. i haven't used my pens yet but will in the morning. I am trilled to have found this video. i hope it works for me!!
I'm using the portrait, but from what I've learned the machines work similarly in terms of cutting. The one thing I can tell you is that depending on what type of project you are creating you _can_ use the wrong material! I had this sticker paper that had slits down the backing so it would be easier to peel the sticker apart, _however_, it would end up making the sticker tear off the cutting mat. When you go to "Cut Settings" it'll show you suggestions of materials you can use
+Melinda Holcombe -- I noticed that when I had them stored with the colored cap up, my appeared to skip some. I think this was because the ink was not running towards the tip. I also think that the sketch pens don't carry a lot of ink so if you have used them a bit, they just may be running low. I started to use the pen holder and other pens for more consistent ink output. I don't think it has anything to do with a particular letter.
The pens are very disappointing! As they're ezpensive.& small in size, they have very little ink in them. But I must say they do a nice job of writing.
Love ur video ! I'm wanting to buy this so if I understand correctly the pens are for different colors and can I use any vinyl heat transfers on this machine ? Thanks

You're welcome and I'm glad that it was of some help to you.

My pack was from a couple of years ago, but it looks like now the metallic colors are bronze, gold, silver, copper

THANK YOU!!! I will try that the next time around. This time I printed small enough it still gave off the effect I was hoping for.

OMG THANK YOU!!!!!

ok. I read 2 comments down & you answered my question. thanks! lol
Thank you!
Can you tell me is there any way to zoom on an image in your library? They seem so small and I can't see the detail.

Hey thanks.. I will try that..
how do i fill in the font with color instead of just outlining it

What is the thickness of this pens? .5mm? 0.4mm or lower?
I don't know. And I did a little digging and haven't found the answer yet.

Thankyou i certainly will give this ago
0:38 sounded so sad when she said come on let's get started
my sketch pens have started skipping some of the letters do you know why?
+Melinda Holcombe -- I noticed that when I had them stored with the colored cap up, my appeared to skip some. I think this was because the ink was not running towards the tip. Thank you I will try pointing them down and check into the pen holder thanks for your response I learned alot from your video
I guess what I'm saying is im trying to cut it out in color.
I have my volume all the way up and still can't hear you
The pens are very disappointing! As they're ezpensive.& small in size, they have very little ink in them. But I must say they do a nice job of writing.
i read on a Facebook silhouette page that other pens (sharpie?) also fit! way cool.
I bought a pen holder (not sure where from) but it holds all kinds of pens & works great.
too confusing.
huuu too yet you're doing this haas
i have an innovative idea about pen making with a business plan. Are you interested?
Muse :)
aaouuu
Music, ugh.
