For sure, if there was a chicane immediately afterwards, you would have to change how the turn is treated completely (instead, focusing on getting a good entry for the corners)
A lot of your tips I’ve learned from racing in karts but I am the first person to share your content with others because of how well you explain things! Love it man! Keep it up!
Hey mate, just wanted to say thanks for your video explanation on how to induce rotation through trailbraking and remaining on a slight brake pressure throughout the corner, and downshifting at the right moment. All I race is Forza Motorsport 6 with a controller (with no assists) but I was having a lot of trouble understanding why I was losing so much time on longer corners. Those explanations helped me realise how to induce more rotation and in turn brake later, and while I have trouble with consistency due to a lack of force feedback, it is very much working. Just wanted to say thanks for making these videos free!
Fun fact. With the motorbike we often use the 2nd line with the double apex, also called the V-Line. Due to less grip ( for comparison against a car) we are not fast in the corner but have very little weight which means we only gain time in braking and accelerating. So we brake late as f*ck, get the first apex and then go wide (still on the breaks) because of the fast entry. In the middle of the corner we "turn" the bike towards the exit straight and then fullll gasss🥳
it depends on the road after the exit, no? in my understanding, after this corner in spa, the straight is relatively short so having a mid/early apex is acceptable whereas a later apex would be slower.
Red one is the best ...short corners are usually the hardest to nail consistently...blue is also ok but i think its much slower depending on the car...orange is the worst in most situations
Actually a double apex really depends on the corner and if there is a straight afterwards. There are a lot of cases where a double apex is better for speed and consistency because you can just overshoot the corner and apex twice but this needs to be done properly and you're still driving in a line unlike the crooked line seen in this video 😂 It also should be noted that if you need to defend, this is the WORST way to do so 🤣 Edit: Also, the double apex is for HIGH powered cars only. If you are driving something like a miata you should not be double apexing, it does not have the power to do so so it goes to show you that different cars have different lines as well.
What about corners than begin as a 3-4 and become 2. Do u tap the brake mid corner, or u just balancing with throttle, while the braking has already been done by entering the 3-4 more slowly?
I have a question they keep saying that the red line is the one the average driver uses which is smooth the blue line “v or box”some say its faster and better for the the tires as u rotate tightly and for short periods plus most of the acc and dcc are with straight tires what do u think of that?
Are you talking about the blipping? You can and probably have it done automatically for you. If you turn it off auto, you have to do a quick pump on the gas as you downshift. If you do it incorrectly, the car wont go into the gear you want. Also not all cars require it. Check the iracing trasmission page to see if the car you drive requires blipping on upshift, downshift, neither, or both.
Depends on the turn and what’s after it. If there’s a straight after the turn I like to turn it a tad later
For sure, if there was a chicane immediately afterwards, you would have to change how the turn is treated completely (instead, focusing on getting a good entry for the corners)
Before I knew it was that turn at Spa I was like orange obvs, deep entry and best exit but then realised it was way too long for that to be fast
Late apex?
I definitely do the orange line. I try to brake late and carry speed along the outside. I’m probably missing the apex by a mile though!
Still go for the red.... because the real short corner is red and long corner is blue..orange is just bad...unless your car has some insane torque

When to turn in?
Simple answer:
Short answer, it depends on the type of corner and what's after it. The entry is as important as the exit.
As important? I thought the exit more important
@@jama211 if you messed up the entry, you won't have a good exit.

I’m loving all these “tips”.
Getting the explanation makes it easier to picture in my empty head 😂
What are your thoughts about Peter Windsor’s short corner theory. He says the fastest drivers have an early apex.
THANK YOU! He says it again and again and I never fully understand EXACTLY what he means by it 😅
Please youtube recommend me more of these
People forget slow in fast out. I always turn in a bit later. Get the fastest exit speed.
Yes, you’re getting through that corner faster, but the yellow line would get you to the NEXT corner faster.
Woah, I’d never have thought the fastest way through meant a double apex, even if it’s only slight. Very cool.
Dude. Thank you. I'm checking out that book.
Definitely depends on the next turn.
A lot depends on whats after the turn. Long straight. Maximise entry speed. Tight 2nd etc.
it depends on the road after the exit, no? in my understanding, after this corner in spa, the straight is relatively short so having a mid/early apex is acceptable whereas a later apex would be slower.
Never thought about doing a double apex on a hairpin
Feel is the best way to know when to turn. That's how I win SIM races.
The only correct line is the line which makes you faster than everyone else.
What an earth shattering comment.
Yeaaa I need to get on my sim this weekend and practice😭
I can tell he’s a good teacher I’m just a little slow
I think you should turn when the track changes direction, but idk im not a racecar driver
What i'm looking for is how to turn at the right time, i keep turning in too early/late
The one thing I learned from this is I’ve played WAY too much Forza
❤
Instructions unclear, I fell off the mountain at the hairpin.
Makes sense as to why im slow going through parabolica
One important note, not just the corner, know your car. Driving on the racing line may not be the best line for a low-downforce car.
i ride the outside of that turn and carry major
speed but maybe its down to car setup
Really depends on the car, they are all validate
I feel like I usually have a blue line but I never really noticed this until he pointed it ouu
Red one is the best ...short corners are usually the hardest to nail consistently...blue is also ok but i think its much slower depending on the car...orange is the worst in most situations
Sometimes i do weird stuff like go far left then turn kinda like a backwards 7
Downhill corner, naturally have understeer. Turning in early all day long
Can you do that book a little bit cheaper becuase i don’t have 100 dollars to by that book. plz 😊
The book never coming out 💀
Instructions unclear: I'm crashing into the wall when the straight starts because you said just turn earlier
Meanwhile Schumacher sliding the rear mid-turn to get better exit speed
honestly, i just turn in when i feel like its the right time to turn in
You are honest.
Is it consistent?
@@ImInTheMaking yeah, most of the time im pretty consistant with this style of driving, my only downfall with it is forgetting about tire wear tbh
is this corner Spa's Rivage?
Not the full picture, to many variables including driver style, car setup and whats after the bend
Schumacher driving style is kinda like the blue line

basically, whatever gets you a faster exit speed
Use the Red Line: Proceeds to still double apex the corner 😂

Those kinda corners are my entire simracing career. I'm an oval driver.
So, is the goal then to create an ideal double apex for turn this size?
Jessie i am willing to enter the corner at mach 1 Jessie.
If you cant decide, you always have the sand there 😉
Orange line in GT cars for me
So what if you use the orange line and get on the power earlier so the car moves to the outside on the exit
Where and how do I get the book?
Ofcourse you have a book 😅
I notice I turn in far too early on many corners, does anybody have tips on how to get out of the habit?
training
@@deadbeef576 bruh.
Bro that second one is Verstappen racing line

Michael Schumacher and Max Verstappen drive that way, and they are the fastest drivers, so I would drive like that.

Aiming for beginning of october :)
@@SuellioAlmeida ahh sweet. Looking forward to it :)
Will the book be on audible?
Not right away but I plan to do it!
Did you mean to say the longer the corner the later you should turn at the end?
No, the earlier
@@SuellioAlmeida I did not understand this passage either. Why should I turn in sooner on a longer curve? In earlier means out earlier.
but you say earlier makes it a double apex and not use rotation / exit@@SuellioAlmeida
@@tomb.4171 In earlier means out LATER, actually, since you'll have time to reach the inside two times (double-apex)
@@danielwolfe4169 yeah but that was TOO aggressive double apex, the ideal line was still a more subtle double-apex
is this just for high DF cars or low DF cars included?
all cars

why you not inf1
Lol off what he said in this vid I wouldn’t trust a single word in that book, the red line is definitely NOT the right line to take here
