Wet the floor before you grind and it won’t be as dusty! Also, always do the floors last. Just cover it up with some plastic when you plaster and paint the drywall, because that floor is going to be gorgeous and I’d hate to see you have to do the polishing and sealing twice. Also, the Losty and Rooney prints are my favorite!! 🥰💚
Yes it is our memory floor. And back then it was Rooney and Toffey prints- the OGs 🤣 Lost didn't exist then, but I have no doubt that she has left her mark in the kitchen floor 😊
Footprints happened by accident, impossible to keep nosey animals off a newly screed floor. Also worth considering as tiling allowance for the grant is minimal 🙄
Awesome job Claire I’ve done a awful lot of grinding concrete in my day and it’s not pleasant but you done an awesome job 👍👍I’d hire you anytime congrats ☘️☘️☘️
Awww thanks Ray. I love doing it the once.... dont think I could manage it again after this house, we were joking if we ever did another house we would just pour a self leveling microcement... thats more my job lol
And no, Clare does NOT look like a ninja! Lol! Don’t worry about the bottom edges of the drywall Clare, I’m betting Rob will be putting in baseboards that’ll cover it up and make it look finished. It turned out absolutely stunning, I love it!! 🥰 ❤
@@WestCorkWander I really admire your work ethic ! I’m stripping back 30 years of paint off woodwork and it’s driving me crazy lol I’d taken a break from it but you’ve motivated me to get my ass in check and get it finished 😂
Your floor looks fabulous Clair! I know I haven't told you before but I love your channel, I have not missed an episode. (Oh, and much admiration as well). Love and apprecation from Idaho!
Wow! Even with the editing you can tell that was a MAMMOTH TASK, but it looks GREAT! If that's the best 'rant' you can manage whilst 'affected' by sealant fumes you must have a really gentle soul lol? Yis are such a great / complimentary team, but I do feel Rob's pain when it comes to tidying away tools - It's a fine balance. My wife is the very same. Without her any work I do would quickly be a cluttered disaster site, but sometimes (just sometimes lol) she'll tidy away just the yoke I need to somewhere I can't find it, but you can't let your head get wrecked 'cause you know that if it wasn't tidied you'd be BURIED in mess and the whole thing would grind to a halt lo!! It's great to see the channel growing, and I look forward to more great content. Thank you.
Haha we constantly have the "can not find it" issue daily. I blame him, he blames me, and in the end it's found somewhere I known to us both🤣 It was a mammoth task but doable room by room thankfully. Thank you Again for your support 🙂
Yep resin could be cool, Rob was thinking white cement but will look into it!! 👠 Are good to beat in mind, fairly infrequent in our place, but you never know what rob will get up to once he hits mid life crisis 😂😂
Aww thanks, you know we pay way more attention to what our community think we should do on our house, than we probably should, but it's lovely to feel the communities touch in our place and we're glad you came around to the concrete 🥰
Well done you, that was some hard graft there. It looks soo good though, love the stone colour showing through. Looking forward to the other floors too…because did you put some bits of glass in those when you did them? Or am I making that up? lol Love the paw prints, makes it that much more special. ❤
Love the paw prints ❤ & you did an incredible job on that floor. Watch out for your back when doing those big, heavy jobs. You may not notice it now but you could damage your lwr back. Would definitely advise hiring machines for any other areas. What are your plans for the old gable wall on your room? Do you also need to grind & seal that?
Good tips thanks!! Generally we don't want to change much about the old house. At the moment we're thinking to white wash it and leave it. We do wander if it would be nice to clean it back and repoint, well see
Jesus, Clare, you are going to destroy your lungs, and you'll have to buy an new grinder soon. The hire floor grinder would save so much money and pain. Your floor will look amazing, applying the slurry can be much easier using a squeege, it will follow the shape of the floor and make the polishing much easier, still savage work.
Working with a P3 mask, so very well protected, however yes it is a task and a half which probably could be done in half the time for a couple of grand with a rental. But look we have to be money conscious now, and with a lot of digging left to do outside for our electric, water, septic upgrade, I'm afraid it's not high on the list. So for now I will grind which is not too bad when you are organized with the gear, dust sheets, etc etc. Not looking forward to the kitchen area though😔

I love the memory footprints in the concrete. Maybe I'll do the same with all our animals. ❤😂 It looks great guys. Well done.

I love the cat paw prints, that’s unique. Of course I love cats! 😊 Great job on the floor.
Yes someone here called it a memory floor, and that is exactly it 😊
Awesome job Claire I’ve done a awful lot of grinding concrete in my day and it’s not pleasant but you done an awesome job 👍👍I’d hire you anytime congrats ☘️☘️☘️

OMG Clare, you are a rock star! You must be so proud of all your work on the floor. Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦
Yes I am! I'll look back in my 70s and shiver thinking about what we did 😂
Wow well done Clare, looks great - I never imagined concrete could be polished up to that finish. Worth all the hard work! Kx
Yes worth the slog, thanks Kate 😊

You are right the bottom edge of the drywall will but a Rob problem for later 🤣
Amazing job Clare ! The floor looks fantastic well done! 😊
We are thrilled with it, worth the effort April 😊

Oh thank you! It's wonderful to hear from you, happy to know you are enjoying our struggles, don't be a stranger 🥰
That was really hard work, and the results are brilliant!
Thank you! Cheers! 🍾
I guessed Clare’s mystery secret project right! Tough work Clare but I’m not surprised that you made it come out so good. ✌️💚
You were correct Trish! It was some secret task alright, hopefully worth it down the line 😜

I'd use resin to fill the paw prints to remember the pets maybe a tiny name tag for the future.
Yes I think that is a great idea for my memory prints! Thanks for watching 🙂
Your bedroom floor is beautiful, but what a major effort to get it to look so good. Well done
Big effort, but doable and very rewarding at the end 😊
Claire the ninja machine at it again I love you guys take care be safe.❤❤
Awww thanks, we will have a great weekend! We joked we hadn't heard a reference to Machine in a while, made our day!
Great progress! The floor looks great!
Glad you like it! It was great to show what can be done with DIY
WOW, what a woman, amazing job. It looks fantastic.
Thank you so much! It was something we wanted to try, happy we did!
🎉🎉🎉🎉 Looks great.
Thanks, we love it!
Such a hard worker!!!! Love the Memory Floor!!!!
Aww thanks, it'll be one to remember for sure!!
It will be fab you could put resin in the paw prints and add a bit of colour 😊 it wont be long and you will be in ❤️
I think so too. Would look fab and possibly not a potential trip hazard, especially for those who wear heels.😊. Great work Clare.
Yep resin could be cool, Rob was thinking white cement but will look into it!!

Wow what a superstar you are Clare, love the memory paw prints
Yeah lovely to embrace the imperfections in life 🥰
❤ a very good job well done. ❤😊
Thank you so much 😊
Maybe if you lay the Hoover pipe, next to the drill while sanding, that will help🤷🏼♀️
Great idea thanks, I'll give that a go next!
Wasn't sure I'd like the polished floor in the bedroom ( even though it's your house and can do whatever you want, lol).
BUT.... it looks Great 👍

Geez, you need a vacuum attachment for the grinder. Tools are really needed.....I hurt for you guys dealing with what you have!
I might try attaching a vacuum when I do the next room. Honestly it is not that bad. I have a P3 respirator so a labour of love really 🙂
Yup, you worked your bum off°😅😅
