This version is pretty great
But MAN, his cadence on the studio version is ABSOLUTELY unparalleled....
I like this version better than the studio version, better guitar solo by Glenn (than the studio version) imo

@trugvej Gull has finally agreed to release the rights to those first 2 albums and remastering of both is in the pipeline and a full-on 50th Anniversary edition of Rock'n'Rolla.
I know I'll be getting a remastered Sad Wings on vinyl when they hit later this year.
This was their first TV appearance, and apparently they were scared shitless.

The lower end of his range is still beautiful, he is now 70 and packed in drink and drugs about 30 years ago! He sang this way without any vocal tuition and has been doing so for the last 50 years. He is still a power house, yes his voice has changed but obviously lung capacity changes between the ages of 30 and 70!
I agree with you 100%. I also didn't care for the douchy comment he made about Robert Halford's voice as it is now. he is still a POWERHOUSE!
Loved your face when Rob hit that first high note. I’ve been listening to this since I was 12 in 1977. It’s actually called Dreamer,, Dreamer Deceiver. Dreamer being the first mellow part and Dreamer Drceiver when they start rocking out. Good vid guy. 👍
This (the studio version) is Judas Priest’s best song for me. No other band has been able to replicate this version of Priest in innovation, composition, imagination, maturity, and vocal performance. It’s a super treasured version of music where psychedelic poetry briefly flirted with modern metal.
You should check their RUN OF THE MILL song (no live version unfortunatelly) from their very first album, Rocka Rolla.

No ... he continues to produce this style of song to this day. His voice became thicker and lower as time went by but you can catch another sim on "Beyond The Realms of Death"

You have got to do Run of the Mill by Priest..
They were ordered by OGWT to try to "tame it down". Not allowed to go as heavy as the song really required, decreased gain on the amps, OGWT even forced Glen to hang a piece of carpet over the front of his speaker cab. And yet this version STILL f--king slaps SO DAMN HARD!

Also available on RUclips is their 1978 Tokyo performance of Beyond the Realms of Death. It's from 1977 or 1978 and it sounds so good you can't quite believe it's live but it is. Rob Bowie's early 70d look. His voice is just ungodly beautiful there and the guitar solos are equally amazing.

Priest has been my favorite band for over 40 yrs. Rob is amazing. The early years to today dude is a legend. He was born to sing and entertain so many over the years. Metal legend. In the early years Priest was finding their sound. When Disco and punk was new fads Priest was developing a metal sound that defined them. Priest rules!

My favorite JP track of all time. Back in 73-74 was I was starting high school I was fortunate enough to have had a friend who turned me onto the priest.
That high register he hits always seemed to me to sound sort of demonic, or my sense of what demons might sound like. Which I thought was perfect for a band calling themselves Judas Priest and looking satanic. So I guess in my version of hell they'd all be speaking in E5. I'm still learning something new every day. :-)
How the hippies were, or thought that the things they were doing affected things around them (Dreamer Deceiver), but to find out that nothing has changed, and everything they did was for naught. (Deceiver)

Listen to the original version then tell me something else I already know. I also usually sing high harmonies to Rob's vocal parts. I don't call it screaming to me I've always been able to sing like Rob but more like his earlier voice.. 😊

This version is one tenth the studio version is, probably less.
Your timestamp 21:23 right at the last of Rob's finale, at least one guitar and maybe bass played a mistake that detracts from his vocals. Compared to the studio version, that part in this version triggers me.

This is what i like about this. The fact that the playing and singing are almost a perfect match. I absolutely hate bands that have great singer and players. But they sound like there doing a different songs.
Literally no band has that...I could agree that some bands are great with a mediocre singer and vice versa.
