A lot of people claim that Beastars is all about allegory. That it's about discrimination, segregation and more. That it's "Zootopia done right". While you can interpret it in many ways, Beastars is really just all about the exploration of this concept: "What if animals evolved to live in a human-like society." And it's explored by some of the most relatable character drama I've ever read/seen. "This idea of animals instead of humans isn't just for aesthetics or fetishism, but rather a genuine element of writing Itagaki fully commits to." I've been looking for a way to explain my furry and non-furry friends alike that Beastars is not furry at all. And this sentence just sums it up so nicely.
Agreed. It's ability to explore the ideas without applying incompatible metaphors of our prejudices allows it to explore those ideas more thoroughly and meaningfully. I've found myself relating to characters as both a black person and a man, but because it never tries to do something like equate Carnivores to Black people, that relatability is never tainted with the harmful implications of that metaphor being intentional. It's just a relatable element of the experience, deepening the connection I have with it.
"I've been looking for a way to explain my furry and non-furry friends alike that Beastars is not furry at all." "furry" doesn't have to be about aesthetics or fetishism. Some of my favourite furry stuff is based on the ways animals behave and interact with each other in nature translated to human societies, or an allegory of it. For example "Oren's forge" is a really good furry webcomic that's similar to Beastars in many ways (though the setting is based on a stone-age tribal society rather than a school in a modern city), and is driven by the predator-prey relationships between characters. Beastars is a story about anthropomorphic animals, so it's furry, objectively, but liking something furry doesn't automatically make you a member of the online furry fandom community, or mean that you must like other furry stuff. This should be obvious, but apparently isn't. Arguing that it's not furry because it's different to other furry stuff is basically equivalent to arguing that it's not anime because it's different to other anime.

Me: I’m not a furry .......... BUT
Beastars: exist
Every one: Hmm smells like *FuRrY sHiT* to me
Vivimos en una sociedad - El Bromas
8:00 you know what? ambiguity is the lifeblood of art. What happens when you get unambiguous, safe, predictable, realism? You get something that's boring. You get something that, for all its effort may as well not exist.
But what happens when you obscure that? You make it ambiguous, you shift it, you put a spin on it... well then, then that's art. In all aspects, this seems to be true.
More beastars content pls I love this
personally i got feelings of fear mongering with that train scene when legosi ran after haru and everyone assumed he was a predator
Well, I guess I have to watch Beastars now
Have fun turning into a furry
Did people just miraculously forget about zootopia?
It's a bunch of stuff, conquering your instincts, defining love an lust, and defying expectation. It's great.
let's just remember that beastars is close to deep and heartfelt literature.
This video have huge 24 frames of nick energy
Beastars:We live in a society.
I put aside my rational hatred for furries and I got to say this was a pretty damn good show would recommend
Words cannot describe how much I love this thumbnail 😂
okay, RUclips, I’ll watch the show
I describe the beastars universe in one sentence "we live in a society"
If you like beastars I highly recommend blacksad the art is soooooo goooood
And my friends dont even understand why beastars is so irresistable. Like, it just is.
That one time 50% of the anime Community turned into Furry's
I like how despite the fact that anthropomorphic animals have existed in literature and media since forever and people still shy away from media that features them because "eww furries."
It's such an odd phenomena.
@@ABonafideSkeleton Good anime though 10/10
@@ABonafideSkeleton and I'm sure that if there were people leaving diapers in hotels and yiffing in fursuits back then they would have been avoided by anyone else too
@@ihave2cows you talking about rainfurrest? :D

@@ActuallyRocatex Do I have to?
Every animal is gangsta till bambi packs the heat
People need to stop asociating Furries with bad things, and actully realize that Beastars is undeniably Furry, and it's a good damn show, AT THE SAME TIME. Thinking that Beastars is not a Furry show because it's good is like saying, "Oh, this Anime is good, because it doesn't act like an Anime!" Anime that is Anime can be good. Furry Anime that is Furry can be good. Stop denying it.
animal racism
*applause*
Eh technically cucumbers are a fruit, just as all vegetables are,the fruit of their respective plant (I.e. the result of the polenization of said plant's flowers, which resulted in the respective fruit developing).
The majority of vegetables are not fruit. Carrots, onions and potatoes are roots. Broccoli and cauliflower are flowers. Celery is a stem. Spinach is a leaf.
Bill: hi
Legoshi: *DO I SMELL RABET*
Sooo...
Zootopia with more time?
Yes and no. Maybe.
Did anyone else see the thumbnail, laugh, and then watch the video
