- Hundreds of conspiracy theorists have gathered in central London to protest against coronavirus restrictions in the UK as infections worsen.
Scuffles broke out as police moved in on demonstrators in Trafalgar Square, who formed human blockades in an attempt to prevent arrests and forced officers to move back.
Elsewhere, demonstrators advanced on police while shouting “choose your side”.

Protesters “clash” with police? All I saw there was a police officer pushing an Indian man (1 minute 48 seconds). Where exactly is the clash? The police sent in the riot officers for no reason and only to agitate the situation. There was no riot. I was there and there was not hundreds of people there was at least 35,000 maybe even 50,000.

I am not a conspiracy theorist- the pandemic is real- but I find it extremely disturbing that the government (I also include the devolved governments) is dictating almost every action of the people, fining those who do not fall in line with their orders (except the PM's "advisor"). Will they be eager to relinquish this control, or will there be a stream of excuses to enhance the police state?
I have lived though a previous pandemic (Asian 'flu) which was just as serious (I was hospitalized) but there was none of this lockdown nonsense and having to wear masks everywhere. People got on with living their lives.

I was there from noon till about half past one. I moved around and chatted to people (when it was quiet enough!) and they seemed to me to be an average cross-section of concerned citizens. Certainly there were a few conspiracy-theory placards and leaflets getting handed out, but obviously they stand out from the crowd simply because they're the ones carrying placards. As before, on 29 August, no news hounds or television news crews were there. If they were I certainly didn't see them. I suppose it's just another demo to them, not worth serious coverage, just get a clip of a few oddballs with placards and forget it.
