    It's horrible for people to say that those who jumped committed suicide. None of those people wanted to die. Also many of the victims were religious so that claim would be especially difficult for them to deal with. It's the same as the jumpers on 9/11.
    I'm so sorry to this family for their loss.

      So these immigrants, poor Brits and refugees deserved to be burnt alive because of the failure of the system? Because they are poor? Because they are displaced?
      The native Brits great grand parents and grandparents were looters, scrounged the world and stole their wealth. Their offsprings are relishing the loots and creating wars and selling arms to keep their elite masters rich. Unfortunately the imbecile working class is delirious with a notion that the country was just fortunate, they are God's chosen ones! Bulldhits! They are stupid then and they are stupid now.
      With the blessing of keyboards all GCSE failing idiots turned into haters. Educate yourself, learn about wthe worldand science you idiots!

      It is inevitable that you will be old meaning you will join another vulnerable group who will need taxpayer funded geriatric care, nursing home, nurses all funded by the well to do young healthy ones. What if they say, you should die because you are a burden to them?
      There are many reasons people emigrate, Brits emigrate to Spain, Germany for the better benefit system. Your grandparents if they are here in this country for six generations scrounged other countries and stole their wealth, that is one of. The reason they are poor. It is your country which corrupts others African, Asian, middle eastern countries to steal their wealth. Do you think, Britain is a divine nation who gives away donations to poor countries? Really? They give one pound and sucks out £100 for them. I am saying not from watching RUclips, but through my experience.
      Karma is very unforgiving, tomorrow you may be on the receiving end and a world without empathy is the world owned by the Devil. Chose wisely. Every hateful word has an effect and creates a reality which often will come to haunt you.

    Just proves to me even more. If in a burning building. Grab some wet towels, as many as you can carry. Cover your nose and mouth and start down the stairs. No matter WHAT you're told to do on the phone from emergency rescue. If you die on the stairs atleast you made a try for it. Don't sit there and die because you thought someone was coming to save you. It's just crimminal to tell people in a building housing that many human beings that the fire brigade will save you when the whole building has gone up in 15 mins. and those that were told to wait. I am sorry for you. So sorry. I hope you all rest in peace. As for the asses that OK'd that cladding to be put on the building, the no fire alarms in any of the apartments, and no kind of sprinkler system, nor any kind of fire proof stair well. SHAME ON YOU. Weren't those things kind of more important then how the damn building looked to your eyes as you passed it every day to your cooshy job from your expensive house that would never have the encased in a material that would cost you your life in 10 mins?

I do not agree with the suggestion that your father was a suicide, nor should either of you allow this outrageous determination by this official. I am humbled by your strength and amazing determination it took in order to save your mother.
      I will never will be able to express my depth of sorrow for the grief you both are enduring or the love I send to you both as one person to another. I was at the World Trade Centre on 9/11, on the Plaza as the first plane struck the North Tower, where I was going to a breakfast meeting at Windows of the World. I remained there through the entire nightmare, and remained to provide any assistance for rescue and recovery of body parts as I noticed the Emergency Vehicles were empty and untouched, which meant that so many ambulatory staff and members of the Fire Brigade remained inside the Towers. I lost 7 good friends on that day, and I still look at you with so much emotion. You have touched me so deeply.
      I'm a modest man struck by disabilities that are genetic and extremely rare, but if there is anything that I can do for you please do not hesitate to contact me. Please stay strong for each other.

    six years later and it's still so unimaginably soul-shattering. I can only assume the other residents heard the news helicopters or saw them from the windows and assumed it was part of the rescue effort and not camera crews just... circling like vultures, waiting for them to die as part of the spectacle. I can't believe we're only just now getting to the part of the investigation where we find out whose fault this is. Real human beings made the choice to sacrifice everyone's safety to save a handful of pounds when they HAD A BUDGET SURPLUS, and they have yet to see any consequences from killing more than 70 people. I don't understand why an investigation couldn't be launched into both the fire's spread and the bureaucratic side of things simultaneously. There's not too much overlap there. You could easily have figured out who was responsible for which things such that when the engineers agree "this is how the fire got so bad", we have a handy list of everyone who was involved in the incorporation of whatever element exacerbated the hazard. But no, it got put off until just now. Feels like justice will never be served.

    I really felt emotional watching this. i would like to try and ask the Mother and son if they would ever like to visit Canada? I just really cannot imagine what they endured and their loss, but maybe I can help them a little bit by showing them another country for a visit? The love the Mom and Son have for each other is so clear. it is very special. please take care, if you read this and accept my true human support for you. peace

    My eyes teared up when he said his dad died while helping others. I’m so upset the fact that even 9 months later people are homeless, didnt May say that within 3 weeks all the people who suffered through the fire were gonna be re housed? I’m also sad that they still say 71 people died. Isn’t it obvious hundreds and hundreds of people died?

    It was like a horrendous nightmare just hearing LBC Radio that night...I awoke at about 1am and the radio was saying ''they have closed the Westway because of 'people watching'...I thought ''what accident happened on the Westway?''...swittched on Computer and just could not believe what I was seeing. ..and worse, there were reports of residents SAYING that it was a fire risk there...yet nothing was done.

    I tend to avoid the news and reading about world events as much as possible as I am already finding so much difficulty in handling my past traumas and present life that I don't think I can handle hearing any more gut wrenching stories to further torture me at night. I'm not sure how I ended up on this particular story, but it's the first I'm hearing of it. I am so incredibly sorry for those that lost their loved ones. The path forward may be the hardest one you've ever walked, but I hope you can one day find some sort of peace. You may never be whole again, but one day, if only for a brief moment, you will be able to smile instead of cry when you think of the person you lost. I'd be lying if I said the pain of your loss will end...because it won't. You'll just get better at dealing with the hurt.
    Today I send a bit of love from my own broken heart out to those in desperate need of consolation. You will make it through this and the story of your life isn't over just yet. Just keep going.
    You're never alone.

    I lost someone very dear to me in horrible circumstances, and Flora's stories about expecting to see him everywhere felt exactly as I felt. It feels unreal and impossible to accept. The stories of our lives depend on certain people being there. My heart goes out to her. A new normal will emerge, with more loneliness than the old normal, but it will feel normal again, and there will be joy again, lots of it. She has a handsome son who might give her grandchildren someday :)

    This report really helps to bring alive the reality of the smoke and just how difficult it made it to escape. It seems certain now that this situation occurred at least because economies were made is safety standards as well as the cladding. If this was down to a dodgy builder, or some backhanders or greedy developers, that they nail the bastards to the wall for this.

    • @matbroomfield
      @matbroomfield 6 лет назад +3

      Barbara, if this had not been immigrants it would have been single mothers, young British families, or someone else. If as has been suggested, many of these were ILLEGAL immigrants, ending immigration programs would not have stopped them in the first place.
      That said, I wholeheartedly agree that Britain needs to cease mass immigration when our social services are groaning under the weight of British scroungers. Be nice to sort them out too.

    • @barbaragreatb543
      @barbaragreatb543 6 лет назад

      Mat Broomfield Yes I see where you are coming from, but if we close our borders and only allow those who are skilled workers, then we would not have this terrible shortage of housing, Drs. over crowded schools, the NHS stretched to its limit, and probably the tower block would not have also been so overcrowded had we stopped immigration after all, we are only a very small island.

    • @Gavichap
      @Gavichap 3 года назад

      @@barbaragreatb543 Bullshit. Britain has been having housing shortage well before immigration, since the '50s. The problem is estate PRICES, which any sort of speculators have been driving UP for decades, thus pushing poorer people away from cities to ever-expanding suburbs with cheap housing. Grenfell was built in 1974 to address the problem, along with thousands of similar blocks which by no coincidence developed all sorts of problems. Do you remember Ronan Point disaster and Summerland? Was it immigration to blame, hu?

    Could the air pocket have been a fireman mask. I've been watching the enquiry and the reason the fire spread is because of the cladding and how it was assembled to the exterior of Grenfell and the missing fire breaks around the windows as I understand.
    As I understand from Studio E,s testimony, the fire breaks I mention were left off so the different units would fit together. It's looking very much like a botched job from those responsible. The council offered Studio E such a low amount that no one could complete with the price and studio E had never designed cladding for a high rise before.
    The inquiry is done in modules which gives plenty of time to each specific scenario so it's quite easy to follow if your genuinely interested.
    In hindsight there may have been fire brigade short falls, but those responsible for this disaterious tragedy happening and that the residents them selves warned about, and which Studio E called one complainer a trouble maker, should be dealt with severely.
    RIP to the victims and strength to their loved ones.

    I've watched several stories of this high rise fire and it is pure shock to find out that many emergency services were missing from this building where many residents lived, no sprinkler systems, no fire extinguishers, no exit signs. Yet residents made the choice to continue living there. When safety isn't put at # 1 disaster prevails soon or later and always claims innocent lives. The owners of the building spent $ making the high rise looking pretty for the rich folks that lived around the building that complained this building was an eye sore for them and it's always about folks with $ that dictate the outcome of others as long as their benefit is put #1. This attitude will never get better as human being history has always been the ones with $ make all the rules because they are the ruling elite. It's great that so many have supported area shelters for the victims of this crime, but having the country of England accountable right up to the Queen needs to be addressed because more folks will continue to live in residential buildings that are not safe without rules that are enforced and checked and rechecked to make sure this change can happen. For the folks looking for a place to call home and live if it were up to me I'd rather live in my car instead of depending on someone else to make sure where I live is safe. Instead of protesting for more laws that will never be implemented because the ruling elite don't want it, invest in yourself with a higher education and degree so you can afford the residential places for rent that are safe. And never take anyone else's word for safety. Find out. Ask questions. Lots of them!

It’s ridiculous how there were no sprinklers, anything that could stop the fire, and look at the fire blanket in Grenfell it was so tiny it wasn’t able to stop it.

    Im not suggesting that fire brigade told them to go up But They had been told to stay and wait for recuse and they cud see there was no way to goin down and there being helicopter flying near the tower you can how they came to the conclusion. It was probably people's hope and panic that lead them to believe it. The sheer panic of being faced with your death makes it harder to think clearly. It's all so sad.

    A good report, but I take issue with the suicide comment.
    People did not jump because they had a will or intent to die.
    Escaping choking or burning to death and it's prolonged, excruciating suffering is the only reason. It's an act of self-care and preservation, not destruction. So these courageous folks took control over their lives.
    They did not commit suicide.
    They made A CHOICE.
    Not because they felt self-destructive, as described below. Not because they intended to die that day, or even in that moment.
    R.I.P 🖤
    _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
    Suicide is death caused by injuring oneself with the intent to die.
    - C.D.C
    The intentional taking of one's own life. Destruction of one's own interests or prospects.

    I live in Britain and saw smoke from quite a far area from Grenfell at 3AM when I was going to bed, I go to bed quite late. When I was closing my windows I could see so much smoke, but it was far away. I couldn’t smell it but I could see it. It was a very bad thing. My friend that lived very near Grenfell said to me, “I could smell it so bad I couldn’t sleep. I saw people at the ground of the fire, most were very badly injured or breathing heavily”. R.I.P 72 People what died from the Grenfell Fire, the ones that burned alive or couldn’t breathe. Don’t know how they are still living somewhere after their home was engulfed with flames.

    People need to know which buildings around world that are covered with ACM cladding. It’s been used in thousand and thousands of buildings. Fires that have occurred in buildings with ACM cladding have spread similar,
    quickly climbing up the outside surface. It’s incredible that companies would continue to manufacture cladding that’s highly flammable for building manufacturing knowing that fires would spread as if someone was using gasoline on the outside. The design and material used for cladding I think we will see more fires with similar devastation unless steps are taken to correct the cladding
