Im not saying there was no victim blaming, but we saw the video before the bodycam. We saw what happened but the cop didn't, maybe he didn't hear the guy saying they were driving the first time because cars were driving by on the road. The cop just got there, he's trying to figure out what happened, he wasn't watching the livestream, he has two people with their own version of what happened. Cops don't have a third eye that allows them to know the truth, he heard the guy say he pulled her hair and anyone rational would have said he shouldn't have done that. Telling someone they shouldn't have escalated a situation is not the same as telling them the other person was in the right. IN EVERY other circumstances asking someone why they didn't just walk away would be 100% justified. Don't pretend you've never asked a dumb question under stress, its a part of being human.

I had the police victim blame me when I had a stalker (he eventually went to prison for it) , he was insane. The police kept questioning me as if I’m the one who caused it asking if I’ve dated him or said anything to lead him on, I didn’t even know the guy. Ridiculous I was so furious had to deal with him stalking me for months before he finally got arrested.
It's this "captain save a hoe" attitude that' puts men in a state of castration. Never using any sense of reason and resolves everything with feelings.
They probably see 50x more men attacking women calls so they make assumptions. It isn't the end of the world. All he said was use another option if you have it, which is good advice.

The best thing about phones is the camera they tell us what's really going on besides the word of mouth. Phone cameras give us reality and the evidence.
To be fair to the officer who was talking to the man, it seems like the information they had when they rolled up on the scene came from two men who reported a woman run frantically out of the car and hide inside a van for help, probably saying he was going to kill her because she mentioned that she thought he would kill her. The officer wouldn't have seen the footage yet and the man didn't do the best job of explaining what happened, that she was the one driving, that she was the one who initiated the confrontation etc. He did explain that she was hitting and punching him and that he then pulled her hair, but they also probably hear people downplay their own part in domestic abuse cases all the time. They really should be assuming everyone is innocent until proven guilty, but they also have to worry about their own safety and the safety of passersby, so they have to be ready for violence at a moment's notice. With the information available, I can see why that officer reacted the way he did.

To be fair to the officer who was talking to the man, it seems like the information they had when they rolled up on the scene came from two men who reported a woman run frantically out of the car and hide inside a van for help, probably saying he was going to kill her because she mentioned that she thought he would kill her. The officer wouldn't have seen the footage yet and the man didn't do the best job of explaining what happened, that she was the one driving, that she was the one who initiated the confrontation etc. He did explain that she was hitting and punching him and that he then pulled her hair, but they also probably hear people downplay their own part in domestic abuse cases all the time.
They really should be assuming everyone is innocent until proven guilty, but they also have to worry about their own safety and the safety of passersby, so they have to be ready for violence at a moment's notice. With the information available, I can see why that officer reacted the way he did.

I was legit stalked,ike scary stalked, by a woman for about 4 years. I gave up trying to involve police. One time when she was waiting at my door at like 2am i had the police show up. She was gone when they got there, but i told them my story, and they FUCKING LAUGHED AT ME. two dudes. Just sitting in front if my hiuse and fucking laughing at my very real real real trauma and problem that i had absolutely zero grasp of how to deal with it. MEN HAVE ZERO RESOURCES with shit kije this. I eas looking up mens only resources, and they literally JUST DONT FUCKING EXIST. one time some men tried to make a mens only shelter type thing inthink in the UK, and FUCKING FEMINISTS PROTESTED IT. i will never not speak out about my horribke injustice to me jist because im a fucking man, and i should "just deal with it" as if inknew hiw to or was capable of it. LET MEN HAVE MENS ONLY SPACES AND SUPPORT RESOURCES. PERIOD. THE WORLD NEEDS IT.

Technically he isn't wrong. In the video he never once yells at her to stop the car so he could get out and instead he just insults and threatens violence to her in return. He didnt try to deescalate or remove himself from the situation, which is what a normal person would do in a violent situation. They are both in the wrong, but obviously she is the aggressor.

That cop was wrong for jumping to conclusions and scolding the man before getting the full facts. I guarantee if the roles were reversed, no one would blame the woman for scratching, hitting, or clawing a guy to force him to stop a car so she can flee.
