We have been seeing this nail oil pen for YEARS!!!! I WANT THE CLICKY OIL PEN!!!!
she gave you a like…… girl you might of just done all of us a huge favor with this comment 😭❤
I need it!!
It's been in the works for awhile and it's pretty much confirmed that it's coming out this year. There was a lot of things like suppliers that made this take for ever.
@@sybill123fulmight have*
@@user-df7xe3rt7g shut up !! 🥰🙏🏼
Cristine needs to do a candy corn gradient nail art
Yes! That'd be awesome! 🤍💛🧡
Isn't that how the video started? :^]
@@itscthuwu5125😂😂😂
I think she has back before holotaco in the nail art days
No, her default nails are already a candy corn gradient😂
I used to not like painting my nails because they were short and it would chip in like two days. But now that I use Holo Taco and have good technique, they last for almost 2 weeks and my nails are so long. I didn’t realize nail polish can protect your nails from breaking until Simply. It’s pretty much been an upward spiral of joy. 🥳
I use Holo Taco too, but on the nails that are so flimsy that they fold: the polish literally cracks along the bend line and flakes off the tip of the nail. The rest of the polish is fine and long lasting, but a few of my nails are genuinely just hopeless
@@minagica dang I can imagine what you’re saying. Have you tried taking biotin or other vitamins? And have you tried doing like 4-5 coats of color?
@@minagicaI recommend using nail strengther. My natural nails are so thin and flimsy that if there are any free edge, it would literally fold and tear off like perforated paper. My manicures would always chip after 2-3 days. It's gotten much better after using nail strengther consistently (I use Mavala), and jojoba oil. My manicures last almost a week now since my nails no longer fold.
Wow even regular polish?
@@thebeigesheep6132 yes. I do one thiccccc layer of glossy taco. And a couple touch ups here and there. With more taco
TYSM for mentioning that humidity matters! I know it matters with a lot of things but as a Floridian just learning to take care of my nails, I was so frustrated! I was wondering why it would take many hours to do my nails and still not end up ever fully drying. I was starting to think it was just me, but with some new products and following your steps, it's gotten significantly better!
Yes!! I used to be in South Carolina and my nails are so much better since I left lmao
I just moved to a very humid country and it’s been such an adjustment. Painting my nails has been a nightmare, however, the dollar store sells nail air dryers that have been a life saver for me. At first it seemed silly but now it’s a part of the routine. Highly recommend having a little lamp at your side. It’s like a gel lamp without the light cancer 😂
I learned that the reason my nail polish was never drying was because I was not using a topcoat as soon as I started using a topcoat. My nails are dry like super fast.
I am going to be THAT person and recommend another RUclipsr (in addition to Cristine) who focuses on natural nail care and maintenance, TheSalonLife. Anna does a great job at not only explaining the anatomy of the nail, but offers up a variety of recommendations and solutions for various nail concerns. For anybody wanting to continue learning more about how to maintain healthy nails, I'd add her channel to your subscription list.
ANYWAY THANK YOU CRISTINE for teaching us peasants on how to do our nails and keep the nail polish on 💖
YES! I just discovered her and I love her content, especially the gentle manicures! But Simply was the first love... :D
Do they have pedicure tips, because my feet need serious help and I feel they are harder :(
@@peacendpola23 Anna gives advice/tutorials for pedicures, too! Her content is amazing.
"Look within, the problem is you" 😂😂😂 This is just a great PSA, I'd wear it on a sweatshirt.
Before watching this but obviously after seeing the title, I must say that my polish has ALWAYS chipped within days, no matter what base & top coats I've used. I've watched Cristina for years but haven't ever bought anything. After seeing Spirit Fingers, I decided to treat myself to it, the long lasting base & taco. I've had my polish on for just over a MONTH now without a single chip! My nails still look like I just painted them!!
Also, a cheap vortex mixer ($30-50, I use a vevor) is a HUGELY helpful investment if you have more than a few polishes and tend to let them sit between uses. Many polishes won't even need thinner if you use the vortex mixer, but it ALSO mixes the thinner into the polish faster and better, and saves a lot of hand/arm strain. It pays for itself by saving polishes that would otherwise be unusable. Most will be usable in less than a minute, the worst one I did was a glitter that was just about solid and I just kept adding thinner and vortex mixing every time I did my nails for a few weeks and by the third week it was fluid again.
Also, the vortex mixer significantly improves the payoff of magnetics by resuspending the heavy pigments.
If you only have like five or ten polishes and tend to use them up, probably not needed. If you have more than 20 polishes and change it up a lot, the vortex mixer will save you. If you do a lot nail art and have hundreds of polishes, it's essential.
Which vortex mixer do you use? I’ve never heard of this but it makes so much sense!!
What a good idea, thanks! I have quite the nail polish collection, gathered over years, and I get tired of shaking them back up to decency for nail art.
You’ve probably saved my sanity with this comment 😂 thank you!!
I always have issues with the same exact nail every single time. My other nails will last 10-14 days no problem. But my index finger after 3 days just pops off the polish like I’m wearing a peel off base coat 😩 I’ve tried everything. Just accepting that my nail is a nudist and must respect it’s life choices
Try drying out your nail bed! I made peelie base last five days like that! But only do this right before application then after painting oil the underside of your nail so you don’t cause them to snap
I have this same problem. my whole index finger will chip and peel off and the rest are fine. I just repaint the index finger two or three times while the rest are fine.
@@hannahc7950 I do 😔 I use acetone to clean off my nail plate before I apply any polish. I don’t paint within 8 hours of getting my nails wet either
"just accepting that my nail is a nudist and must respect it’s life choices" HAHAHA i love that
Ik for me it depends on base coasts. Rn i go without cause the ones irl peel off and im waiting for my order
the cuticle lesson was NEEDED every time i had my nails done they applied so much pressure i would be bleeding
Okay. It turns out that even though I was doing everything right, EXCEPT not cleaning up when I flooded my cuticle, actually made a huge difference.
I have gone 2 whole days without popping a single polish.
Mother is right😅😅😅
I have a glass nail file that is 18-20 years old, and it's still as good as it was the day I bought it!
Okay, I'll invest in one!
Glad to know that Simply uses nail polish thinner. I've always been unsure if putting polish thinner is a good thing or just ruin the quality of the polish. 😅
You just have to use the right thinner. I use the OPI with my Holi Tacos
Practice makes progress. Perfection is unattainable. But progress is measurable and awesome!
About 9:36 I got a period pad commercial and I wasn’t looking so I just hear “If you’re using a glass or crystal nail file-ARE YOU STILL WEARING BULKY PADS??”
😂
You’re like “Excuse me??”
i was a chronic nail biter until i started painting them last year and they look SO much healthier! they're stronger than they ever have been and i manage to keep polish on for about 2 weeks before they start chipping now 🎉
My partner has finally managed to give up his nail-biting habit now that his are painted, too! He says his nails are too pretty to chew on. 😂🤣
I love how she shows her own products and is like you don't need this or this ❤
Not sure how I ended up here but glad I did. Used to have long beautiful flexible nails I took really good care of. Then I had kids and it was just easier to keep them short and I stopped caring. Now that my children are grown I forgot everything I used to do to take care of my nails when I was younger. This totally refreshed my Mom brain. Empty nest and it’s ok to take care of myself again. Ty ❤. Sometimes the algorithm just knows😂
I'm glad that Cristine is doing what she loves still. Just re visited your channel after a long time, and it's so good to see that even though you don't make videos, your brand is thriving, and so are your streams. And wow, she still does educational nail polish content. Never did we think this would return. Even I learned a thing or two from this, as a long time fan.
I had no idea hang nails were actually treatable. I just thought it was something everyone had to just put up with. Thank you!
my nails have never been this healthy and strong before your tips and tricks, Cristine! also I've never been able to keep my polish on for more than a day without chips and now my nails last 2 weeks with nothing but a little wear on the tips! you and your brand, Holo Taco, have saved my nail game! thank you!
You're lucky. I've done everything here and other places and my nail polish only lasts about 3 days max and start chipping after a few hours. I've given up entirely on having my nails done as I don't have time to spend an hour plus on them twice a week or more.
same! i don't even follow all her tips, so my polish starts chipping after 6-7 days, but it's definetely an improvement (before they would last like 2 days)
Idk if this will work for everyone or if it’s something you’d even want to do but I’ve had awesome results with putting down a layer of builder gel in a bottle first then applying regular nail polish (usually Holo Taco 🥰) on top. For some reason nail polish stays on SO well and literally doesn’t chip. I’m thinking part of it is that the gel is blocking the natural oils from coming through your nails which can cause polish to chip or if your body chemistry just doesn’t like polish it again kind of provides like a barrier. Or maybe nail polish just sticks really well to it, but whatever it is, my nail polish literally won’t chip and will only start to wear on the tips after a week or two. Now of course when your nails grow out but instead of removing the builder gel, I basically just fill it. I find builder gel in a bottle to be pretty easy to work with especially if you’re someone who is already a custom to using nail polish
@@laurac86That’s such an intriguing suggestion! My natural nails flake and chip when I try to give them a break from regular polish -I’ll look into possibly laying down builder gel. 👍🎉💅🏻
When I wrap my nail tips, the wrap is already gone after 2 days... I don't get it :(
I would love to see Holo Taco come out with a thinner designed for their formulas! Since we’ve been around long enough that some of our glitters are getting thick :)
The OPI one works great
anything with ethyl acetate works fine, as that's one of the ingredients in the HT formulas. The one I have is just a no-name brand and it works great.
@MrsLana92 i used one that had that. It got thinner but was still stringy. It was so frustrating. I hope that when they got one its gonna work better
@@AMK650 yeah even with the thinner my glossy tacos are still somewhat stringy. I use those older ones for swatches
Did you guys not see 18:17?!? That’s def a sneak peek for a thinner she’s working on!!
And at 20:38 she says it’s basically being released towards the ends of the year!
I LOVE THIS. I barely missed this stream so I've been aching for the super cut. From life long nail biter to Holo Taco collector, my nail journey has only been about 4 or 5 months now, and OMG I am having so much fun. I'm so proud of myself for finally killing that habit, I knew someday I would make it happen. Took until year 27. Now I have the absolute *joy* of painting my nails and having 10 pretty little things with me at all times! I guess 20, the toes have had more attention by association. 👀 Lucky toes. ☺️ I told myself it was time to become a nail girlie, and I'm happy to say that I learned and have been doing everything mentioned in this video. Nice!! Thanks to you and a few other nail pages, like @thegraytergood , I have dove into this with great tips already in my holster. Pew pew. Pretty nails are here to stay. Thanks for being one of the loveliest creators out there.
Everyone keeps talking about the pen but I have a bunch of pens from amazon that I reuse. I would love just a bottle of nail oil/vitamin mix from Cristine because I know that will be good.
The brazilian technique to apply nail polish is SO different! We tend to flood the nail bed/cuticle area and then just gently scrape it off with a wooden/metal stick. I don't like cutting my cuticles and with this technique, even when there's nail growth, it takes a while for my natural nails to show, because there's usually a bit of nail polish underneath the cuticle. Wrapping the tip, though, I've learned that from you so many years ago and to this day I get comments from people on the fact my nail tips don't chip for the first 10ish days I've had a color on! (Some people do complain about the nail polish under the nail, saying it looks "dirty", but hey, my tips don't chip while theirs do 🤷)
I love how therapeutic this seems for you! Like a return to home on your own terms :)
I love your personal journey, i hope to make progress like you have!
Thank you Jen for your contribution!!!
My nails are also very slightly ridged like Jen's are. It never worried me, especially since it's just my natural structure, and any nail polish smoothes the surface completely. But it's nice to see people who are similar to me.
I recently started getting into doing my nails and damn this was SO helpful! 💝
And yes, invest in a nail polish thinner. It has helped restore so many of my nail polishes all these years.
my problem is that my nails are extremely thin and even with gel polish on i can easily bend them. sooooo wrapping the tip doesn’t work since they’re sharp as knives and the nail polish has every option to lift 😭
and yes i take vitamins. my nails have always been like this, and it’s not because of nail biting because my toes are the same :/
Same! I found CND Sticky base coat keeps polish on a little longer even with my thin, bendy nails 😮
Have you tried a rubber gel base? I just started using it and found that it’s really helped me!
I have the same problem 😢
My nails peel and bend if I'm not consistently using nailtiques
maybe try a gel overlay with builder in a bottle?
I wholeheartedly agree with applying a thicker layer of GT, I think it's because of how fast it dries, using more of it helps delay the drying just enough to complete the required number of sweeps to coat the nail, maybe even fix a little missed bit if you have to. I absolutely love its formula, thank you for bringing it to market!
Omg thanks for the nail polish thinner tip ❤
I never knew about doing that, Ive thown out so much polish 😅
Im sorry I keep correcting you, but Anna from the salon life, did research and found scientific proof that you do not have to file one way. You actually can file back and forth. It has to do with the nail composition. The layers all go different ways and the filing back and forth does not affect them. She always files back and forth on her clients with no issues. Also, a glass nail (and you can file back and forth) file actually seals the nail and will help if you don’t want to file back and forth with a regular file. You have a lot of great information and I’ve learned even more. Thank you. ❤
Anna in the salon life channel, is a licensed nail technician, she says never cut the skin that everyone thinks is the cuticle. It’s really the eponychium, and is live skin and never should be cut. The actual cuticle is the dead skin stuck to your nail which should be gently scraped off to prevent lifting at that point. I highly recommend watching Anna on the salon life as well as this channel. ❤
the 'how to grow your nails longer' video was what introduced me to your channel 5 or 6 years ago, time flies
Great video! I've been following most of these tips for years and my polish lasts a week at a minimum which is perfect because my routine is to change them once a week anyway :) Can't wait for a Holo Taco nail oil pen!!! Easily the best opportunity for improvement I could have :D
The best way to keep your cuticles pushed back is your hand towel. At least once a day when you wash your hands, take a few extra seconds to rub your cuticles back with the dampened areas of the towel.
I LOVE quick dry base. It works so well
I absolutely LOVE your smoothing base coat! I wish I had used it sooner!
Tech Tip : after applying cuticle remover and pushing back cuticles, give nails a little soak and then gently rub cuticle area with your towel when drying. Works like a charm! ✌️❤️💅
This was SUCH a good video! So helpful, and so entertaining!
I get a gallon of acetone from nailite, but I ALSO have an 8 oz bottle from Sally Beauty and I refill it constantly to keep the level near the top so I never have to tip it. Then I ALSO have an acetone squeeze bottle from nailite that I fill and that goes on cotton pads for larger removal.
Okay, so I watch you years and years and years ago, then lost you somehow in the internet and time. I am back and excited to paint my fingernails banana colors. Thank you for going through step by step as somebody who has been gone for a long time
Wow this brings back memories from her other main channel 😭😭 Everything she was teaching, I immediately knew what she was gonna say/do next! Memories..! 😊
This was not only super helpful, but also very entertaining! You are amazing!!
I’ve been doing my nails myself since 2017 and Christine was one of the first people I watched that inspired me to collect polishes. I always get asked if I get my nails professionally done, but I am just so good cleaning up my nails with a brush and acetone afterwards. My prep time before I paint takes about an hour after I finish a base coat 😂😅
can you use a regular paint brush, or is there a specific type you use for nails?
Back in may I binged all videos bc my nails were thin and I was a nail biter, I got a vitamin e and Jojoba oil pen and learned how to file my nails and all ur others tips my nails are completely different now and it took no time at all!
always loved painting my nails and then in 2018 got a job as a dishwasher and couldn’t anymore, then got a new job in 2020 right before holo taco was launched i was so excited and now i have a huge collection and always get compliments on my nails 💅🏼
Oh my god so good seeing you doing nail videos again. In live stream is even better
Cuticle oil / nail oil saved my nails!!! They were DESTROYED during a trip to a salon in California.... So I stocked up on oils when I got home and have been using them RELIGIOUSLY. My nails are growing back beautifully from having been broken to below the quick!
I needed this two decades ago when I couldn’t hold nail polish for longer than two days.
And now I just do gel nails or acrylic (not a pro but it’s been near decade of self teaching and my natural nails are paper thin and bend which was why I never could have long nails before)
I love your glass nail files, they're the best I've tried!
I ordered my first Holo taco order!
Peely base and linear holo taco and I'm so excited!
I'm a new subscriber after finding you in a search for diy Christmas gift ideas, so this was a wonderful way to get to know you and your channel!
I was just running low on my nail thinner, so it’s good to know I don’t need to get more at Ultra now! 💿💖
Weirdly enough, I actually really like working with thicker polishes. I like the feeling and structure of thicker nails, and thicker polishes work differently. It's particularly good for building out to protect the tip.
When Cristine finally pronounced jojoba oil right 😆
What about when she said eczema?
I remember this class from even before holo taco was a thing, I payed attention and my nails are always perfect!
Hi cristine i just wanted to tell u that i’ve been watching you for the past 7years! i am a true fan! I love u so much! Keep up the good work! ❤
Your nails have such a beautiful shape. This is the shape I have always wanted.
I swear I'll watch the four hour long streams and still rush to the highlights videos every single time 🤣
This is the best nail tutorial I've ever seen! I learned so much!!
this is very helpful, thank u 🥹 lots of good info jam-packed into one video
Thank you for this. I will try this the next time I do my nails. For my base coat, I always use Beauty Garde Rocket Fuel. It helps grow my nails. I really like it.
my nailpolish has never lasted and looked better than after following your advice!! btw for anyone on a budget who needs a good quick dry glossy taco i suggest the essence one!! it looks like gel polish
I've had ONE manicure, and she made me BLEED! Never went back.
Also clean the neck of your nail polishes to keep the bottle well sealed when closed.
I use coconut oil and it’s fabulous 😊
Omg I didn't realize you had to dehydrate your nails before putting polish on! I've been using jojoba oil before putting polish on and I'm like "wow this nail polish must be so cheap since it's peeling so bad!!" Turns out I'm just not doing it right xD I knew something was up when my OPI nail polish started doing the same thing when I know damn well that my nails like that brand since that's what the nail salon I go to uses. This makes so much more sense!! I'll also have to try some Holo Taco someday!!
Not Cristine teasing the oil pen again! I need ittttt 😫😫😫
Biotin (Vitamin B7) has helped my nails tremendously. I started it in the spring. My nails have never looked so good.
I watched a video you made on how to grow out ur nails long and your recomendation for nailbiters to get holo nail polish so we wouldn't wanna bite our nails and it worked for me! I have short but not bitten nails with holo taco on them as im writing this. Your tip changed my life for the better
I used the long lasting base coat for a while and it made my polish pop off after one or two days when just going right in with polish made it last longer
I recently ordered Holo Taco and I don't want this to sound like an ad campaign BUT I recently painted my nails at my mom's but forgot to bring a glossy taco and yet Mint Money still clung to my nails for dear life, it's shining to the heavens and I don't know what you put into this formula Christine but oooof I'm impressed, especilly for a polish with glitter the longevity is awesome
7:09 this is amazing, the before after. looks just like mine too! i need to start doing this........
After watching for years I can say I finally have gotten the oil and pens and I too have a brush pen and I have given them as gifts
I love ur videos so much!!❤😊
I follow all these steps when I do my nails, my polish stays on forever but then she got to the buffing block. I just did that naturally every time I painted, I didn't know it was bad to do it every time!
I’m new to nail painting, and I gotta give an A++++ to the long lasting base coat:) my mani’s went from lasting 24-48hrs to well over a week✨
Everything, literally everuthing you mentioned in this video on what to do is what i have been doing to keep my nails neat, clean, and healthy. Glad I wasn't the only one. 😊
slayyyy i love ur energy
I only use nail clippers, nail files give me the heebie jeebies I just can’t deal with the sensation. Talk about nails on a chalkboard! I keep my nails 2-3mm over the fingertip so I get a nice elongated look without worrying about breaking them off because that length takes me about 2-3 weeks to grow out it’s no big deal.
thanks this was incredible and so thorough
It's called an orangewood stick, like, made of orangewood
idk why this was suggested to me, i don't watch beauty videos and almost never paint my nails. and yet here i sat through the whole thing, thuroughly entertained and more equipped for my next eventual nail painting session... thanks for the fun and insight!
I've been wondering why my nail polish sometimes just peels off... Unfortunately, I've already painted my nails before I watched this, but next time I'll follow what you said!
I like the ombre yellow. That's pretty cool looking. I hope to learn something helpful because my nails break off very easily. I figure all the keratin goes straight to my hair lol
Whatched a few weeks ago and tried to follow along. My nails were perfect and lasted a week! Never coming back to the salon!
i love your content christine!!!
Learned alot 💅🏻 Thanks
That cat is so cute! Thanks for all the advice.
Did i already know all of this and do it regularly? Yes. Did i watch thiw video again anyway? Absolutely.
No mention of body chemistry this time though, at least in the clipped version. My body chemistry makes my nails peel off in whole pieces (like Simply's peelys) even when using long lasting base. They used to peel off even the same day that I painted them. Now, using these tips I can make them last avout 5 days, maybe a week if I'm lucky
it's absolutely in the 4 hour stream, this is cut down highlights👀
I used all these tips but really primer was the biggest game changer for me
I have to admit it, but I've never heard of nail polish thinners and have always added clear coat polish to my thickening glitters and it's always worked for me 😂
I will use a buffer very, very lightly (like 5 swipes at most) and it makes nail polish last 2 weeks as a bartender. I usually don’t use it till my nail has grown out from the point that I buffed it since I have thin nails.
It looks like peanut butter and jelly! Love it! I want to grow my nails out now lol
I went through the staining, there are nail polishes out there that help brighten up your nails again. It happens 🤷♀️ lol I don’t remember the name but the one I used was clear with a blue tint and IT WORKED ❤❤❤❤❤🎉
I love your videos btw💕💕💕💅
First time viewer lol, I've always had an issue with polish just abandoning ship. I can get them to grow, pretty ok, but cannot keep a non-gel polish longer than 24 hours. Watching this, I immediately grabbed my nail oil for some therapy (2x a day? and underneath? 🤯 no way!) and will be trying out some of these techniques once I'm absolved (grown out) of my nail sins
This was very useful, can't believe it's my first time watching a video on how to actually do nails hahaha
Love ur videos even from ur old channel I P.S I play ur livestream and fall asleep listening to it hope it’s not weird❤
Cristine is going to fix my peely nail problem 🥲 NAIL QUEEN
Wow I learned so much! I'm new to your channel. Thanks!
