Huge monster of a man. Shocked he wasn't in the NFL top 100. There are only a handful that could rate above him. Jim Parker of the Colts. The great John Hannah of the Patriots. Larry Allen of the Cowboys. And probably the greatest of them all, the fabulous Anthony Munoz of the Bengals. That would be my Mt. Rushmore for offensive linemen. That's a pretty short list above Bob Brown. His knee problems were probably the one thing that kept him from the very top. Brown had only about a 10 year career. But, it was ten years of terror!! Intimidation in upper case.
Been a Raiders fan for almost 40 years, don't really remember BB, but what a hell of an athlete, any player in the world at that time lined up against Mean Joe...and HE says you can have him back, "I'm done"...son you just punched your ticket to BADASSERY HEMAN of the Universe club! So THIS was the guy who did that?! That's one of the NFL's great tales. I never knew who was the lineman who put a screw on the side of his helmet though. Thanks for this
God I miss those days! This is what real football was all about!
♥ Thank on this piece...Instant Coffee gratification...I knew of Bob Brown and to know Id wished to be an NFL football player never came and instead became a Raider head in 76'...all these comments/stories from his peers ---IS BEAUTIFUL. My all time OL was always Munoz, Hannah, I forgot my C selection and RG selection, but Bob replaces Matthews (Bruce). Loved Joe Greenes account of Bob ----FAH Love!
0:46 BEAUTIFUL MUSIC TRANSITION
Bob Brown was amazing!
I feel as though hes up there with John Hannah and Alan Faneca on those levels!
Thank you!
Don't forget Anthony Munoz!
Mean Joe Green: Let me get him.
HIKE!
Helmet is twisted and shoes fly off.
Nice Joe Green: You can have him back.
Big Bob Legendary 🤴🏽🏆 Black King 🤴🏽🏆
Huge monster of a man. I wish there would be more film footage of when he went up against Denver's Rich "Tombstone" Jackson, if you watch the video about Jackson Lyle Alzado talked on there about how "Bob Brown didn't last 3 quarters with Rich", said he got the better of him one game; don't know if that was accurate or not but that must've been a classic battle between two monster players!
He had bad knees the last few years of his career. Tombstone Jackson should be in the hall of fame.
Bob Brown will make the meanness football player sleep with the light on
When HOF men like Carl Eller, Deacon Jones, Herb Adderly and Mean Joe Greene talk the way they do about Mr. Brown, you know this guy had to be seriously legit! Mean Joe Greene telling LC Greenwood, "Nope, I've had enough," says it right there!
American Warhorse ..you said it brother 👍🏿
Seriously! Ive never been aware of joe greene tapping out 🤣
Baxter Stocksandbondsman ..You’re right it takes a bad man to make Mean Joe throw in the towel 👍🏿
Mean Joe was like, "Nah LC you got em homie. Have fun"
@@supergrover1746 He was looking out his ear hole and had one shoe off when he said it, too.
God I love watching videos from days gone by. Can't see play like that anymore.
did he say spleen!? 😳 he was really trying to hurt people lol savage!
Tony Diablo ...that’s scary 😳
@@devinrivers5808 heck yeah!
It's a vestigial organ...no biggie. Almost had to have mine removed.
I remember watching him play and he was a pure beast. . It has been said that he broke a goal post up right with that forearm shiver
Man thank you so much for posting this. Guys from that era are being forgotten due to a lack of film and people just not talking to them anymore. Videos like this really help young guys like me who want to understand more about the game from that time.
Glad you liked it and there are tons of hidden treasures from this era so enjoy your research :)
Wow...I really enjoyed watching this video of a true football great. Bob Brown was truly a force to be reckoned with! Keep up the great work.
Bob Brown! I was there. Season tickets! Thanks Dad!
They don't make them like they use to.
I know that's right my friend!!!!
Suh. Checkmate
That goalpost story sounds like something out of “The Munsters” where Herman breaks something with ease?
That pretty much says it all right there how strong this guy was when he had Herman Munster type strength! 💪
I don't know how I wound up here, but I'm better for having watched this. Much respect to the pioneers whose shoulders the subsequent generations stand upon.
1:45 to 1:52, this mf takes out 4 (four).. (FOUR) defenders with one block. RIP Bob Brown.
They don't make o linemen like this dude no mo...... PERIOD.
not since erik williams
Damn! Can you imagine staring at an offensive line consisting of Jim Otto, Bob Brown, Gene Upshaw, and Art Shell? That alone is a pro bowl o-line!
That's my type of guy. The young Raiders need to understand History of the Raiders. All that finesse BS can go out the door.
I was a kid and I seen Bob Brown jogging around a track he was on human like he was so big to me I was a little boy when I seen him and I couldn't believe the size of that man
I'm boutta sample this sound track, God damn!
TY for what you did for the RN. PS...can I say an original BEAST MODE?!? Knocking a fucking goal post down with a forearm!?!?!
My first memories as a child were my father telling me stories of how menacing it was to go against Bob in 1968 Eagles training camp. Bob would be All pro today.
Thanks for uploading this....GO RAIDERS!!!
Keep in mind, this is before OL could use their hands to shove, punch and hold legally while essentially remaining immobile. You had to be quick on your feet,be able to move and run to get out in front of Defenders.
Thatmanstu Moto Tours the entire damn video is Bob shoving and punching people. He TALKS about shoving and punching people in the video.
"Traded to Los Angeles to do his dirty work for the Rams" and that was a compliment to a player back then.
I was so glad to see Boomer elected to the HOF. Him and Shell, Upshaw, and Otto on the line..tough, man!
And Ron Mix. One year--every single O lineman was a future hall of famer. Every single one. Wow!
He gave Mean Joe da bizness!!
If they play 'blockbuster' on your highlight film then you gotta be a monster.
I went back and forth between Blockbuster and Street Warfare. Both fit well but Blockbuster gave it a little more menace.
@@UncleJakesRaidersVideos there's two versions, I guess. This one was used in the NFL classic film series for the doomsday defense, the other was used for Larry Csonka (I think).
@@420JackG Yep, the Doomsday segment was one the best NFL Films things ever made.
