- Harudomerugu may not seem like it at first, but I genuinely think that it is by far the single most dangerous monster in the entire Monster Hunter franchise.
This Elder Dragon is capable of manipulating a metal-like substance similar to quicksilver. If you don't know, quicksilver is the alternative name for mercury.
If you didn't know either, the effects of liquid mercury, either by touching it or smelling its fumes is incredibly dangerous and lethal to any organic body.
It either straight up kills you, or damages your entire organisms and nervous system to points where you'd be scarred physically and psychologically for life, until you eventually die from the toxicity.
It's not exactly confirmed that Harudomerugu controls mercury, but liquid metal in general, such as aluminium and the likes is still very dangerous.
Getting anywhere close to Harudomerugu would realistically shred to pieces anyone. Not to mention that to keep this substance liquid, Harudomerugu probably also uses its red organs to keep it at boiling temperatures ; you can hear it bubbling when Harudomerugu enrages and creates an aura of this substance around itself.
This monster is the single biggest biohazard in the franchise, there isn't a single monster that comes close to the damage Harudomerugu can cause to entire environments, not even something like Vaal Hazak and its miasma that only really affects small creatures.
The amount of its liquid substance it throws around, the fumes, etc, would completely destroy all living organisms, on top of the substance eventually being absorbed by the soil, which would lethally contaminate earth and phreatic zones.
Of course this is just Monster Hunter, and nothing this serious actually happens or is documented as far as I know, but taking a closer look at this monster really made me realise how absolutely fucked up it is. There are some World ending threats in the series like Fatalis and Alatreon sure, but they actually pale in comparison to the damage a travelling Harudomerugu could cause.
When it comes to the fight, Harudo can be a little frustrating, but it is hands down one of if not the best monster I have encountered in this game so far. It is a very unique Elder Dragon with a completely unique and vast moveset.
It's a very fair fight that only has one glaring issue, Harudo has a spinning move that causes "super" stun, and it has an absolutely horrible hitbox. I saved clips of that move hitting me despite evading completely outside of the visual effect of it, and it ended quite a few of my runs.
I had the impression that Harudo was an over the top monster at first, but its moveset actually makes sense in how it controls its substance to use it both liquid and solid ; it's really well designed, with a good balance of physical and AoE moves.
Its theme is also incredible, and gave me shivers the first time I fought it.

The symbol for mercury is Hg, and Harudomerugu's name is basically Hardmerg, which starts with an H and ends with a g.

Ah yes, I love it when a frontier monster that is perceived as over the top but the player’s thoughts change after experiencing them personally.
Makes me really really hope more frontier monsters make it into mainline! Great video and wonderful content. Please keep making long descriptions, I love reading them.

You seemingly just repeated the key words people online use to roast Frontier when they don't have any significant knowledge or real experience with the game, without elaborating further or presenting an argument to why you think that.
Frontier is wacky, but it's not non-canon.

Yeah, a monster that just spreads mercury seems a pretty big ecological hazard. Although Harudomerugu wouldn't need boiling temperatures in order to have Mercury as a liquid, it's one of the two elements (Bromine is the other one) that's liquid at room temperature. Though it would be beneficial for Harudo to heat up the mercury in order to force it to give off more vapor in the air, which greatly damages both the lungs and the nervous system.

Heya Lynn, do you have any recommendations for a new player trying to gear up in HR5? I havent quiet decided on a main weapon yet, but any advice will be helpful! There's next to no content regarding Frontier's mixed sets so its rough going in without any knowledge.

Start with this, depending on which weapon you plan on maining before taking on the HR6 monsters you can probably move some stuff around.

I see where you are coming from, but while yes Raviente is gargantuan, there is a difference between physical destruction of its surroundings, and the biohazard abilities of Harudomerugu. Physical destruction is nothing compared to contamination.

On account of your worries about his realistic threat level, I don't think Haldmerg produces mercury anymore than Kush farts out air from out of thin air (!). I believe there is something as MonHun thermodynamics, and if Haldmerg just uses the mercury around him, he sounds a lot less catastrophic.
Frontier is hands down my favourite MH game. Will you be doing runs with Tonfa and MS when you unlock them?

Probably not, tonfas have never interested me because of how ridiculous they look (I know there's styles with tonfas that are more grounded tho) as for Magnet Spike it's even worse, not only does it just look ridiculous and makes no sense, I also learned that it is absurdly overpowered, so I'm not really interested either
I have a theory that Harudomerugo can fly by manipulating the Mercury in a way that it can produce enough to let fly despite Mercury being one of the densest metals
As you can see when Harudo is "naked" in its true form, its wings are like tentacles and unable to actually lift it in the air. It uses its substance to form solid webbings on them, so it can fly.

Harudomeguru would be extremely biohazardous... Irl. But this is a world where animals spew out fire and shoot out lightning, and god knows what dragon element or bioenergy is. Specialized ore eaters like Uragaan and Gravios also exist, and animals that literally swim in and ingest lava! Sure Harudo might still be toxic, but MH life is also built differently.
