Love the Albano! I bought a new US Games Albano last year -printed in Italy and has nice Matte card stock. I also acquired a vintage 60s Albano, about 10% of the U.S. Games edition cards have colour changes - compare the Moon and Queen of Cups between vintage and current editions.
Thanks so much for this. I always figured that my Albano was 1968 because someone gave it to me (without a box) in about 1974, but the verification of the blemish on the KOW is a really nice tidbit that confirmed it for me. Wish I had some of my boxes from all of my old decks but just happy to have the decks themselves. :)
I wish with all of my heart that US Games would just totally remaster this deck. Go in and rebuild the line work and colors from the ground up to reproduce Frankie's original take, but I think that, unfortunately, this deck just doesn't have enough demand outside of its cult following for US Games to have any interest in doing this.
Thanks so much for this video. I purchased a vintage Albano without the box or LWB some years ago and have always wondered if it was really a vintage deck. Based on what you have described, it is. Yeah! I also have one of the vintage majors only Accurate Color decks that has a sticker on the box from Metaphysical Town-Hall Book Shop in San Francisco.
@@becomingtemperance409 I vote for this kind of video too. ;p)..Metaphysical Town-Hall book shop? Good Lord a metaphysical shop that pre dated my life in SF? so saaad now..lol
Oh dear..... feeling like I must get the vintage AW!!! Purple is my favorite color, so I’ve got to get those beautiful Pentacles courts!! Thanks, Lisa, for this very informative video!!!
These videos are SO helpful. Thank you for going through it all for those of us that are finicky, you are saving us time, money, and disappointment. Awesome...now off to Ebay.
A lot of people were complaining about the quality of print in the US Games version, saying that some of the images seemed blurry. Is it too distracting for you, Lisa?
I watched this video last night and dreamed about the deck after! Very intense dream... Lots of signs I need to get the deck. Thanks for the beautiful video xx
Wow! I'd love to hear more about an Albano-Waite dream... that sounds very powerful and important. I hope you're able to get a copy sometime soon - and I'm eager to hear what comes next! Thanks for watching. xoxoxo
I just bought a US games version off Amazon UK. Apart from the fact it was ripped and opened, the quality was so bad (terrible card stock and blurred images) I thought it was a counterfeit. But when I peeled the sticker from the bar code area it turned out to be the 1996 Italy copy. It was comparable quality to a counterfeit Chinese RWS someone bought me by accident! Needles to say I've returned it and ordered the German copy I found on Abe, so thanks for showing that one.
Thanks for all the info. I love how you give so much details on decks. I have an Albano-Waite which I think is the newer version and now I cant wait to get home from work to look at them. :) Mine is by US Games and made in Italy.
Hi dear! Thanks so much for watching and for your kind words. What do you think of your Italian printing? Some of them are better than others - the one I had a few years back was just AWFUL... but they've improved, I think...
Hey, loved your video. I have an Albano waite, new edition by US Games. There is some colour variation in there in a few of the suits like you mentioned. Dunno if that's helpful. Anyway enjoyed your video 😁
I found what I think is a vintage Albano Waite deck in an antique store but it comes with a large white book. Any thoughts where the large book comes from? Could it be from the large deck version?
Hey, thanks for all your tarot knowledge. I'm new to collecting, but the Albano Waite was my first-ever deck from 20 years ago when my mother gave me hers that she bought new in 1970. I wonder about your first edition / first printing vis a vis the trademark symbol? I notice that different versions of the box have the trademark or don't. I haven't tried to figure out when / why the trademark was added.
Thanks for the video. I saw your video about which decks are essential for a tarot reader, where you suggested getting either the Morgan Greer or the Aquarian Tarot. Do you have many Morgan Greer tarots? If you have, have you ever considered doing a video comparing the different versions? Unless there isn't much difference of course :-)
Hello dear! Thanks for watching and writing. I'll definitely do a Morgan-Greer video one of these days. I do have several vintage versions... The fact is that the versions have remained relatively similar over the years - except for the backings. It's one of the few decks that really does stay consistent over the course of its reproductions....
You’ve made a video about the Albano Waite versions, great! I do still think though, there is another vintage sixties AW out there with thick card stock. I own the nineties AW printed in Belgium, which I use, but every picture is blurry. Don’t you have the same issue with your nineties deck? Thank you so much for making the video!
Great question, Anna! - On mine, I don't find the images really blurry - the vintage 1968 ones are pretty blurry actually (color bleeding outside of the lines, for instance) - what would be amazing would be if US Games just remastered the deck: started over with crisp versions of Pixie's artwork and then accurately reproduced Frankie's coloring.... Nobody's done that yet, though :-(
I know, right? I've got an email out to the kind folks at US Games. I'm wondering if by any chance the newest version have better card stock and maybe even more "accurate color tones"! - thanks for watching, dear heart!
Ooh! No I haven’t!! Can you post a link for it - or let me know how you found it? I saw a German version on eBay that looked like it might be like my vintage US Games... I assumed the colors were he same....???
@@MindfulTarot I got it off of german amazon.. Yes that one on ebay was a vintage version and they have reprinted it ..the ones i found are used but not a bad price www.amazon.de/gp/offer-listing/3811811991/ref=dp_olp_used?ie=UTF8&condition=used
@@SpookyStregaAL Thanks so much for all of this, Annalisa. I'm excited!! I went for it - given my love of the Albano, how could I not??! I ended up buying the set via Abebooks instead of Amazon... it was a bit more expensive (about $35 with shipping), but with Abe I feel more confident that I'll get a good quality set. I'll make a video when my arrives - would love to see what yours looks like too!
Great info Lisa, thank you! Last year sometime I almost went through with a swap for one of these 60's versions. I declined in the end as the edges has little bobbles on them, as if each card had been perforated from larger sheet....if you know what I mean lol! Do your versions have this, is this standard??? Xxx
Yes... that's what I was trying to say about the "crumbs" on mine. The edges are really rough - it makes sense that this has to do with some kind of perforating technology or something like that... But I will say that my three decks are all within tolerable "bobble" limits....
