    What are your favourite books?

I find it very hard to pick favourite books.
I love pretty much everything Rick Riordan has written so far. The Percy Jackson series, the spin offs and especially the newer book "Daughter of the Deep". I feel like Rick is really good at writing diverse characters. In DotD, there even is a canonically autistic character!
Some other favourites of mine are "The Starless Sea" by Erin Morgenstern, "Bridge of Clay" by Markus Zusak, "Turtles all the way down" by John Green and the books by Walter Moers who is a German author. But he is, in my opinion at least, one of the most skilled authors out there. His books are phenomenal and I have reread them multiple times and I fucking love it.
I don't know whether the translations are good because he heavily relies on wordplay and shines through his wording. But if one understands German I cannot recommend his books enough.
I really love books and I very much so enjoy your book related content

Didn't expect to find a fan of Walter Moers here, but it's a welcome surprise! :)
I should reread those books again...

So to everyone and anyone and anything that has and will ever ask me for book recommends, I tell: READ THE RAVEN CYCLE FROM MAGGIE STIEFVATER
It has fantastic magic, deals with serious themes in a wonderful way, GAY AF 😂, yeah. Please read it. It's beautiful.
P.S.: Other Minds sounds awesome, as an Octopus myself I am very much intrigued

I must confess, I love books about psychology, religion, and especially where they meet! I'm a huge nerd of the Hebrew Bible. Please, hear me out! I started some research, with help from people more fluent in Hebrew than myself. I knew I'd find lots of examples of encouragement to live authentically, but there's so much more than I thought! I share what I learn on my channel. *People really need to know that bigotry is not from the Bible!* Anyway, it also talks about pooping outdoors, priests' underwear, and dealing with unfair laws of land ownership. (Spoiler alert: an exception is made for the sisters!)
I also love The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, all 5 books.
Mama hugs to all the queer, neurodivergent, and/or nerdy folks! 🙏💗💜💙

I think you might enjoy and I really love to recommend the reader trilogy by Traci Chee there are multiple interwoven plots and the characters are so well written I really love the pirate plot but there’s magic and friendship and the books are interactive in a lot of cool ways I highly recommend them especially for people who like magic, worldbuilding, and multiple pov books

Based on the books you talked about, I think you would enjoy Arcadia by Iain Pears. It has elements of fantasy and sci-fi and involves three worlds interconnected in surprising ways. It has definitely a lot of dramatic irony, and a good cast of characters. I recently reread it and would recommend!

I love the sound of this Octopus book. It sounds like it might be similar to this book about mushrooms that I loved, called Entangled Life.
The Gentleman's Guide was a fun read. I certainly liked that one. Not my favourite, but pretty good. If it had had more overtly fantasy elements I probably would have enjoyed it a whole lot more.
Renegades is going on my list of things to read. Usually love stories annoy me, especially between the two main girl and boy characters, but I am willing to try it.
Scythe is also going on my list, it sounds very interesting.
I read Red Rising a while ago, and it emotionally scarred me. I would never recommend it to someone, mostly because it is just so depressing. A book would end "happily" then the next book would start seriously depressing. I never managed to finish the series. Though I will say it was a very cool concept, and I kept reading as long as I could.
Four of my favourite books are:
Lord of the Rings. It has been my favourite book since childhood and has changed me in profound ways.
The Starless Sea. An achingly beautiful book that gives you counseling to get over the fact that the book is ending. I first read the entire book in one night with no sleep.
Peter Darling. The first book with a trans main character I ever read, and many parts were very relatable. The ending really hit me emotionally.
The Slow Regard of Silent Things. A short story by the author of the Name of the Wind. The main character has such a wonderful perspective and it's just a beautiful story.
There are plenty of other books I have really liked, but these four have emotionally affected me the most.
A notable mention is The Way of Kings, mostly for the gorgeous worldbuilding.

These books all sound so fun! My favorite book is probably Howl’s Moving Castle, it just has such chaotic and funny characters! The plot isn’t necessarily perfect ( random time travel to 80s Wales) but it’s really nostalgic, so I love it!

I got about 3/4 of the way through Howl’s Moving Castle, and I really loved the characters, but I couldn’t keep up with the plot so I never finished it. I do appreciate the story, though! Thanks for commenting. ❤️

Anything by Rick Riordan, his books are a lot of fun yet dramatic. He’s also very adamant about including representation in his books, including LGBTQ representation. And he defends his inclusion hard whenever bigots criticize him for it.
I’m starting to read the Discworld series by Terry Prachett and I’m loving it. It’s hilarious, imaginative, yet also compelling.
I’d also recommend Dreadnought, trans girl gets superpowers and has to save the world from a new upcoming supervillain and also deal with rampant transphobia.

It’s been a while since I’ve read anything (I gotta get back into reading!!) but I really like Neil Caiman’s Norse Mythology adaptation and Stephen Fry’s trio of Greek myth adaptations. They’re told in a really cosy, modern way but you can tell the love that was put into making them faithful and authentic to the various sources that still exist, I’d recommend them ^^

I LOVE THE RENEGADES it’s been my favorite series for years! I’m also aromantic and it’s one of the only romance plot-lines I’ve liked

I appreciate these recs so much! I've been looking for audiobooks from my library and a lot of the older titles people recommend are never available in audio format (I have a visual disability), but I found all but two of these at my library! I also really value recs from other queer & neurodivergent people.
My favourite series I've listened to in the last few years was "The Broken Earth" Trilogy by N.K Jemisin. Very intense, but one of the most epic reads of my life and it's in my top three series of all time. It also has mostly queer POC characters, which is still too rare in sci-fi/fantasy epics.

I love Scythe and Gentleman's Guide. I don't read much ya books these days, but I recently decided to read Alice Oseman's book Loveless and I absolutely adored it! I wish I had read something like that when I was a teen (I'm 30). Some of my most favorite books are Convenience Store Woman by Sayaka Murata. It's not confirmed but I headcanon the protagonist of that book as autistic and aroace. I also love Emily Brontë's only published novel Wuthering Heights, Affinity by Sarah Waters, The Drowning Girl by Caitlin R. Kiernan, Tripping Arcadia by Kit Mayquist, Our Wives Under the Sea by Julia Armfield, Tell Me I'm Worthless by Alison Rumfitt, We Have Always Lived In the Castle by Shirley Jackson, and The Ice Princess's Fair Illusion by Dove Cooper (verse novel about aromanticism and asexuality and a sapphic qpr). I tend to gravitate towards horror, fantasy and scifi, and if they're sapphic then that's a nice bonus! :)

I actually read both Renegades and Scythe last year! I really liked Renegades, although that epilogue in the last book was kind of infuriating (if you know you know). I did think the Scythe books were a bit slow, but the overall story was good and those ✨️plot twists✨️🤌 so i think it was worth it.
