Very interesting method. Very different from most modern repros. Of course, it helps illustrate the need for reenactors (of all periods) to look at original sources instead of slavishly replicating always the same modern repros. Thanks, Santee.
ALways good to have options.
Hey Santee. Been watching for a few years now, just wanted to give you some well wishes from a former Texas boy now holed up in the middle of nowhere in Missouri. Your videos here on the Arizona Ghostriders channel has helped me more than you know in getting my old west knowledge up to snuff, and it makes for some interesting conversations with my dad. Keep up the good work!
Awesome! Thanks and enjoy the state where all them famous Confederate Guerillas came from.
I am in Missouri and I went to Texas and I am back in Missouri
A born and raised Missourian here
Mizzurah boy here as well.
Born and raised in Ozark Co…now living in Springfield.
Lacing cartridge loops, sure beats all the stitching…. Now I gotta look it up in my Packing Iron book. Thanks Santee great ideas! Have a great weekend.
Right on!
The folks at River Junction are great, I’ve been making purchases since they opened many years ago. As a matter of fact, while cleaning out my re-enacting stash, I found one of their catalogs, #1 to be exact. I have been eyeing that very belt myself, looks nice and like you said a heavy leather loaded with 40 44-40 cartridges gets heavy quick! Good luck on the new job!
Thank You!
I've been eyeballing that gun belt myself from the good folks at River Junction. Thank you Santee for making a video on it.
You're welcome.
this was great: you turned a simple need to replace an important item into a whole video that was informative and fun
Thank You!

Hey Red!!!🥃🥃🥃
Awesome. Thank you very much. You and your family have a beautiful and blessed weekend.
Appreciated!
Nice video, and belt, Santee. But I was hoping you'd model it for us.
Do a little turn on the catwalk. On the catwalk, yeah. 🤠
Next time!

SWEET! 😃
I just wanted to thank you for teaching people about the past, all my old west knowledge has come from you Santee. Ever since I got into learning about the old west 3 years ago I found your channel, thanks for everything, keep up the good work!
I appreciate that!
Another great video Santee! Funny story, I realized when watching it that my family and I met you at what I'm assuming is the new gig a couple of weeks ago. You seemed SO familiar to me and now I understand why! My 4 boys still talk about their cowboy friend they met in AZ. Anyway, wish I would have put two and two together so I could have told you in person how much I enjoy your content here.
Awww, thanks! I really appreciate that. Glad you all had fun!
I do like River Junction!
Yes!
These videos are over just to quickly. And thank you for sharing about your new belt you must be really happy and satisfied with that. It's nice to know that there are people out there still who take a lot of pride and putting something together. 🤠🌵
Thanks!
I have been a customer of River Junction for years. I have never been dissatisfied with their products or service. They are my go to shop for all things Old West.
CooL!
I have the very same belt from River Junction. I like it a lot, it is very light, flexible and comfortable to wear. I used it, with a couple of River Junction holsters, as my first CAS rig, before I moved on to a dedicated CAS rig from Mernickle. I still use the River Junction rig for living history.
Cool!! I think you told me about it first, if I remember.
Very cool Santee! Beautiful belt and so glad you won’t lose anymore bullets
Oh, I probably will. I found one in the dirt last week that I think I lost in 2019.
@@ArizonaGhostriders 😂
Nice belt. I've used River Junction in the past for Spanish-American War living history. The have some great stuff!
Cool!
Last week I just replaced my everyday custom leather gun belt (without loops) after 10 years. Still looks and works great, but I lost a fair amount of weight so I replaced it and got a ranger style belt. I have to say I like the leather tongue that goes under and into a loop -- it takes the pressure off the buckle and I find the belt doesn't try to roll over. Great topic. Thanks.
Great point!
I always enjoy watching Arizona Ghost Riders, please keep up the good work.
Thank You!
Jingles turned away because he had already heard that joke.
Some equines are just too serious.
Loved seeing Kermit’s cowboy boots!
Good!
River Junction Trade Company = ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ , Excellent Service , Excellent Quality Products and some of the nicest folks you'll ever have the pleasure of doing business with !! .
Awwesome!
My gun belts have usually been Amish leather work belts with belt slides added for cartridges as I need them. The buckles are usually held on by what looks like rivets, but they are actually screws on the backside, so the buckle can easily be changed. Gotta have my fancy silver belt buckles with real preserved scorpions encased in them.
Cool!
And a nice new gun belt it is! Great video as Always Santee im always mighty honored to see a new vid from from my favorite Ghostriders
Thank You!
Great video Santee! Cartridge belts are "fun" to make! I've done a couple and they turned out pretty good, but boy, are they labor intensive!
Sure are. I figured a sewing machine would knock one out much quicker
Yep, thar, Santee. Ya dun dit it yet again! Great history on gun belts. Love River Junction products. Been wanting to get one of the hardware store belts for some time now. Siri looked real excited. Maybe it was your delivery when you told the joke to Jingles. 🤔 Good to see Ethan.
HAHAHA! Yes, Ethan is a heckuva kid.
Nice new belt you got there. Thanks for the Saturday kickoff.
Be safe out there, and take it easy man.
Thank You!
Don't forget 120 degrees in the snow. Thanks for sharing !
HAH!
Awesome! I like that red leather. I got a regular red leather waist belt that was made in Mexico and is heavily embossed with flora designs. A lady in SoCal imports them and sells them. I pocket carry so I just need the belt to hold my breeches up, don't need them around my knees.
Anyway, a famous Colt advertisement from the 1890s shows a ranch girl wearing a plain pistol belt and the holster itself has 6 loops for spare cartridges. I've seen an antique original version of that holster too.
I can't imagine how heavy a belt would be with loops end to end! Especially a Mill's style Prairie Belt with .45-70 Government.
👍😎
.
I think about cops today and all the weight they have on their belt. This is nothing compared to them!
Did you know that by soaking the belt leather in water and letting it dry out in the sun it will shrink the leather to tighten up the bullet loops, the whole belt itself (so you don’t have to keep punching new holes) and lighten up the weight. Afterwards use febings leather conditioner sparingly on the grain side rather than grease or neatsfoot oil. Oil and grease make leather stretchy.
I enjoy your channel, I always get at least a chuckle.
Yes, that can help. Sometimes it's just a bandaid though, like with this belt.
Glad the channel educates and entertains you.
Santee, just fashioned a sort of cartridge belt for my wife's Ruger Police Service Six wheelgun and Henry Big Boy. Used a basic garrison belt and got a couple of Jay Pee police 18 cartridge loop sleeves on either side of the holster. Totally inauthentic for sure but it works for those firearms, Will check the link, thanks.
Sounds interesting!
Been eyeing this belt. Thanks Santee
Thank You!
That was extremely interesting. Did not realize there were so many differences in the belts. Keep Safe❤Keep Well ❤
Thank You!
Interesting as always. That new belt is very sharp my friend. Cheers buddy!
Thank You!
Excellent video as always Santee :) The belt looks amazing :) Yeeehaw
Thank You!
Thank you Santee. loved the prices of the old belts. New one looks great. Have a super weekend.
Thank You!
Thanks again Santee & Co.
Any time!
River Junction is great! I ordered a Matt Dillion hat from Gunsmoke and love it. I was amazed at the fit since I only provided my hat size. Highly recommended them.
Very cool!
I'll second that motion !!
Hey Santee, thanks again for another great episode always enjoy your historical narrative about certain artifacts. Thank you so much for sharing have a great day.
You're welcome!
Santee l love your channel you always have great topics, this belt one is great because I have a money belt made by Collins & Morrison Omaha Nebraska that started as a pistol cartridge bud has been changed to a double loop for rifle at some point in its life , my grandfather and father used it for the krag 30 40 . I now just hang it on the wall for display.
That is so cool!!
Nice video and gunbelt Santee . River Junction is a great resource for many Old West items . I purchased a period correct Cavalry Campaign hat from them.
Thanks for sharing
Man that horse is a tough crowd, keep it up Santee😁👍
Thanks 👍
I've been buying from River Junction for the last couple years and they are wonderful to do business with. I've bought a holster and several clothing accessories from them.
Thanks for sharing!
Excellent episode Santee. I still need to get around to making my belt. One day. Have a great weekend!
Gonna take longer than a day, Timothy. Trust me!
@@ArizonaGhostriders Touche' Santee!
Absolutely beautiful belt! My next project is getting together the gun and belt for my western outfit.
Cool!
Very interestingly informative, inspiring and awesome video, I really liked and enjoyed it.
I learned a lot about different gun belts from the old west.
Great job and well done, keep up the great work.
I got a lot of inspiration for the old west and retrofuturism inspired story/series I’m working on writing.
I’m definitely going to be adding different old West gun belts to my story alongside old west frontier attire.
There’s also going to 90s and 2000s retrofuturism attire in my story as well.
My story’s main character Mercia Hawkins will mostly be dressed in old west attire , well except for when he works at the main building of Gamelan investigative agency inc, where he is employed as one of the Mystery Z Files investigators.
In my story Mercia is both a lawman deputy and a investigative-agent who investigates anomalous paranormal activity.
Thank You!
@@ArizonaGhostriders thanks and your welcome 💕🌟😎❤️👍🏼
Awesome video Santee!!! That gun belt lookes amazing!!!! The end part with the hoke had me dying!!😂😂😂
Good!
Very interesting. My current gun belt has no cartridge loops mainly because I don't want to be carrying a SAA and 18 .45 Colt cartridges around my waist. That stuff gets pretty heavy. My hat's off to Roy Rogers with the two gun rig and all those bullets.
Yeah, they do get heavy.
You know what this means! I'm gonna have to try another style of gunbelt....someday! Thanks for the really cool video Santee!
HAHA!
Good episode. Husband liked see others leather work. He works leather and made ours. Mine is modeled to fit my Navy Colt cap and ball with pouch. His is also a Navy Colt. But he also made a belt for a Colt Peacemaker
Very cool!
I can't believe that I missed this video. But the timing was on target. I have a holster that was made in the 1880-1890's. And no, I ain't the original owner. I was thinking about how much I need a cartridge belt for it. I have a modern made, heavy leather one. But that's not something I figure even the old cowboys would wear as it would make for an uncomfortable ride if you had a bedroll pressing that stiff leather into your spine all day. I'll look at the site of which you spoke. Thanks for always pointing us in the right direction.
It's significantly lighter.
Man I never expected a John Singleton reference unless it was Posse and I’m impressed!
🥃
So cool. We saw you wore the belt at Old Tucson, Arizona.
I did!
Very neat stuff love the belt sir great piece. Have a good week buddy.
Thanks 👍
Looks like some great quality products. Great info 👍
Thanks 👍
I didn't know I needed to know more about 19th century gun belts until now
There you have it.
Great video that was a beautiful belt. Wow. You really belted that one. Good thing I buckled up before watching.
I was strapped for ideas!
Another awesome job, thank you , keep them coming
You bet
I stop in just to look over what he’s got at River Junction every time I’m in the area. It’s been a few years since I’ve been there so maybe a road trip should be required. I’ll wait until the weather warms up a little.
Thank You!
Silk is good for both keeping you cool in the summer and warm in the winter.
Yep
Great info Santee. Thank you.
Thank You!
That’s a mighty fine looking belt you got there Santee.
Thank You!
Those look great. Thanks for the recommendations on cool western wear.
Any time!
I’ll be ordering one of these soon. Look like excellent quality.
They are well made for sure.
Another COOL, COOL video, Santee...
Loved the info, demos, included video and audio clips, and pace. You're the greatest. BTW, some of us got your long, face joke.😉🤣 👏🏜🤠👏
Thanks! Sometimes with the equines, their attention span is tricky. But it is a good joke, dangit.
Another great piece of history!
Thank You!
I recently purchased a cartridge belt off eBay, for my .45 LC Cattleman. I like it, but it is a tad heavy. It looks pretty good though.
As always, another great video.
As long as it serves the purpose!
Another great video! Thanks Santee
Thank You!
Favorite shop for grips! Haven’t bought anything else yet though.
Right on!
Beautiful cat
Thank you. He is our little boy.
The cat looks a bit dejected. Wants to know why there are no cat sized T-Shirts.
Good looking belt there, Santee. Nice to see the old skills still surviving
Thank You!
They didn't ware gun belts with bullet loops on the TV show Bonanza, but when Guy Williams guest stared, he did have a gun belt with bullet loops......
Another fun fact is, in all the westerns thats been on TV in the past 70+ plus years, theres only 3 or 4 westerns that actually show someone putting bullets in the gun belt loops, the last western I seen that showed that being done was Keven Costner on 2012 Hatfields & McCoys........
Good point
Awesome
Thank You!
I have that gunbelt and a matching holster from them for my SAA. They make quality stuff
Cool!
Enjoyed the video, thanks! May I put in a plug for my hometown gun leather maker, El Paso Saddlery Company? Their Cheyenne rig is a beautifully tooled work of art in a functional money belt style. The holster can be carried on either side giving a cross-draw option if you want to carry butt forward. I find that 24 loops are a nice compromise with weight.
My second rig was an El Paso Saddlery and it was terrific.
Great looking belt Santee. Sounds like you enjoy the new job. If so you'll never work a day in your life! 🤠
Thanks!
I've been looking for a good slim jim holster for an 1860 Colt Army, left hand. This guy's work looks really nice. I'll contact him.
Your cat seems to be saying "You woke me up for this crap photo shoot? Where is my saucer of milk? Mew, mew, mew!!!"
LOL!
A nice belt and as a leather worker I can tell the quality and craftsmanship
Yup
Great video Santee. I do like the plain style I me need to look into that
Cool!
Nice! I need a new belt myself and this was some great inspiration!
Go for it!
Awesome video, thank you!👍
Glad you liked it!
Another excellent video, Santee!
Maybe wear men braces/suspenders, most men wore them, as there weren't too many ways to keep a heavy belt up from tugging on trousers, often hidden beneath a vest or large shirt.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Got 'em on in the video (you can see me putting one side on)
Very interesting. I didn’t know about those belts.
Thanks for watching!
Very cool. Great video Santee
Glad you enjoyed it
Very informative. Really enjoyed the video.
Thank You!
My favorite gunbelt isn't an exact match for Bianchi Duke holster but I like how it looks faded jeans. What the hell.😊😊😊😊😊
They don't have to match, that's the best part!
I really like that new belt gonna have to look into the lacing idea when I build my next one
Good.
Thanks for the video, and that's a really nice gunbelt!
Appreciate it.
I loved this episode. I’ll be checking out their website
Thank You!
Nice belt, thanks for sharing.
Thank You!
Great video Santee.
Thanks!
That's cool you found a belt that fit
You haven't?
Santee, I vaguely remember a vendor in Oatman selling gunbelts w/holster.
I wouldn't doubt it.
That's good to know a leather tool belt👍🏽
It sure is
@@ArizonaGhostriders I just bought a leather 6 shooter holster but don't have a belt for it. I was going to look for wide belts, now I'm going to the hardware store
Interesting video. I bought a holster from Etsy sometime back. Want to get a belt, for it now.
Go for it!
Beautiful belt
I think so too!
Howdy from Kentucky Santee,
That sure is a fancy Pew-Pew Strap. 🤠
Great video. Hope You and the Mrs. have a great weekend.
JT & Ole What's Her Name? 😁
HAAHAH! Thanks.
Nothing wrong with a drink, we live in the Wild West after all.
True.
Brother, I understand walking around with the heavy gun belt. When you're carrying 20-30 lead bullets around, it gets heavy fast. I'm trying to find a lighter weight alternative to lead for my dummy rounds.
Well, you could 3D print and paint. I've considered that.
@@ArizonaGhostriders I've thought about using some JB Weld in a bullet mold. Just gotta make sure the JB Weld doesn't 'weld' the mold shut.
Nice looking belt my friend.
Thank You!
