    I 1st tried Schmincke in 2008. Just a few months after I started watercolor. Susan Harrison-Tustain was my mentor at the time and by 2010 I became her student and protogy. I've worked with many brands snd Schmincke is still my favorite because of the way it behaves and blends. My Payne's Gray Bluish is a must have favorite of mine. Literally matches the summer night sky here where I live in the Usa Northwest, east of the Cascades Mountains. PG7 Phrhalo Green is the only PG7 I will use because its truly not very staining because of the purity of binders used.

      It's amazing to read about someone else's art journey and how a brand can be so powerful that stays with the artist for years. I truly believe Schmincke is outstanding watercolors, and I do have a strong love for their supergranulation colors. I have only been using watercolors for little over a year now, and while I am still trying to learn and adjust from one medium to the other, I can truly understand it when an artist speaks about a brand they love. In acrylics for example, I use only Golden. It is my go to brand. In watercolors, I am experimenting with as many brands I can get my hands into, which might seem quite extravagant, but at the same time I love pigments so much that my curiosity is almost justifiable! So far, I have a top three brand list for me, but I still want to finish testing colors before I decide on one or maybe two. :-) but on the other hand, I have been able to see the ones I truly would never use. Those I am planing to do something special with in the near future in the channel. Loving your art inputs! Thank you so much! ♥

    this was my experience first time painting with Schmincke Horadam colors. So buttery off the pan and then powerful color and sometimes striking granulation. what a great deal at SAA! have fun exploring more Schmincke Horadam watercolors in the future. Some other colors I recommend are Galaxy Blue, Tundra Pink, Forest Blue, Purple Magenta, Cobalt Violet Hue, Mahogany Brown, Perylene Green, and Payne's Grey Bluish. Would be fun to swatch out a dot card of theirs (they are making color family dot cards these days!)

      Hello @derwood206 ! I am so happy to read about someone else with the same experience! It was so unreal! Yes the SAA was a great deal and the price was quite affordable too! I did not see it available any longer but they do have a set that has all the same colors except the three additional free ones! Those three were soooo gorgeous! I am planning a little painting with them to work on today! I do have the Payne's Grey Bluish but I have not swatched it yet. I will record that reaction along with the trial set and the Madder Brown, but your selection of colors really do intrigue me, like the Perylene Green, Mahogany Brwn, Forest Blue and all the others! I think Tundra Pink may be in the super-granualtion set, but not sure, I have to check! But I have seen the Tundra Pink in swatch pictures and it is definitely a wow color! I am so excited about this! Thank you for sharing and all your recommendations! The colors suggested will be on my "to buy" list!! I have seen some of their dot cards, but I have restrained to buy them thinking that maybe that money can go to a full color, lol! Completely obssessed! But I should get a dot card and see for certain what I like and what I don't! Thanks again! 🍓🍓🍓

      They really are amazing! ♥ I am okay, but surviving an injury haha! It's been a week now since hurting my knee while working on a separate studio for my acrylics so.... yah, that's what happens haha! I doing okay but my knee is killing me! Glad you are enjoying Schmincke. It is side by side with my Daniel Smith preferences! ♥

    This is such a lovely video! Your excitement is contagious, and yes I love Schmincke colours too! 😊 I was very lucky: the first tubes of paint I got were a mixture of Schmincke Horadam and Daniel Smith, so they’re both very special to me.
    And I love Lola’s snoring 😍. So sweet.

I can only imagine you fell right in love with them! and about Lola... 🤣, Thank you! The snoring will happen most likely frequently, and she loves to sleep just behind me, or by my feet! I am glad everyone seems to like her!🍓🍓🍓Thanks for sharing and happy painting! Looking forward to reading you again!🍓

    It's cute that Lola is snorring in the background. We will be adopting a second rescue kitten in the next couple of weeks. Our older cat, Cookie, became very ill in August and we tried to save her, but the operation was unsuccesful😢. Since then our other cat, Cami, seems to have been missing feline company, which is why we are now going to adopt the kitten. Cami was an abandoned kitten when I came across her while walking the Camino de Santiago in Northern Spain. We brought her home to keep Cookie company. Now it will be her turn to be the older company cat for another rescue kitten like herself - they are both tabby cats and look very similar. Cookie was a tortoiseshell cat, also a rescue cat, that we brought with us when we moved from the UK to Spain in 2017.

      @sundayberries  9 месяцев назад +2

      I am so sorry to hear about Cookie. Losing our beloved pets is never easy because they are family. The same way their brothers or sister cats do miss them, I think that it is a great idea to adopt a new feline kitty to keep Cami company! I think maybe at first it will be a time to adapt, but surely they will become thick as thieves, as they say! Glad to know another fellow cat owner! 🍓🍓🍓

    Eso Lemon Yellow es muy pero muy llamativo. Ya puedo imaginar un rango de tonos verdosos al mezclarlo con Phthalo Sapphire Blue, o cualquier otro azul. Las pintura con cadmio no me molan tanto porque suelen ser un poco opacos. Son colores vibrantes y intensos sin duda.

      Sin Duda! Estoy muy de acuerdo! Este Lemon Yellow me ha parecido el mejor que he visto, y no miento. Y tambien estoy segura que me parece que de sus mezclas saldrian colores muy, pero muy hermosos! Estoy pensando, hoy mas tarde, trabajar con alguna pinturita sencilla, pero si te cuento que siendo el Lemon Yellow el primer color que probe en este swatch, quede perpleja ante él, así de hermoso y brillante es! 🍓🍓🍓

    Schmincke es una marca de mucha calidad, por eso son bastante caras. Tengo algunas que me gustan:
    Viridian, Transparent Ochre, English Venetian Red, Alizarin Crimson, Phthalo Sapphire.
    Voy a ver si encuentro una aqui para tentarme probarla 😊

      @@sundayberriesPhthalo Sapphire Blue is warm blue and is a very intense single pigment (PB16:6), staining, semi-transparent paint. I use with yellows to mix different greens. Occasionally, I'll mix it with some reds to make some different violet tones. I use it less as a blue in skies and seas, and when doing so, I use a very small amount with another blue or grey.
      I made up a small palette of half-pan granulating paints that include some from the Schmincke super granulation range. I use those to have fun experimenting with different textures in some areas of a painting.

    • @sundayberries
      @sundayberries  9 месяцев назад +2

      @@markdonovan1540 That color seems fascinating and cannot wait to get my hands on it! Great tips about the mixes you do with it as well as how to treat a sky with it! Thank you! About the supergranulating colors, I must admit I have never tried them and can only imagine how wild that is going to be! Or at least, it's what I am expecting haha! I can imagine the unbelievable textures they would do! 🍓🍓🍓

      @@sundayberries Solo es mi opinión, pero a mi me parece mejor las pinturas de Daniel Smith con granulación. Las de Schmincke que tengo son de godets, no de tubo, quizás por eso no se note tanto el efecto de granulación en comparación de la pintura en tubo que tengo de Daniel Smith. Hasta ahora mi experiencia con Schmincke súper granulación es que aún se requiere practicar como sacar el mejor de estas pinturas. Con algunas el efecto de la granulación sale inmediata, pero otras se requiere más agua o más pintura para que se vea bien el efecto.
      Me interesa de ver como será tu experiencia con la gama de súper granulación de Schmincke.

    • @sundayberries
      @sundayberries  9 месяцев назад

      @@markdonovan1540 Pienso igual que tú. Aún realmente no tengo idea porque la única que he utilizado es la de Bronzite genuine y lunar black. Pero aún me falta por aprender. Me siento como pez fuera del agua! Pero hacia adelante, estos colores de granulación me invitan mucho pero no quiero tocarlos hasta que haga un swatch de ellos.... Pero imagino que ahí es que comenzará todo para mi. Además, he comprado el liquido de granulación de Winsor & Newto a ver que tal me resulta. Lo has intentado?

    It’s wonderful to treat yourself to something nice like that! that lemon yellow is beautiful but unfortunately PY3 is not light fast… I don’t understand why some companies listed as such. Or why they wouldn’t choose a better alternative like PY 175, or PY 97… It is so beautiful though :-)

    • @sundayberries
      @sundayberries  9 месяцев назад +1

      Hello Creative Solutions! I agree Lemon Yellow is breathtaking! I think Schmincke, by saying lightfast, is basically placing it down to the lowest better lightfast scale, so it has much lower lightfastness than most, but not sure how much not lightfast the pigment really is. I am learning so many amazing things and so many more to learn, so this information is quite valuable to me! But I have seen that these ratings can change between some brands, so it can sometimes be quite difficult to really tell. I think a lot has to do with the binders and additives, if any, that could alter that rating. Thanks for sharing! 🍓🍓🍓

    • @creativesolutions902

      Yes we have so much to learn as artists! Can take a whole lifetime :-) there are two very valuable sources of pigment information, one here on RUclips, Kimberly crick art, who does her own light fasting tests. And hand print website. happy journeying!

      It's not the best light-fast but not totally fugitive either. It's good but not excellent. PY3 will still hold up at least 50 years in normal indoor lighting conditions.

      Hello NovemberGraye! Your thoughts have brought a smile to my face today!
