En Vogue giving him something he can feel.
He said 4C. OK, Jack. Come thru with the black hair knowledge. 👏🏿 👏🏿
Right. That’s what I said. My eyes got big when he said “4c hair” come through Jack! Knowledge is power! ♥️
Right! Jack was on point.
3B here, and I approve.
@@ms.one-town901 me too!!! He got snaps for being knowledgeable!!!
I caught that, too! 🤣
I feel like the "colorblind" line is more saying "Don't let my color/race influence how you choose to treat me" not necessarily "ignore my race/identity altogether"
Yeah, but you gotta remember, this song was from the early 90s, when the concept of being color blind was still evolving. Everyone who felt they weren't racist said that, Of course now it's a problematic phrase to say.
@@SteadyNUnremitting I agree. "Evolution" is a good way of putting it. Back in the 90's the concept of being colorblind was still seen as a positive step in the right direction for those who were trying to be allies to non-white communities. Society has definitely evolved since then to have a fuller understanding why that phrase is problematic.
Thats what it has always meant but people wanna make it seem like you dont see their identity cos they wanna make issues out of nothing. I dont see color means I wont judge you by your color.
No he is correct and totally in ORDER . En Vogue is a group of black women who LOOK BLACK and who grew up in Amerikkka just like we did and so did whoever wrote the lyrics .....the words were more than likely written by someone Caucasian .....who in 1992 DEFINITELY wanted us to live in this kind of dystopian "color blind world" the only problem is ALOT of black children (like me) who grew up in the 1990s were indoctrinated to think and one major thing was the delusion of "color blindness" . I definitely fell in love with your personality MORE when I heard you articulate that you didn't believe "color blindness" .....the ONLY people allowed to be color blind at blind people . We live in a radicalized world that has created laws , systems and traditions BASED OFF OF SKIN COLOR which many times and STILL equals OTHER , less than and different . To NOT see color or race means you don't see acknowledge and empathize with my VERY different experience moving through the world as a black man
This song became an anthem for so many black women (including myself). The fact that they recorded and released this in the '90s and it's still relevant today speaks VOLUMES of how important this song is. They did an amazing job at incorporating a rock sound to really portray the anger we have towards society for always oversexualizing us, it's quite brilliant.
You NEED to react to En Vogue's 'Giving Him Something He Can Feel' it's easily one of their best!
Love En Vogue! “Giving him something he can feel” is a vibe too ❤️
My Lovin' (You're Never Gonna Get It) is good for a faster song. The breakdown part is great harmonization. That album is fire.
Yesss
He needs to hear the original version by Althea Franklin
Can we just appreciate how respectful and uplifting Jack always is when it comes to black women?💜🥰 (Even though that should be the bare minimum for everyone)
Expect respect. (That's my motto)
I agree but I think he respects all women. I'm old enough to remember these songs from college. I find him to be a very respectful young man. If I had a daughter, I'd want her to date a man like him.
@@amourtoujours779 You are right about that. Because a lot of people (men) treat you like your treat yourself.
@@janejones7638 Exactly. Treat yourself how you want to be treated and everyone else will follow suit.
You mean people in general right because otherwise your statement is very racist. All you are doing is separating
En vogue- Giveing him something he can feel
I see En Vogue, I immediately hit the like button!
I love that he doesn't constantly beg for support. Sometimes youtubers say smash like before the video even starts. That makes me feel used. I always like Jack's videos but that's because they deserve likes. I feel like he puts effort into them that deserves support.
💪🏽✊🏽
When you mentioned 4c hair I had to stop texting, look at the screen and smile Jack! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
When you said 4C Jack I was like "okay, Jack bring on the African American culture knowledge" KUDOS ☺ great reaction
He's obviously did his research and got educated
Jack I’m telling you. This is THE BEST GIRL GROUP EVER! Listen to “Dont Go” by En Vogue live at the Apollo 🔥
I would say they are one of the best. I love Salt-n-Pepa, too. I know their singing isn't as good but the rapping and the meaning of the songs are amazing. I liked TLC and even Destiny's Child. The 90's were the best for Girl Groups. With those groups and Spice Girls in pop music, I don't know of any other time in history with the exception of Motown 60's that might be better.
Jane Jones vocally, they were the best
Don't Go is a banger. Terri goes off on that song. Especially on the album version and the lives that I'm able to find.
Being color blind in this reference is just talking about judging on color. Remember this was done at a completely different time.
Agreed. They meant "color blind" as in not using a person's ethnic background to judge them, when forming an opinion about them, etc.
This actually reminds me of Janets song Black Cat
This genre, rock, performed by these 4 black women, a predominantly RnB group, embodies the message of "Free Your Mind."
“Giving Him Something He Can Feel” has been on repeat lately.
Still my favorite En Vogue song. Timeless message and shout out to you for focusing on that!
Sadly the message is timeless. You'd think in the over 15 years since its release we'd be doing better. It almost seems like we're doing worse now.
I think the hook of the song Free your mind and the rest will follow be color blind don't be so shallow was a very clever way of saying don't judge me don't racially profile me. not people going through life not seeing color I don't think that's what they were saying. that's how the message came across to me .
I enjoy the way she sings what I thought was, “oh Lord forgive me…” The way her voice sways upwards in sort of a mournful cry to the world. It’s that deep, resonating sweep that makes me feel like it’s a travesty she’s pointing out.
En Vogue- Don't Go and Giving Him Something He Can Feel both songs are 🔥
I 100% agree with your views. The black culture should never be erased coz it’s a beautiful thing. We’re all different but stereotyping someone is BS…it should never happen. You cannot judge just by what u see coz not all members of a particular race is the same. I get what she’s saying about being color blind and the point she’s making but your view on that was awesome. You’re very intelligent!!!
My favorite girl group ever💯💯💯 This song is so powerful!!!
En Vogue- My Lovin (You're Never Gonna Get it)
Lucy Pearl - Dance Tonight
This song and their "Funky Divas" album was ahead of the time, it came out in 1992.
That's what they meant by "be color-blind" ; they mean to not judge based on race or culture. They're not telling folks to ignore the obvious.
Jack, I would love to see you react to Silk "Meeting in My Bedroom" or "If You".
Real thoughtful, Jack. Where you might think you heard the title is Funkadlic's, " Free Your Mind & Your Ass Will Follow". This is what I sing along with this, just havig fun. Keep up the good, Bro!
Jack please do 702 - Where my girls at?
JACK YOU DID "DON'T LET GO" BY ENVOGUE BEFORE BUT PLEASE DO "DON'T GO"..... IT'S ONE OF THEIR BEST!!!
Yes!!!! Jack Please react to don't go. It will blow your mind.
GIVING HIM SOMETHING HE CAN FEEL.....R&B CLASSIC...LOVE THIS TRACK ALSO
Yes Lawd!!!! Please react to this!!!
Loved your comment about the color blind line. Made me laugh 😄
And like this reaction 👍🏽
En Vogue...way too much talent, such perfect harmonies ❤
You have to see my color to acknowledge my existence
You always know just what's needed to be said at pointing out facts.I think black people are hated so much is the fact that we're so diverse. Our race is so distinct, exact and on point. We vary in so many shades of color, style, and so much more.We basically dominate in whatever we decide to get into and that's a threat to so many people of any race, color, creed. And hispanics, indians, are the same as far as beauty and talent and just our race in itself.I just needed to point out how our races are so amazing, powerful, and just to magnify the beauty's from all of us.Although we are all divided we still have to see and or know the importance of this not only today, but,in history.
"And the rest will follow!" Luzzzzz the Funky DIVA'S !!!
The colorblind lyric was meant figuratively, not literally. The concept of "race " is a social ideology as is the concept of "racial color". It never had anything to do with ethnicity. It was created in the 17th century to justify chattle slavery.
You need to do their biggest hit (My lovin) Never Gonna get it
Since u mentioned that all I can think of the skit part on in living color when Jamie fox played wanda n Wanda was rehearsing with them hilarious 😂
One of my favorite groups and songs! 🎵
Glad you enjoyed it as much as we did.
This and 'Black Cat' by Janet Jackson are two of my favorite crossover sounds with rock. 🎸
React to:
Arrested Development- "Tennessee".
Ne-Yo- "Because of You".
Soul 4 Real- "Candy rain"
One of my favorite songs! The relevance of this song today is very clear. The video could be released now as well.
You def gotta get into WAY more En Vogue
Giving Him Something He Can Feel
Never Gonna Get It
Waiting on You
Runaway Love
You're LITERALLY ONE OF A KIND 👏🏽 #THANKYOU FOR BEING YOU #AF 👏🏽 #YAAAAASSSSS 👏🏽
The colorblind part was indicative of the time. It’s a term that doesn’t work today, but at that time, it was embraced. Now terms and understanding of inclusivity has developed so terms have changed.
The rock feel of this song is a part of the song's message: "Free Your Mind"!
In the 90’s be color blind is what they were teaching in schools. And it was and good hook for a song.
I was so happy to see the group perform this song at the AMAs and the New Years Eve celebration on Tv last year! This is one of my fav songs from them, other than Never Gonna Get It! 🙌🙌🙌
This song reminds me a Whitney Houston song from the movie the bodyguard. It goes 🎶I’ve got the stuff that u want, I got that thing that u need....that make u drop to your knees🎶
It’s called Queen of the Night.
@@salwashabazz7329 ah yeh thanks
Giving him something he can feel- En Vogue
Think I've listened to this thousands of times in my life and still love it
En vogue phenomenal
You're on a good roll with the En Vogue reaction. React to "Don't Go" or "My Loving". You're going to happily drown in it.
@Jack Reacts You so super chill & you got good taste in music bro! This song still goes hard to this day. 💯👌🏿
I’m so happy that you understand New Jack Swing! This is one of my favorites from Envogue and it holds up. The message is just as important today
errrrrmerrrrgerrrrrd.......i've been dying to see you do this video. this is my jam from back in the day! totally timeless
"Free your miiiiiiiiind!!"
Hi Jack! Shout out from Gville 🧡🐊💙
React to Can't You See by Total feat. The Notorious B.I.G. and Kissing You by Total
Kissin’ You is my FAVORITE song by them 🔥🙌🏽
@@cherrybdaone That's one of my favorites by them as well.
I agree with you Jack on the color blind statement.
This was the third single off their second album, Funky Divas. In total they released 5 singles and all 5 could be categorized in different musical genres. Their version of the Beatles' "Yesterday" got a lot of radio play but it wasn't an official single. It's rare that a remake surpasses the original but this is up there with The Bangles' "hazy shade of winter," Whitney Houston's "I will always love you," SInead O'connor's "Nothing compares 2 U," and Meli'sa Morgan's "Do me baby" as among the best remakes of all time.
I was disappointed that "free your mind" didn't do better than number 8 on the charts because I thought it was one of the more important songs of our lifetime. I was a closet chart junkie as a kid and would always hawk over the Sunday paper because they would reprint portions of the billboard charts on sundays. My parents didn't appreciate my love for music because in their view it was unbecoming for a man of my culture to have passion for anything that doesn't put food on the table. I later realized that it was a backwards way of driving home the importance of time valuation. Now, I'm spending my time during the pandemic season on youtube watching others react to music. I showed them! 🙌
The opening line where Terry says "prejudice, wrote a song about..." was a riff from the 90's sketch comedy show In Living Color. The character Calhoun Tubbs would say the catchphrase "wrote a song about it, like to hear it, here it go" before singing. This shoutout led to them getting a guest spot on the show starring with Jamie Foxx in one of the funniest skits ever on any sketch comedy show: ruclips.net/video/RB7A7Yb-QNw/видео.html
For an equally deep, comparatively similar song that tackles the subject of bullying, check out "Girl from the gutter" by ex Brownstone member, Kina.I think you will love it, it is ridiculously good.
EnVogue My loving your never gonna get it. Give up turn it loose and Don’t Go and You don’t have to worry. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥💯🎤🎤🎤✔️
I watched a special on this song. It was wrote after the 1991 Rodney King in LA. Love this song and group.
I’m in LOVE with your channel Jack 😍🔥🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
Listen EnVogue is definitely in a class of their own!!!! React to: Don't Go and Giving Him Something He Can Feel!
I feel like the saying "color blind" is 90s thing.
Speak brother Jack!....Speak! So wise and smart as a young, man.✊🏽✊🏽✊🏽✊🏽
They could literally sing anything
One of the biggest songs of my junior high school years!! Memories 🥰
I love everything about this song and I love your take on it too. 🙂👌🏼💙
I literally just finished watching your other video and when I saw your notification I run to go see it 😂 ,love your videos❤️❤️❤️and u
If you like this sound, Whitney Houston has a very similar sounding song called "Queen of the Night".
Speaking of "breakdown", NEVER GONNA IT! Another great song
Yesssssssssssssss I love En Vogue!!!!!!!!

Yes Jack!!! You are so in tune thats why I keep coming back for your reactions. You be spitting facts 🔥
Love this song. Pure girl power 💪
Love your content👏🏻 And actually I really like when you get really into the background of the songs and talk about it, mainly because I usually agree with you but also because it's interesting to hear ❤️❤️
Hi Jack. I subscribed to your channel recently after binge watching you until 3 am one night. I was impressed when you reacted to En Vogue, then Brownstone and mind blown when you did Blackberry Molasses. I love all of those and your reaction to them was just how I feel too. You are now my favorite channel ❣️. Thanx for being you. Can't wait to hear more from you.
Excellent commentary Jack!
EnVogue’s Never Gonna Get it should be next
Thank you (x3)!
This is probably my favorite Envogue song. The message is so on the nose. Love it.
I enjoy your reactions and share your viewpoints and opinions. Glad I ran across you & subbed. I wish more young people had your attitude and articulation. Keep up the good work brother! I look forward to more 🙂👍🏼🌎❤🤝🏻🙏🤜🏼🤛🏿
I've been waiting on this for months
Me too
You should do "Don't Go" (not to be confused with their other song "Don't Let Go (Love)", that you already did)
I agree with you, Jack, about the color blind.
Love your reaction & comments! Thanks Jack for being open minded!
OMG! I loved this song sooo much!!! Got the CD just because of this song!
My All Time Favorite Female Girl Group!
That’s what they’re saying in the lyric…color blind in the lyrics isn’t literal it’s figuratively stated to mean don’t judge or assume based on a person’s race, they’re not saying to ignore race when as you say, “you can obviously see race with two eyes”
Jack reacts i miss this era. Now things are terrible. I miss the nineties sooo bad.
Def got to react to envouge giving him something him can feel video
I think a good one with a sort of similar message is Salt- N-Pepa None of Your Business. I heard that one of the members of the group hated the song and found it so anti-religious. I personally found the song very religious. You shouldn't judge anyone for silly reasons (yes for murder, rape, etc.). One of my favorite quotes from the bible is; Judge not lest ye be judged. Anyway, these songs came out within the same year I believe. Over 15 years later and we are still fighting all forms of prejudice. None is worse than racism but judiging people in general is terrible.
Had to chuckle at 8:08: "it's real...like..funky?..." well, as their album is titled, they are 'funky divas'
Keep doin ya thing kid! Entertaining to see a young one discover & appreciate some of what i.grew up on.
Song still very relevant today
Do "giving him something he can feel" EnVogue
Colorblind was the goal of objectivity and inclusivity at the time and at the time it was the ideal. Colorblind was the pc attitude ideal of how to be. But the rest of the song holds up and in context it makes sense.
They all have the tina turner vibe because Tina turner is rock, N, Roll she is the one of a kind
Here you have an underrated song from an swedish music collective. Rnb/soul/hiphop. Blacknuss -Dinah
I love this song. So much meaning. I still have a cassette tape copy. Would love to hear you react to Monie Love “It’s A Shame” (My Sister) and “New Agenda” by Janet .
Please please please go back and do more En Vogue reactions. They have sooo much more . Would love to see it
Your commentary on this song is A1! Good job Jack!
Jack you should definitely react to Whitney Houston's Miracle! That song is so powerful and profound!
Thank you Jack for my request
React to en vouge rocket u will not be disappointed the harmonie is on point
Xscape love on my mind
Check you are so funny I love reviewing you and you’re right I don’t see color I will say is so lame and so wrong and you are so truthful. It’s funny keep on keeping on I’m 66 years old and I listen to you and have a blast I love it.
I love the Knowledge Jack! You are giving these kids the Truth! En vogue was my first CD please react to "Don't go" by them 😊🙏💕
