  • I spent about 7 out of the last 8 weeks in the Philippines and the difference in countries is like night and day. This is an honest video about what I saw and experienced and how it compares to life in China for an expat on the move. Does this have anything to do with the American Influence in the area? Watch until the end for the answer.

Given that Philippines is now under a puppet leader, it's obvious which country is on the right side of history, it ain't the Philippines here. Philippines is now back to where it was before Dutuerte's leadership, it's now a vassal state again, under Marcos Junior. US barks, Marcos Junior wags his tail, for a dog bone like the good dog he is.
Compared to China under Xi's leadership, does anyone even need to ask?
Its clearly obvious that China is in a much more better situation than Philippines in general. Economically speaking. They have more trade, business deals, through their various economic programmes, Philippines, under Marcos Junior, is stationing more US bases, which is just pandering to his voters, he's a mere puppet, US is pulling his strings.
Which means Philippines has no freedom to choose their trading partners, because they're under US influence, which also means, they don't own their own foreign policy.
If US doesn't like the direction of Philippine foreign policy, they'll let you know sure enough, in ways that I don't even have to explain. Take Venezuela as an example of what happens to countries who don't follow US foreign policy. That will happen to Philippines if they don't follow US foreign policy.
With China, this will NEVER happen in a trillion years.
That's the difference between Philippines & China. Now that China is stronger, more self efficient, no country can bully China like in the past anymore. Not even the US 🇺🇸.

There was a recent video comparing India and China, and one of the main points was that China has had competent local government. I think this plays a huge role in development. Every sovereign country has money. They can print as much as they want. What needs to happen is that the money needs to be invested into productive capital.
China has consistently prioritized the health of the people, which means socializing profits. The US and its vassals lack this concern. For them, it's all about private profit and socialized cost.

“For them, it's all about private profit and socialized cost.”
Bingo! That’s why the US’s billionaires doubled and tripled their wealth every few years while the rest of the 99% are getting poorer and poorer every year! The politicians use tax dollars to make the billionaires richer; however, if the billionaires ever lose any of their money then the politicians bail them out with bailouts! That’s what “privatize profits and socialize losses” means!

    • @tkh2944

India & US have a lot of career politicians whereas China's politicians are more an administrator than politician. Politics being a path to wealth vs qualified merit based systems.
Which also extends to their endeavours in many fields. Example, the military industries will have a hard time to produce genuinely more advanced & efficient products because everything is mostly for profit - or a way to profit from their systems. Just look at India's Tejas jets & INSAS rifles where even their military don't want.
Meanwhile, China build not for profit but through patriotic needs to be effective & efficient - just like their HS railway systems.
      A world of difference there ... ✌️😊

@@kko-punch7059 I agree, make no mistake, China can NEVER EVER end up like what USA is today, in terms of how they do their foreign policy, it's just not in Chinese way of conducting foreign bilateral trade, that's NOT the way we Chinese do business, that's the arrogant American way of doing business, we Chinese are humble, always show respect to our trading partners, we NEVER interfere in internal politics of other countries we do business with, we may share some concerns, now & then, but we NEVER interfere with internal politics of other countries, China has a non-interference approach to our foreign policy & bilateral relations with other countries. We always favour, respect, mutual cooperation, trade, negotiations & communication whenever issues arise, we always strive to solve problems via communication, dialogue, rather than ramping up tensions, which now the Philippines under Marcos Junior, influenced of course by USA, is instead ramping up tensions with China with US backing them, because why then would Philippines install 2 new US bases around Philippines if Philippines under Marcos Junior, only wants peace, a negotiated dialogue? Because the US is trying to use Philippines just as they're using Ukraine as a proxy against Russia. In this case using Philippines 🇵🇭 as a proxy against China, also using Taiwan as a proxy against China as well, as all those overseas Tibetans, overseas Uyghurs, overseas Hong Kong Extremists, for the same purpose too.

Best synopsis on what a difference a good system of government makes. In China government officials are held to account on the progress or lack thereof of their mandate. And with a single party system, the mandate is keep the people relatively happy with your performance. In America the two party system is not held accountable, as they can always shift the blame to the other party for blocking their progress. I am not saying both parties are equally bad at doing this, but the system puts in place an adversarial relationship in which a minority of people are afforded a majority of power. Throw in the culture wars, and you have a recipe for a death spiral of disfunction, in which only a revolution can fix. And I don't have enough years of life left to see America change for the better. So China, here I come!

@@williamlewandowski129 agreed. That's the flaw with the western multi party system, nobody is held accountable for their shoddy policies, they do this old finger pointing game, like a bunch a school kids, it's sad, & pathetic, this is the reason why nothing gets done properly. This is the reason why things are in a mess in a lot of western countries. Not just the west, but many countries which have multi party system, also face the same dilemma. It's easier to blame others, than to be held accountable for their policies, keep on track, also another thing is, politicians like to move the goal posts, like kicking the can down the street so to speak, without really changing anything or achieving anything. That's the problem with a multi party system. The US especially spreads their system is the best like gospel, but we can all see the cracks in their system already. Failed policies, short 5 year term for all leaders means, they're not gonna achieve much once those 5 year terms are up. Every 5 years they have a election to change leader. But it's the same old policies being put forward by previous administrations, so no difference, new face but same old policies.
Some of those policies are sometime bipartisan. Especially foreign policies.

The night street hawkers at Wangfujing had to wear white hats and white coats. Streets were clean, hotels were new, food was good(& healthy) and the tourist attractions were great. Had a great time. Yes I do agree that the American government is envious of the communist party's achievements. While usg wasted time and resources destroying countries around the world, they woke up to see what china had achieved and it was much too late. Self development, keep on focusing on self improvement, that has been one of the greatest achievements in China, the strive for development, improvement, it's never ending journey that never stops, the sky is the limit. I see the poverty of course in the Philippines, is as clear as day. The gap between the mega rich and the mega poor is huge, but all that aside the Philippines has its wonders, people are super friendly, I've grown up and lived in Ireland most of my life and we're pretty well known as a country for its hospitality, but nothing compares to what I've seen in the Philippines, especially in Samar.

    • @bldomain
      @bldomain Месяц назад +6

When people are super friendly to you, doesn't mean they are happy amd their lives is good. Many Filipinos are living in poverty and many PH girls have become maids and working abroad around the world. Right now the PH under Marcos junior is playing a dangerous game. He let the US have additional 4 military bases in the PH which do not benefit its people but became a target for China if they are at war with the US. The economy is not good and they are not much investment from their own colonial master, the US. So why are they bending towards the US? IS Marcos beholden to the US because of his fathers corrupt past? Anyway hope the Pinoys wakes up and realized that something is wrong in the PH.

Its upsetting and to try to change minds and attitudes will be a long road but I am still hopeful.
The last 40yrs Philippine citizens have been schooled and educated to look abroad for work, money and success while the oligarchs and politicians continue raking in the remittances and allow the pillage of resources and wealth while their pockets are lined with gold.
I am still hopeful that a generation will eventually see that real change must come from within each citizen in country or abroad, citizen or ex-pat.
Unfortunately I think many are still hoping USA will make us a colonial province like GUAM or Puerto Rico, for access to green cards!

About accountability and corruption, I remember reading about how the Philippine lost the third largest island on the Spratly archipelago. It was a birthday party throwing for one of the Philippine high ranking military men. Then I run into one article written about the Philippine defense minister's wife. His wife is the same race as the race that took the Spratly third largest island from the Philippine. How did the Philippine's defense minister meet this girl and married her. Was he made the mistake and lost an island and able to retain his job because no one able to demote him? Of course, there were refugee in the Philippine, but most of the refugee were to be resettled to a wealthier country. Refugee knowing they going to a wealthier country. I don't believe they will choose to settle in the Philippine with widespread communism activities around the refugee camp.

@ 3:54 , Gweilo60 is correct; the Philippines is a nation rich in natural resources. Sadly, Western colonialism repeatedly seized control of the government. History said the Western colonialists expropriated much of the natural resources; exploited the gullible Filipinos; and impoverished the people. Whether the colonialists were Dutch, Spaniard, Japanese, or American, their departure exposed the dilapidated condition of the Philippines-very few bridges, schools, dams, highways, rails, water treatment facility, hospitals, and utilities. Today, too many Filipinos live in poverty, in poor health , and die young needlessly -courtesy of Western meddling in the affairs of the Philippines. Filipinos democracy conceals much of the corruption perpetrated by the West. And Western propaganda tricks the Filipinos into believing they should assimilate with the West than SE Asia.
