    This will be fun to follow along.
    I have a 1966 Series2A88”. I bought just a year ago from a rancher who was still using it here in central California. Fortunately there is zero rust on the chassis and bulkhead.
    Cheers.👌

    Martin I'm thrilled you and LRM are documenting this rebuild. I'm in the States and am at the front end of my frame-off restoration of my '83 Series 3 SWB. I've been corresponding with Richard Hall who has been very generous in providing some guidance on converting my 2.25 diesel to a 2.5 petrol (i.e., 17H). I will be building this all on a new galvanized Marsland chassis with a new galvanized bulkhead. Your videos will be really helpful! Thanks again. ~Pete (South Carolina & LRM subscriber)

    Nice to be in at the start of a project. I am just about to start my own series 3 journey with a ground up station wagon rebuild. New chassis scheduled to arrive on Tuesday. Yet to decide on where to source the replacement bulkhead. Good luck from Gloucestershire.

    Interesting to see how you find the MAER chassis?

      All good so far, well made, couple of small things to fettle but nothing too difficult

    Best thing I did on my series 2a was a Marsland galvanised chassis and parabolic springs, it’s mind boggling.

      I'm looking forward to seeing how much the parabolics improve things

    Nice to see a series 3 without chequer plate rash…… the spring swap is a great choice as ex military ones are horrible unless loaded to the gunnels.

      The guys at the dump said they had a four foot square bit of c plate and thought of me I turned them down politely, my 2a had cplate wing tops with the wings when I changed them,but thirty years later there's no way I'd do any of that to my two. It's a bad look in my opinion

    Why use Fairy overdrive ??? why not use the Canadian one , everything else I agree with

    Is it a 1 ton ? kinda looks it mines a s3 76, 200tdi done by myself.

    • @landrovermonthly7806
      @landrovermonthly7806  Месяц назад +2

      It's a military Combat chassis. Adjustable spring mounts, square rear crossmember, tierod mount and a couple of other differences. Similar to 1 Ton

      No. Although they used the same spring mounts there are some significant differences to a 1 Ton. 1 Tons had the straight six petrol engine, ENV or twin Salisbury axles, lower ratio steering box, different transfer box etc. They are also incredibly rare. An easy reference point is that the military never bought them. (Except the IIA TACR1s)

      @@jjt1093 Might gain you an inch or so, but not much without also extending the fixed mount.
