I’m hoping they make the portal something that can be done AFTER the season is over. No other sport has free agency during the season. I wish some of these players, especially some of those from Alabama would trust the process and stick it out and compete. The portal has made it too easy to not persevere and compete. Many of these guys would likely be better for it to stick around.
I don’t know if anyone else feels this way, but there’s just something that’s changed about college football. It’s gotten about money, the portal, NIL, going pro. It’s just not the same.
I’m just an old woman who loves college football & am passionate about my team. I don’t care about any other sports, although I’ve lived all over the US in cities that have all the sports…basketball, baseball, hockey. I value education & I understand also why young college players want to advance themselves & make money to better their lives. I don’t want to cast blame on anyone. But like many things at this stage of life, I long for the way it used to be. And Funny Maine…you are the best!!
You’re 100% right on FSU, they complained about not making the playoffs, then half the team quit. They had an opportunity to go out and show who they say they are against UGA, and they quit, and in term get the worst beat down ever in a bowl game. Personally, if a player opts out of a bowl game, they shouldn’t travel with the team, just my opinion. It’s sends a bad message.

TCU got snubbed out years ago and had to play Ole Miss in a New Year's Six Bowl. Instead of moping and playing the victim, they united and intimately demolished Ole Miss. They tried to show the committee why they got it wrong.
Great points and totally agree about FSU - only have sympathy left for Jayden, but NONE at all for the remaining players, coaches, fan base because of the entitled spoiled brat reaction to not getting selected when if they even could have stayed within two touchdowns of Georgia then they could have earned support and respect.
I do agree with you. Especially on #2 & 3. But the Portal is causing this ME ME ME generation to hurt teams. It doesn’t seem to be about the teams anymore and that’s petty. If I had to fix it, 2 things. I wouldn’t open the portal until the last game has been played. And only seniors or those declaring for the draft would be allowed to opt out of the playoffs or other bowl games. And if a player just doesn’t show up for those games in spite of the rules, they lose a year of eligibility. Considering that the Alabama semi went to OVERTIME....LAST play to be decided, the Washington game was over after the first TD. Not impressed. Wonder if the "signal" coaches were in effect.

They screwed over Georgia by ranking them #1 every time despite obviously not considering them the best team as was evident by the way they ranked the last ranking...this meant Kirby Smart and the SEC really thought that even if Georgia lost...that would mean two teams in the playoffs...instead of what actually happened. ...and this lack of care earlier in the season really meant that the exclusion of Florida State was a surprise when it really shouldn't have been. The whole thing really shows how the CFP committee has to be diligent EVERY WEEK to actually share what they think...because they didn't do that this year and it bit them in the ass. Also, putting Alabama in when they lost to Texas, struggled with USF and Arkansas, had to get a miracle to beat Auburn (which got blown out AT HOME by New Mexico State the previous week)...and barely beat Georgia... Sorry, but Florida State had the better resume...and if they were in the playoffs, we would have seen an FSU team at close to full strength with Rodemaker at QB against Michigan.

Michigan made history winning the championship by having the first coach suspended twice in the same season and still allowed to coach . I know some of their wins may be stripped from them but they will never take away the title .

I have 2 takeaways from the championship game. #1 Washington made Alabama look good, and #2,..... Michigan played like they knew "exactly" what the other team was going to do. And I do mean "EXACTLY" like they knew 🤔.
Portal needs to be in late January early February. The players, and all people in life, do not need to make important decisions while emotions are high, such as they are at the end of the season for sports players. The result, in my humble opinion, is the 2023 Bowl Games were the worst entertainment value I have experienced. For the most part they were analogous to three themes. The Coming Out Bowl, the Second and Third String Bowl, and the Benchwarmer Bowl. No disrespect to any of the young athletes who played, but the NCAA should rethink this Portal date.
So I guess a Ga team that went undefeated all year, held the #1 position and lost their conference championship by 3 points is undeserving? Knowing that Bama or Ga with roles reversed either way would feel slighted. Truth is: Texas was better one game than Bama, but not overall. Bama was better than Ga in one game but not overall. Washington wasn’t better than Bama or Ga, and the best 4 teams weren’t in the playoffs.

Michigan made history winning the championship by having the first coach suspended twice in the same season and still allowed to coach . I know some of their wins may be stripped from them but they will never take away the title .
Oh they can look up USC in 2004. Had the title stripped from them for cheating.

Nor should they it just undermines the integrity of the sport. To be honest Michigan should have been sanctioned earlier by the NCAA, the NCAA however moves slower than molasses in a winter pipe.
27 years since the last time they won a National Championship its about time. Alabama is all good and pissed off next year they going 15 and 0. FSU will never be in the CFP they will sit at the bottom 20 with Liberty and JMU. The committee made the best decision in college football all that crying FSU did before they played Georgia and Georgia curb stomped FSU 63 to 3 they are fresh out of excuses to losing that bad.
I have 2 takeaways from the championship game. #1 Washington made Alabama look good, and #2,..... Michigan played like they knew "exactly" what the other team was going to do. And I do mean "EXACTLY" like they knew 🤔.

Portal needs to be in late January early February. The players, and all people in life, do not need to make important decisions while emotions are high, such as they are at the end of the season for sports players. The result, in my humble opinion, is the 2023 Bowl Games were the worst entertainment value I have experienced. For the most part they were analogous to three themes. The Coming Out Bowl, the Second and Third String Bowl, and the Benchwarmer Bowl. No disrespect to any of the young athletes who played, but the NCAA should rethink this Portal date.
So I guess a Ga team that went undefeated all year, held the #1 position and lost their conference championship by 3 points is undeserving? Knowing that Bama or Ga with roles reversed either way would feel slighted.
Truth is: Texas was better one game than Bama, but not overall. Bama was better than Ga in one game but not overall. Washington wasn’t better than Bama or Ga, and the best 4 teams weren’t in the playoffs.
My takeaway is that the committee got it right. The 4 best teams got in and the best team won it all.
Michigan showed us (Bama) how to execute. You can't keep making mistakes and beat good teams.
